Wow. Saw the two boys (Hunt and Tony) twice in the eighties when they were part of the brilliant "Tin Machine" with David Bowie. Tin Machine were absolutely brilliant live .
Well that was awkward. I'm sure the kids found it all pretty embarrassing with the baby pictures and Dad giving Hunt a big kiss on the cheek. Of course Tony and Hunt went on to play with Iggy Pop, David Bowie and Todd Rundgren, so it turned out all right. The bass player here is Jon Pousette-Dart who went on to form the soft rock Pousette Dart Band, and the other guitarist is Burgess Meredith's son Jonathan.
While Hunt was probably embarrassed by his dad's display of affection on the show (I'm sure I would've been at his age.), I imagine he can see it now as something very sweet & memorable.
I think this shows how much Soupy loved his kids. He was really a good dude. Try to find someone who had a bad word to say about him. Other than Howard Stern Cutting his piano wires. 😎
awwwww ...that was too fucking cUTE!... trust paps to get the baby pics out on national tv ... and hunt was such a little chubby ball of cuteness... awwww.....x)).. i love this
I always remembered this, and just thought to look for it. I remember thinking, "They did more harmonies on that than the Beatles". Like, was that OK with me, or not? LOL.
They went on to do pretty well in the music business to be fair . But Tony and the Tigers weren't the best teenage group of all time but they had a go . Individually they did ok later on in life ,Tin machine 😊
I grew up in New York City I would rush home to make sure I caught his show. Then after that there were children's entertainers like Sandy Becker, Uncle Fred scott, officer Joel Bolton with the Three Stooges Sonny Fox Etc By the way for those of you who think you're styling look at their jackets and their pants just like what's in style today the ripped pants was in style back in the seventies and the pants will call Hip Huggers😅😅😅
+Timothy Forbes He did! I never heard one negative thing from his children. During the Golden Age of Television, many stars promoted their children's careers. Jerry Lewis is one example.
they went on to play with Todd Rundgren until around 1973, worked with Iggy Pop around '75 - '77, then tried to start their own solo career as Hunt & Tony Sales, which didn't take off due to Tony getting into a car accident. Tony then worked in Chequered Past, and they both came together to work with Reeves Gabrels and David Bowie in the band Tin Machine from 1988 - 1992. Tony went into another supergroup called The Cheap Dates, and Hunt into Hunt Sales and the Big 3. the previously lost tapes from what would've become their 1979 album were found in 2008, and released as Hired Guns (three performances from their debut show at the Starwood Club, Hollywood, can be found on RUclips, the songs being, "Goddam Payments," "Lonely Too Long," and "Buzz In Your Hive.") Hunt's now in The Hunt Sales Memorial and Tony keeps a pretty private life, other than a couple live performances possibly from a couple years ago. Tony's son, Anthony/Tony Sales Jr. also has his own music career, as part of the Ardent Sons. I highly recommend their solo work from Hired Guns and Tin Machine, really nice stuff.
@@billgee02 no problem! Tony's actually going on tour in the UK during 2023 with; Kevin Armstrong, who played rhythm guitar during Tin Machine's 1992-93 "It's My Life Tour"; Earl Slick, who worked with David Bowie during the late 70s on his Berlin Trilogy albums; and some other artists (I believe one of Heaven 17's touring members and a previous member of Blondie)
NOBODY did the Beatles back then - sacrilegious!! Tony became a great behind-the-scener and hung out with Todd and Iggy for a while, but nepotism does not fame make.
Wonderful sons that Soupy Sales had. When TV was fun to watch! The roaring 1960s!
GOD BLESS TONY , HUNT AND DAD SOUPY FOREVERMORE - - LOVE FROM YOUR PAL HOLLYWOOD JOE - -

Good cover and a dad that obviously loved his sons very much. Love Soupy.
Fun Fact : Howard Kaylan has stated that Soupy had the best pot in town.
What a great clip, not only do we get a live version of Day Tripper, but an encore of Meet the Mets!
Love it I grew up watching Soupy Sales and our mom would make what ever his lunch menu was. A wonderful life back in the day!!!
They are both amazing musicians 🥰

The third runner up in every high school talent contest.
Where are Soupy's sons now?

Talk about nepotism! But hey, it's Soupy's kids...
He's entitled! And from this clip and others, he seems like he had a great relationship with his kids!!!

IGGY!
Well, it's not what you know, it's...
TIME
wonder what happened to his kids?
Robby Combs they played in David Bowie’s Tin Machine and with Todd Rundgren and Iggy Pop. Very talented guys in their own right.

Also, every drummer tried to be Ringo - even Wilson of the Beachboys. This kid's trying too hard.
Almost as cringeworthy as Jerry Lewis and his kid on Hulabaloo.
