Recently been looking at this game and it makes me genuinely sad to understand that this may be the last time I'll be looking at Total Biscuit's content to influence a decision to buy something. His taste was always similar to mine and he always went in-depth with what I felt was pretty important. He never knew me but I'll probably remember his voice forever. Much love to anyone feeling something similar.
Was just debating to buy the game, saw he had a positive review over it on his old Steam Curator. I felt a sad sense of nostalgia... and also subsequently bought it.
i have a character which is engineer. this is what follows me: my pet (obviously) health bot gun bot sledge bot sceletal swordsman (summoned by the pet) devil imp (summoned by the pet) 4 (immobile) sceletal archers (summoned by the pet) i have a whole army of pet/minions following me at all the times. it is pretty hillarious. plus i have the blitz tech tree so i am jumbing around and hitting the ground like a maniac. fun times XD
+Cro68 Pets will in fact outscale your character if the RNG gods haven't been that favorable to you, this becomes slightly apparent at level 30 and becomes extremely obvious at level 55+. It's quite embarrassing and puts you down at first, but once you start grabbing better gear you will become much stronger than your pet, that is, assuming most of your gear doesn't give you % pet damage, which you can if you had a summoning build, letting your skeletal minions/pet do all the tanking and spanking for you
Hellgate was actually shaping up to be good before Flagship got stabbed in the back by their investors. I thinks it's big problem was publishers and investors forced a release way before it was ready.
God I miss TB, it’s largely thanks to him that I swore off buying games from so called triple A developers and instead prefer to patronize small/mid sized and indie devs. I’ve not only have been very happy with that decision, but I’ve ended up with far more titles, most of which I’ve put far more hours into than I would have AAA games, while spending a fraction of what the AAA games cost.
I highly recommend the Synergies mod. Description: “SynergiesMOD is a complete conversion for Torchlight 2. Adding 108 Elite monsters, 6 Rare dragons, 28 Raid dungeons, 11 unique World Bosses, 4 Sets of Legendary Armor, 16 new Tier-1 Legendary Weapons, brand new Quest lines, a new World hub for ACT5, and a whole new class: The Necromancer. Future plans include 24 planned Classes, 3 more Raid Dungeon chains, 2 Quest hubs, 2 more ACTS of overworld play, and much more.
Downloaded torchlight 1 a long time ago, beat it and enjoyed it. Rediscovered it a while ago, beat it and enjoyed it. Started to play it again more recently, about to beat it and still enjoying it. Got it in my head to see if a new one would ever show up to top it, and here i am.... enjoying this video.
I played diablo 3 on my bros computer for a few hours and just by watching footage of this, this looks so much more appealing because the movement ALONE looks so much more smooth and fluid and not so clunky. Great vid TB keep up all the awesome work you do.
I played a little with my brother but other than that I've been soloing...I never D2 much. My first dungeon game I played for hours was Darkstone for playstation I love it of course this is a big step up. I usually play as a warrior/engineer even outside of video-games but when my friends and I had our own magical world in our back yard challenging trees with sticks we found. I just enjoy hacking away at things. Torchlight works great on my mediocre computer and looks great too.
Did anybody else notice that "Blair's Journal" at the end was a big reference to Carpenter's version of "The Thing"? The writing was a transcript of MacReady's audio tape. Man that's cool.
Gotta love the fact that they put in a reference to the movie "The Thing", considering the "Thing" inside the (Norsk Leiern) dungeon at the end of the video ^^
I really feel like the skill system either emphasizes having passives and having a diverse number of actives. Certain passives can do a great a deal and usually one rank in an active works pretty well because of the fact that most things scale along with player level and player damage along with rank. Having a lot of actives really makes for compelling combat and the passives can greatly increase dps or add a lot of fun side effects to your attacks.
I remember when i was about 5, my cousin, siblings (all about 1-3 years older than ) fought over a computer playing Diablo 2 which belonged to my uncle. We will always gather around and watch everyone scour the first act or two, we sucked so we never made it that far. But as we grew up we grew in skill too and within a couple of years we figured out how to actually build classes and such and by the time we were all teens we have become regulars doing hardcore runs on each of our own comps.
I wouldn't say torchlight two is more for kiddish people. I would say it's for people that are looking for a vibrant game with variety, one with a sense of exploration. It's one of the things I loved about the beta for this. There were a lot of things to explore and find. Every new game brought a new map for more adventure because even the same environments manage to feel different. Simply amazing.
It will not have separated saves for online. Read the TL2 FAQ on Runic's site: "There are no official closed servers with server-side character saves, as Runic does not have the resources to run that kind of system under this price" You'll be able to play with your offline chars in peer-to-peer matchmaking.
