Nice informative Video as always! A few weeks ago I compared the hot racing, the Yeah Racing and the treal steering rods. At least out of the ones I had the Yeah racing one prooved to be the one with the least play. Don't know how much they vary in production. Nice that u returned to the scx24 😁👍.
So I glued the servo saver and not ten minutes later the stock servo was done… steered way better before it went though. Thanks for the link, $9 from Amain vs $20 on Az, where even the knock-offs are $12.
Dang! Sorry to hear that. Some last a good while and some die quick. It’s a bit of a gamble but the stock setup is horrible so worth the shot to me lol
Try setting your travel. I have to back my rates down to 70% cause the linkage binds on the servos casing with aftermarket servos. Or use a longer horn..
The treal steering links seems smoother than hot racing and it's a little thicker too . thanks for servo info been looking at the reef99 great to see them in action cause my emax has it's hands full right now.thanks again brother.

Hello I’m new to your channel…. But this video was very helpful. I’m a little new to these crawlers. Can you guide me on how you did the frame on the orange one? Also what kind of transmitter is that?
Glad to hear it helped out! This video is a bit older so there are some better options out there now honestly. As far as the cage goes it came from shapeways.com Just search Scx24 and they have a bunch! This one is called the rum runner chassis. Not sure which transmitter I showed but I normally use the flysky gt5 and have been for a couple yrs now. If switching to a different transmitter you’ll also need an esc as the stock one is a esc/receiver all in one and won’t work with any other transmitter. The flysky can be found here amzn.to/3BcObjl
That's interesting your burning up servos.. I am sure you have set your end point adjustments and steering rate , since you use digital programmable radios , like specktrum and flysky. However did you check the linkage. I ask that cause you can hear your servos motors trying to center when static, but more importantly you can here the motor make sounds when you turn the wheels to the right. They are binding most likely from your servo horn to steering linkage connection as you move it to extreme left or right this connection is hitting the servo, causing a bind.. that will burn servos out pretty quick if your course requires alot of hard turning from repeated binding. Anyways thought I would mention that.
Thanks for the useful video! Have you tried putting the Reefs in the Betty? I've just put a Komodo (forward facing) in mine. The length seems like it could work, but not sure about the overall size of the Reefs in between the rails and body mount. Thoughts?
I never ran the reefs in my Betty but I’m pretty sure I ran it or the agfrc (same as reefs, but cheaper) on a rig with the Komodo facing forward. Not sure though to be honest.
Another really good video. You may want to put up the prices of the different servos as you talk about them. Sure the Reef's are the best, but the price will have most moving to Emaxx or Savox. Congrats on the Amain link !! I'm in Canada, so ordering from the US just is not cost effective, but the US viewers can help you out by using your link !!

Depends on the overall size you want. The mudslingers are killer but they are pretty big. Patagonia’s ,bfgoodrich km3s & tsl boggers have always been a favorite of mine in the mid size tire. Even the wranglers are good. I really like the rock creepers but they are a bit smaller. To me the rock lox,Thornbirds & rock crushers are too small for anything I run.
You have a link for a reefs servo for me? I have one of the new gladiators and I have already been through one stock servo and just went through an emax. You think that reefs servo will fit in the Gladiator ?
Yeah tons of great options out there really. Hard to cover them all! I honestly just run the mofo or agfrc anymore. These are just 3 names I see mentioned all the time by people with Scx24s
What sort of ways can you get 8.4v to the Reefs 99? I looked at the ESC's you have linked and all of them only support 2s at the most and their BEC's are either 5.5v or 6.0v.
That’s usually if it’s being used for like a dig servo or shift servo on 1/10. I run mine at higher voltages on my 1/10s. I don’t bother on the smaller rigs because it’s just not needed
Probably the Emax. It’s cheap and works really well. Also probably the easiest to mount up. Very good servo for the money. www.avantlink.com/click.php?tt=cl&merchant_id=4b85b2b7-558e-4304-89fc-54958c8f47f0&website_id=4371464f-cc5e-4951-8007-81b6225e252d&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amainhobbies.com%2Femax-es08mdii-13g-digital-metal-gear-servo-emx-sv-0276%2Fp667828
Yeah they work really well for the price! Much better options out there now than what I had here. It’s crazy how much the support for these micros has grown
9:00 Are you running the Reefs with the stock Axial AE 6 Receiver/ESC ? That is keeping me from getting a stronger servo (other than Emax) - i don't want to upgrade my radio and buy sth. like a Furitek ESC. As a beginner could use more information about what you need to run a bigger servo. AE6 Data Sheet says 7.4 Volts (if i understand that right), not sure about the topic of external BECs.
Yeah I’ve ran the reefs with the stock stuff and no issues. I never run external becs on these just because I don’t want the extra wires etc. The ogrc, agfrc & the Injora servos have also ran fine on the stock stuff for me. I actually prefer them over the reefs just because they are cheaper and basically the same servo lol. The Injora is hard to beat at the price. It includes the servo mount and aluminum horn for less than the reefs servo alone. amzn.to/3JIN6D9
I really appreciate that! I think that I have to create the link for each item that you are purchasing. So if you’re looking for the Furitek esc for instance I’d have to create the link for that specific item. If you wanna email me anytime you’re looking for something I’d be happy to create a link for ya. 2fastmattracing@gmail.com

