When you are shooting in burst mode and have several photos of action, you can combine them together to create a sequence shot for a fun perspective in your photos! You can take these multi shots on just about any modern camera including action cameras, iphone, android, and all the top digital camera brands. Since the photos are taken so quickly, you don't need to worry about using a tripod for these types of effects.
In this photoshop tutorial you'll learn how to merge multiple images together in an action sequence to reveal a chain of frames throughout an entire movement. This works best with some type of sport or fast action such as running, jumping.

I followed directions closely, (but converted my files to jpeg first.) Did not get the same results. Masking did not fully erase all parts of images. Rather, the mask covered the image in white, rather than making it disappear. Has Photoshop changed something in the past year?

This is a great tutorial. Do you have any suggestions or links to do this where the light has change for each shot in the sequence? I did a timelapse of the moon rising behind the Statue of Liberty and now I want to make a composite with multiple moons at different heights as it climbed through the sky. However, unlike your shots that were all taken in the same light, mine were taken as the sky went from golden hour to blue hour. And if I try to paint on the moons from different layers, I get the darker or lighter sky around the moon as I can’t draw the layer mask perfectly. Any guidance would be appreciated.

So, I have the bottom 2 layers selected and have created a layer mask for the second from the bottom layer. The layer mask is white with black as the foreground. When I paint over this layer, the image from this layer is erased; however, the bottom layer bleeds through. What am I doing wrong?

I am still new to photoshop, I am way more familiar with lightroom. Can anyone tell me why when I follow these steps, I get almost a clone affect when I start using the brush? Ends up looking like it's trying to duplicate rather than "erase." I have checked the video so many times and I have everything set the same as the video from what I can see. I hope I'm explaining that correctly. Any help appreciated!

Yes, that is what will happen with layer masks. Painting black over a white mask will add transparency and therefore reveal the layer beneath. If you want the opposite layers to be visible, I would try switching the order of your layer stack.
Alternatively you can invert your white layer mask to black, then paint white onto the black mask to only reveal the contents of that particular layer.
Sorry I know that's a bit confusing without a photo but hopefully that makes sense. I would just invert the mask and paint white most likely to solve your issue if I understand correctly.

I want to have an Android application to do this for me. There used to be one back in the days.. or was that in Symbian times... Am I the only one who remembers / misses it?