i cannot wait for this , I paid for this back in may and i found out that i couldnt play it cause it wasnt out so ive waited untill now to play, AND ONLY 4 DAYS LEFT OMG JIZZFACE THUMBS THIS UP IF YOUR GONNA PLAY IT WHEN ITS OUT
Just watched the MJG Spring footage, and the offer still stands. I will buy the beer in North Dakota, if he comes for (random, I admit) an interview. I'll beg.
You can always put a class-restricted game into your shared stash and use it as soon as you want to play as this appropriate class. And they are pretty rare.
I don't know if someone pointed this out but, anyway... last part of the video (second dungeon, where he finds the "cthulhu" thing"), that actually is a "The Thing" easter egg... the ice coffin, the kennels with the bad (infected in the movie) dog... aaaand, MacReady's shotgun. Mac-effin-Ready's shotgun hahaha, that was a great detail there! I wonder if there are other easter eggs like this or if they are "randomly" generated. (obvously we're talking about John Carpenter's version)
MATT UELMEN MUSIC RETURNS!! I cannot get over how glorious it sounds and completely enriches the atmosphere. I fucking LOVE OLD BLIZZARD. Thumbs up if the music consumed you...
I know what you mean about the combat! I usually HATE mages and I played through Torchlight 1 as an alchemist as my first character, and loved every minute of it. Super excited for this.
I skimmed through the video and noticed you had glaive throw equiped twice. Not sure if you know this but right next to your mana the main skill (right click) can be switched to a second skill with the tab button. Typically I set one high damage one and one evasive one and then the rest to the 3-9 hotkeys
4 classes - Berserker (DPS warrior), Embermage (squishy mage), Outlander (rogue), and Engineer (tank, shades of support) The descriptions are just rough approximations to give an idea of what they do.
They weren't laid off, around 30 employees quit blizzard north to form their own. Including the executives, eventually they formed Runic Entertainment to create the torchlight series. When they were still working for Blizzard they had an idea of what D3 would look like but Blizzard shot it down so they left to pursue their own ideas of what rpg games are like.
indeed, I hope this game brings me what I want in one of my fav genres. i've been convinced to preorder it from all the positive feedback of many vids. Also considering you get the first game free upon preordering
The reason there are skills that buff for like 4 seconds is due to the fact that they'd be completely OP if it weren't so... If Stone Pact gave you a 20 second heal and all you had to do was step in the aura of it for a second, that'd make you nearly unkillable. As it stands, monsters can rush you out of the Aura, and you can lose the effectiveness of it, or wait to recast it. It's something you plan around and play through, and makes the gameplay incredibly fast-paced.
This video is awesome, I like it a lot. I'd ask you to make more about Torchlight 2, pity that there is no beta out at the moment. And the release date of the game is far from today, I fear!
question: I got this game yesterday and i burned through it and now i'm at act III. I'm only a measly lv 35 outlander and i heard the game ends in act IV. After the story ends, is there anything left to do in the game? like more dungeons? or is that it?
I pre-ordered the game through steam way back when and I can say no matter what price you pay, there is a lot of value in TL2. If you can get it for 10 bucks or even cheaper buy an additional copy and get a friend into it, you will not regret it.
It's not the quality of graphics people have a gripe with - it's the style. Same problem some of us had when Warcraft went from dark and gritty to colorful and cartoonish - felt like a whole new game series to some of us and was enough to turn us off. Artistic style is very important in a game, because it helps set the tone and atmosphere.
I know this might seem like a dumb question but will you be able to get a physical copy of Torchlight 2 at a gaming store like Diablo 3 and not download it through Steam?
@TotalHalibut Mate, no way this is faster than D3. This looks interesting, but saying it is faster is just plain false. That goes for back in the beta when this was made as well. Nice video, I'll be checking out more of the game thanks to this.
It's fun! It's super fun! And playing on Veteran on the first act boss is actually really giving me a run for my money, and I'm pleasantly surprised. :D
Really looking forward to this. Torchlight was my favorite Diablo-style game, and now to play in a bigger world with multiplayer will be excellent. Already pre-ordered for me and my partner. Might be more casual, whatever that means, than other options, but it's the funnest for me and my mates who go to other games for hardcore options.
i just got this is there anyway to make the control to move easy becuase im used to using the arrow keys or better yet th aswd keys. if there is please telll me.
I like the skill tree and I think it -is- a strength of the game. This is essentially a roguelike. Trying to streamline it into somthing else just changes the whole point of having skills.
Is there a big map for this game? i've been playing it for like 10 mins and the small top-right map shows me almost nothing, like im walking on blind. please help,ty
Don't know if you were responded to or not but you can go back through the game again in a new game+ style but it actually has a few new quests and things.
Torchlight 2 is going to come with the updated TorchED editor. The exact same tool Runic uses to actually build the game. They are the best company ever when it comes to mod support.