We have a lot of really good options now and honestly I prefer the torq mls servos. For the price they are hard to beat! Probably my favorite servo overall is still the shift nano m. Yeah back when I made this video they were still pretty good. Unfortunately the fakes have taken over and it’s almost impossible to get a legit Emax servo now. They constantly die on me as well. I usually run the agfrc or the shift Rc servos now. They are absolute monsters and I’ve never killed one yet! Not even on my 1/10 rigs where I use them for shift servos etc. bit.ly/3KsSZni
So i have a gladiator and stock esc. I have an sh-0255, and it was glitchy in my stock esc deadbolt and was sure it was what fried the esc. But i am running it in my gladiator and its glitchy too, and my controlers car battery light goes orange and then red with fully charged battery. Im not getting much help on fb, its always super appreciated 🙏
@@shaneclark5506 I would honestly guess it’s a power hungry servo. Savox servos are very power hungry. Even their 1/10 servos sometimes cause problems like this. I’d try replacing it with a reefs 99 or one of these. I’ve had awesome luck out of the agfrc & feel it’s the same thing as the reefs. I run them in my 1/10 rig for dig and it never fails. It’ll ripped the mount off if the end points aren’t set lol amzn.to/3pDc9Oc

I’d definitely message Furitek about them. They’ve been really good about helping with any issues. There is a bit of a language barrier at times so bare with them but they are very helpful. If you’ve updated them and calibrated them to your transmitter then that’s probably about all you can do honestly.
Is the end points set or steering dual rate not maxing it out too much? Possibly steering link screws too tight creating a slight bind in the steering? I’ve found that there are a lot of fake Emax servos floating around out there. I now just buy these and cry once. These servos are unstoppable lol amzn.to/3dckJQq
Might half to! Will the servo fit in the Emax mounting bracket? They always seam to fail electronically The motor is still working it just can’t tell where it’s positioned causing the motor to freak out and react like it’s in a bind. I took one apart and played with the little “sensor” for lack of a better word. Thanks for the wisdom 🙏
It’s not. Those are the shapeways links. They were the option before everyone started making the aluminum links. Still plastic but no slop. I couldn’t handle stock links with it either. No way lol. You have a link for a reefs servo for me? I have one of the new gladiators and I have already been through one stock servo and just went through an emax. You think that reefs servo will fit in the Gladiator ?
My scx24 stock servo is making a loud beaming noise ? Have you heard of this before ?
Will the reefs servo fit in a gladiator
Can you do a build on the jeep because i have a jeep and would like to see a build on a jeep because I haven't seen a builds on a scx24 jeep.
If you search through my old vids I have my complete jeep setup in a video. I’m still running it the same way because it works really well.
@@2fmrc ok thanks, I think you should choose your jeep for your next build.
i like the AGF B13
Haven’t tried it yet. It’s good huh? May have to give it a shot!
@@2fmrc I'm about to upload a video on my latest run on my page
@@brianlongto866 I’ll check it out!
where you get these steering links?
sold me on the reefs. thanks lol
Congratulations.
You left out JR and Futaba. There are some excellent micro servos made for the aviation crowd. They've been doing this way longer
Yeah tons of great options out there really. Hard to cover them all! I honestly just run the mofo or agfrc anymore. These are just 3 names I see mentioned all the time by people with Scx24s
@@2fmrc cool, I get ya I was just pointing out some more high quality options.
Be well, have fun.
As a starter which upgrade servo would you recommend
Probably the Emax. It’s cheap and works really well. Also probably the easiest to mount up. Very good servo for the money.

@@tutorialjoe5595 anytime! I always try to catch the comments if I can.
I’m running rampcramp servo in my Scx24 it does the job lol
Yeah they work really well for the price! Much better options out there now than what I had here. It’s crazy how much the support for these micros has grown
Emax gets a thumbs down from me. Mine glitched out and then stopped working.

Hell yeah, this came just as I was asking myself this question!
Awesome! Hope it helps!
I spend a ton at A Main. I'd be glad to use your link if you want to send it to me.
Does anyone know if the Toyota hard body fit on a scx24 jeep.
will the reefs 99 fit on a stock chassis scx24......... I'm looking into building a parts list and need advice. thanks
Best servo I found was a AGFRC A11CLS ......NO ISSUES WITH SERVO MOUNTS ...NO OVERSOZED SERVO ....LAST NO MODS TO SERVO TO CLEAR FRAME......SORRy about caps...lol
Yeah the agfrc servos are killer! I run the A20 for all of my dig units on my 1/10s. It’s the same as the reefs 99 but a bit cheaper lol
The a11cls is more for mini z cars as it is only 11g compared to the a20cls which is 20g and cheaper.
@@braelighty6212 You do realize it will not fit into a stock mount on SCX24. If your RC is stock and you want a better servo well this is a eazy choice not the EMAX servo junk....
@@tomandrews5392 I had an emax servo mount and it fits perfectly , but you can mod stock to fit.
@@braelighty6212 Can we please agree to disagree and move no PLEASE
Super cool buddy !!
With reefs or savox servo do I need to run a Bec or will they work with the stock esc
I’ve ran both with the stock esc with no issues!
my c10 struggles to turn left. hops turning left. added treal links and emax servo... still does it :--(
Could be the dog bone coming out of the cup a bit at full turn and causing binding. Idk? Hard to tell without having it in front of me.
Traxxis Trx4 servo fits like a glove
It hurts me too much to use a Traxxas servo 😆

