I love this aria, and especially Horne singing it. You can actually feel her perfect vocal placement and breath support. She's a walking singing lesson!
Not only is her singing truly spectacular but she spent a lot of money on that dress and she got her money's worth. She never looked lovelier. I love the blond coif, as well.
BRAVA! I WAS THERE! It was in Munich, and the conductor was Nicola Rescigno....Horne is really the GREATEST Singer ....She know exactly what she can do with her voice- breath, legato, stamino, trills, Chest voice-all. She is unbelievable....Brava brava e ancora Brava- and shes has a wonderful sense of humor. BRAVA
@@ireneultramarine244 It was so wonderful! It was sad, because on this evening the House was not full seated- the prices where high- and there where many other performances in Munich on that night. But it was sensationell. I heard Horne a fewe years later again- she is a Jewel- as it was Montse! GOD, I MISS SINGERS LIKE THEM TODAY: They sound healthier and better als most of the singers today who are half their age!
I adore her. I met her many years ago after a concert; so gracious and warm. IMO the greatest mezzo in recent history. And that gown/color looks fabulous on her!
Watch her face as she sings this very difficult piece....she's having FUN! Her facial expressions just add more to her song. She is the epitomy of a REAL DIVA...one who shows great confidence, and just enjoys singing for us! I believe that. Wish more were like this, but they have the finest model from whom to learn. BRAVA...dear "Jackie". May you continue as long as you would like. Thank you so much...all who are responsible for this post.
A delightful aria which is an audience pleaser. Maryln Horne sings it wonderfully and of course the audience goes wild. I love to hear Horne bring it off.
Leprincebeaumont viva Bonynge? For Christ's sake! This one is way better! Bonynge may be a great Bel Canto specialist but as far as conducting is concerned, he leaves a lot to be desired: he doesn't rise above the level of discretion.

You can tell she really enjoys singing that piece!
ant the audience loves to hear it hahahaha Meyerbeer use to be really popular in the late XX century.
Weer zo'n prachtig gezongen lied van Marilyn Horne. De beste mezzo-sopraan uit haar tijd. Een vakvrouw.
Delicious and oh so moving. Thanks so much.
Love her❤
We love you Ms Horne!!!
La Horne indeed. Flawless!! Forget the dress; put her in a fig leaf and the sound is the thing.
Thanks for sharing.

She was born in Bradford, Pennsylvania USA.
I love how she totally coughs (4:48) but she sounds wonderful!

Wonderful rendering of this Meyerbeer fiendishly difficult piece! Much better than Tourangeau in every aspect!
When mezzos were created, God only made a single voice like hers. What could he possibly have done for an encore?
Amazing...of course the high notes were starting to get difficult at this point...but always a legend!
3:38-3:42 I lol'd. Love her.
She's enjoying herself
where is she form???
Who's the conductor?
Tota una mezzo de referència.

ne cherchez pas la prononciation on n'y comprend très peu mais c'est sympathique....

Bad conducting...
in her eternal horrible green evening dressing
I completely disagree. That color looks great on her. Maybe you can't pull it off, but she could.
@@Eiswirth1 Agree with you - she looks amazing!