Sad
Did he die?
@@ionflux955 yes on the 24th of May 2018
I miss him too man
I still have my notifications turned on for this channel.
Recently been looking at this game and it makes me genuinely sad to understand that this may be the last time I'll be looking at Total Biscuit's content to influence a decision to buy something. Well said
I know and I miss him too!
Was just debating to buy the game, saw he had a positive review over it on his old Steam Curator. I felt a sad sense of nostalgia... and also subsequently bought it.
Diablo 3 is about as grimdark and mature as Scooby Doo.
Damn son.
i have a character which is engineer. this is what follows me:
my pet (obviously)
health bot
gun bot
sledge bot
sceletal swordsman (summoned by the pet)
devil imp (summoned by the pet)
4 (immobile) sceletal archers (summoned by the pet)
i have a whole army of pet/minions following me at all the times. it is pretty hillarious. plus i have the blitz tech tree so i am jumbing around and hitting the ground like a maniac. fun times XD
Ace Ventura of Torchlight II.... I like you already..
coming back to watch this video after The TL3 announcement has a Bittersweet feeling to it, We miss you TB
Especially since Torchlight 3 sucks balls.
Was this in my recommended list.
May he be adjusting FOV sliders in heaven now

You are a Brit like me, it's not Zee it's Zed you plank.
RIP TB you were amazing at what you do. and I always enjoyed your videos press f to pay respects.
I've recently put close to 70 hours into T2, and I didn't know you could give your pets spells! Thanks TB!!!
Nice!
Hellgate was actually shaping up to be good before Flagship got stabbed in the back by their investors. I thinks it's big problem was publishers and investors forced a release way before it was ready.
I finally got bored of this game! After 103 hours of gameplay..

My pet is a badger named honey :3
I like this game better then Diablo III because I don't like Diablo's leveling system.
miss hearing your voice dude.
we lost a real one.

"I've Fought Goblins, I've Fought Zombies, And now I'm fighting King Pogg and i don't know WHAT the hell that thing is" that is the best line...ever
Goodnight, sweet prince.
this game is so thought out and worked through. some games feel like work, this game sends shivers down my spine of excitement. good review

My favorite game of this genre.
Pre Ordered for PS4. Drops Tuesday. Hope it's good
Did anybody else notice that "Blair's Journal" at the end was a big reference to Carpenter's version of "The Thing"? The writing was a transcript of MacReady's audio tape.
Man that's cool.
That dungeon at the end, the Norse Leiren, wasn't in my world at all. Apparently the random generation includes changing which dungeons you get.
Gotta love the fact that they put in a reference to the movie "The Thing", considering the "Thing" inside the (Norsk Leiern) dungeon at the end of the video ^^
i noticed how when a bunch of items drop the text stacks on top rather than overlaying like in TC1. So nice!
I got this game on steam a few days ago, and im completely in love with it!
Wow, this game's looking even better than I thought and I was already anticipating it before.
*drool*

i hope torchlight 2 will still support the modding community, the mods for the first game are amazing. love the classes and player created lvls.

I gotta say, this game is a lot better then I expected, I pre-purchase it on Steam and got Torchlight one, which I'm enjoying quite a lot :D.

MATT UELMEN MUSIC RETURNS!!