Thanks for sharing 👏😇😁
Hi Matt would the reefs servo be a good option for the fcx24 with bigger wheels and brass parts my emax one cant handle the mods
We have a lot of really good options now and honestly I prefer the torq mls servos. For the price they are hard to beat! Probably my favorite servo overall is still the shift nano m. Love the look of it and it’s insanely fast and strong. But priced a little higher. The reefs is good and strong also so I don’t think you can go wrong with it still.
www.helidirect.com/products/torq-mls-1022b-premium-high-torque-servo-for-axial-scx24-black?sca_ref=6910616.7XRTHtxB4e&
I was wondering how long a emac lasts for you?
As I have gone through 5 in 3 months.
The worst was on the second run.
It is a scx24 gladiator
Yeah back when I made this video they were still pretty good. Unfortunately the fakes have taken over and it’s almost impossible to get a legit Emax servo now. They constantly die on me as well. I usually run the agfrc or the shift Rc servos now. They are absolute monsters and I’ve never killed one yet! Not even on my 1/10 rigs where I use them for shift servos etc.
bit.ly/3KsSZni
Or this one. Both are crazy good! The shift Rc is just a little stronger but the agfrc turns any tire with ease.
amzn.to/3wPdVzi
Thanks I’ll give them a go next
Will this stoves plug straight into the stock electric ?
Does the emaxx just drop I'm to stock esc?
So i have a gladiator and stock esc. I have an sh-0255, and it was glitchy in my stock esc deadbolt and was sure it was what fried the esc. But i am running it in my gladiator and its glitchy too, and my controlers car battery light goes orange and then red with fully charged battery. Do you think its just a shot servo from the get go and i didn't realize it?
Also can you recommend a servo for the stock gladiator esc capabilities, that can push the fullsend +10mms? Im not getting much help on fb, its always super appreciated 🙏
Or would a bad battery cause the glitchyness. Cause i sat on my butt, grabbed a new battery now its not doing its previous problems.
It’ll ripped the mount off if the end points aren’t set lol
amzn.to/3pDc9Oc
@2FM RC awesome, thank you man. I will give one of these a try.
I’ve got two tegu boards that don’t give any throttle. i’ve tried messing with the settings in the app but haven’t gotten anything. i did switch them to the brushed for one and the other is my brushless with the surpass. weird thing is that i have another tegu and that one works fine. any ideas?
I’d definitely message Furitek about them. They’ve been really good about helping with any issues. There is a bit of a language barrier at times so bare with them but they are very helpful. If you’ve updated them and calibrated them to your transmitter then that’s probably about all you can do honestly.
Do you run your emax servo on full dual rate?
On the stock remote probably so. I usually adjust it on my flysky if using it.
Okay cool thanks, my emax servo is a little noisy while turning. Thinking of upgrading to the one from moforc. Keep up the vids 🔥
@@anthonybarto4721 so far I’ve had great luck with the mofo black label. Plenty of power and no issues at all!
Will the Reefs fit in the same mount as the ES08MAII?
Mine did lol
The heat comes from the savox being over worked
Yeah if I run hard for a good solid battery or 2 you can tell it’s putting in work lol
I keep killing Emax servos left and right. Any suggestions to whats going on? I'm not abusing them
Is the end points set or steering dual rate not maxing it out too much? Possibly steering link screws too tight creating a slight bind in the steering? I’ve found that there are a lot of fake Emax servos floating around out there. I now just buy these and cry once. These servos are unstoppable lol
amzn.to/3dckJQq
Might half to! Will the servo fit in the Emax mounting bracket?
They always seam to fail electronically The motor is still working it just can’t tell where it’s positioned causing the motor to freak out and react like it’s in a bind. I took one apart and played with the little “sensor” for lack of a better word.
Thanks for the wisdom 🙏
Oh and will the Emax servo horn fit the new servo?
@@johncarney287 the new one comes with one so no worries
Ecopower 640t!
It pains me seeing the 99 paired with the stock linkage lol
It’s not. Those are the shapeways links. They were the option before everyone started making the aluminum links. Still plastic but no slop. I couldn’t handle stock links with it either. No way lol. Only reason they are on the Jeep is I swapped them out for another truck. The Jeep has just caught the leftover parts for a bit because I’m about to tear it apart and go all new anyway lol
@@2fmrc Ah ok lol, I am relieved.
@@vinnyisntgud7221 haha! I’m pretty sure it would’ve snapped the stock links by now. That’s the first thing to go when I get a new 1/24. That slop drives me insane!