I know what you mean about the combat! I usually HATE mages and I played through Torchlight 1 as an alchemist as my first character, and loved every minute of it. Super excited for this.
Buying this tonight hopefully, I'm a bit late of course, but im mainly buying it to play with a few friends. Is the co-op good?
Did the map not randomly generate in the beta? This dungeon and the overworld are exactly like mine were in the beta.
I skimmed through the video and noticed you had glaive throw equiped twice. Not sure if you know this but right next to your mana the main skill (right click) can be switched to a second skill with the tab button. Torchlight 2 and Marvel Heroes are both create by some of the core developers from the old Blizzard North who worked on Diablo 2.
indeed, I hope this game brings me what I want in one of my fav genres. i've been convinced to preorder it from all the positive feedback of many vids. Also considering you get the first game free upon preordering
Can't you still shift+click for your pet to pick up stuff? I used that a lot in Torchlight for the white drops.
The reason there are skills that buff for like 4 seconds is due to the fact that they'd be completely OP if it weren't so...

is the mp maps the same as single player ones or different ? and is there plans for expansion pack in the near future ?
September? Did they say they were going to release it in September? I thought they said they were aiming for a late July/ early August release date.
can't wait for this second Torchlight! :)) but why do all classes run so fast in every video!? :S
is the requires class engineer locked to that second requirement, or once you hit 23 you can wear it regardless of class?
This video is awesome, I like it a lot. I'd ask you to make more about Torchlight 2, pity that there is no beta out at the moment. And the release date of the game is far from today, I fear!
36:00 A John Carpenter moment. A tribute to a recently remade movie of his. A really, really good one. Nice one Runic. :)
question: I got this game yesterday and i burned through it and now i'm at act III. I'm only a measly lv 35 outlander and i heard the game ends in act IV. After the story ends, is there anything left to do in the game? like more dungeons? or is that it?
The same team made Torchlight and Diablo.
I pre-ordered the game through steam way back when and I can say no matter what price you pay, there is a lot of value in TL2. If you can get it for 10 bucks or even cheaper buy an additional copy and get a friend into it, you will not regret it.
TB! Do you know there is a setting to turn off white items from showing up! In the options!
you get both, i preordered during the steam sale
yes youll receive it even if you only see torchlight 2 in the basket. I preordered it aswell and received the first. Totally worth it.
Together with The Witcher, Torchlight and Magicka were probably the coolest games I played the last couple of years. Looking forward to TL2.
I see that you have a Boomstick as a weapon, this allows me to say this:
"This is my, BOOMSTICK! " quote from Warcraft 3 Rifleman.
lol are you talking about the main quest?...(the skyrim length thingy)
I know this might seem like a dumb question but will you be able to get a physical copy of Torchlight 2 at a gaming store like Diablo 3 and not download it through Steam?

I believe they're referring, albeit vaguely, to the sticky targeting in Torchlight.
are there the storage chests like the first?
Yes, there is are two. Personal and shared (for all your characters).
He's very opinionated, but also extremely fair, and Totalbiscuit's shows are always worth the watch/listen.
wow FATE was a great game. this really reminds me of that
uploaded on my birthday :D
Really looking forward to this. Torchlight was my favorite Diablo-style game, and now to play in a bigger world with multiplayer will be excellent. Already pre-ordered for me and my partner. Might be more casual, whatever that means, than other options, but it's the funnest for me and my mates who go to other games for hardcore options.

''Plus I rather like my ferret, he's pretty adorable.'' - Totalbiscuit 2012
Aghhhhh, I remember Fate. Good times
Is there a set release date for this yet?
They fixed all the issues you talked about!
I really want this game! I havent been this excited about a game since...well Kingdoms of Amalur and we all know what happened there, but im pretty sure Torchlight 2 will kick ass!
Guild Wars 2, Torchlight 2 and Battlefield 3 - Armored kill coming out soon, can this year get any better?
restart game, or download it again etc
just curious
what will you say about diablo now?
they already reworked the skill system in TL2, it now has tiers that on top of passive upgrades give bonus effects to your skills and changes them visably, if you want all the info go to the torchlight2 site.
TB, could you please do revisiting Torchlight 2 part 2 and maybe show some multiplayer.
So how exactly does the online multiplayer option work in this game?
This game is bringing back that D2 feel. If you haven't played it yet, you're missing out.
It's not pay-to-win, and it's not shit-ape crazy difficult. TL2 is bringing back the Action-RPG that we, hardcore Action-RPG players love.
There is an item threshold in the options menu.
