- This tutorial is the latest installation guide for Switch emulation on Batocera 34 and above. Both Yuzu and Ryujinx are working in Batocera. It is also now easier to upgrade to their latest builds. I have never figured out how to get yuzu to detect my dlc. Is there a specific folder to place it in? And do you point to it using the yuzu gui?
@@1EinJESUS you have to install the DLC through the file menu. Start the game and then hit esc. Go to the file menu and install files.

Thank you so much for this update I had to go back to Batocera V34 and I was hoping that you would come to my rescue.
I got an arcade cabinet with Batocera inside (v34). I managed to set up everything perfectly, except Demon Slayer on Switch (it loads, but crashes when the intro loads, like Mario Strikers before someone made a fix). I think I'll keep things as they are, at least for now (I'm a bit scared to mess things up, especially since I encountered some issues setting up my arcade sticks).

Check yuzu's page for their game list. Some have tweaks needed, but you could always add that yours didn't work to help the next guy.

thanks for the video but i am having trouble with typing the AltGr< thing (|) in Batocera with my keyboard... any hints?
Games run great on Steam Deck, but the hotkey to exit the game and get back into Batocera is messed up. When you hit the start button it will exit the emulation. All other emulators in Batocera require you to hit the Start AND Select button at the same time to exit. How can I change this to require hitting both Start and Select to exit the emulation for Switch? As it stands it will exit by just hitting Start, and there are some games that require the use of start to play the game. TIA
Yes, that's true. When I tested it on the Deck, I tested it on a big screen with a bluetooth controller. It works correctly with a bluetooth controller. I did reach out yesterday to the main Switch Developer and he has a fix, but he needs permission from the Batocera Team to upload his fix. Soon as it uploads, it will be fixed.
@@BatoceraNation Ran into this as well. Control layout in general was a little wonky. But I was still able to play around a little bit in some games. Touchscreen even worked. Look forward to the fix! Will we be able to update on the Deck through the menus like shown here or would it be a manual update?
This happened to me at first, but when I re-mapped my controller inside of the Yuzu emulator settings it worked like normal again.
However, I’ve noticed that Yuzu does not automatically use your last controller config. It imports the settings from Batocera/Emulation Station. Specifically from a file called es_input.cfg. The input config file inside of Yuzu recognizes each button slightly differently so it messes everything up. The band-aid fix is just to go into the config on the emulator and re-map or load a controller profile, but that gets really annoying. Especially if you don’t have a keyboard plugged in. Since you need to hit ESC to access the emulator options. I haven’t found a permanent solution yet.
@@BatoceraNation I found the actual reason & permanent solution for this behaviour of existing only with select button.....only happen to controllers with no home button or power button.....and there's also in yuzu's(maybe others too) hotkeys section yuzu exit shortcut is home+minus(or select in controller)....also there's another exit combo in custom pad to keyboard configuration which is correct according to batocera wiki.....now the problem is those whose controller has no home button(like mine) yuzu is thinking the home always pressed and existing only with select/minus button.... So the solution is simply go to yuzu's configuration>general>hotkeys and look for "exit yuzu" and there's 2 shortcuts Ctrl+Q for keyboard and Home+minus for controller, leave that keyboard one and right click on Home+minus then hit clear....and you are good to go. 🔥😊

im playing o.n the steam deck. i was having problems with the controller not configured correctly. after setting it up and saving the profile it changes back when i restart the emulator it goes back to wrong controls. so i updated the emulator in the ports and now there is a notification that open gl is not supported. so i change it to vulkan and it changes back like the controls.
Thank you for the guid.e Iset this up on the Steam Deck and I have two issues:
The button layout is wrong. If I change it with the Link from the File Manager, it is reset in every game and I have to change it manually for every single game. Is there a solution to change the button layout permanently?
I also updated the earl access version. It does not stat though. Running it from the console it tells me the library libthai.so.0 is missing.

I use a Ryzen 9 5900HX (Vega 8) 32gbRAM to play.
On Windows, the game Trials of Mana runs very well on both Yuzu and Ryujinx, however on Linux (Batocera 35), the game doesn't even reach the title screen on either emulator. On Yuzu, the game keeps loading forever, displaying only a few animals jumping in the lower right corner of the screen, while on Ryujinx, when starting this loading, the game crashes closing the emulator.
Does this happen to everyone? Is there anything that can be done or just pray and hope for improvements in the emulators!?

Is there a way to map the ps4 controller ? I tried to go in yuzu for mapping the controller but it do not seem to detect the ps4 controller. And it was working very well in bato v33. How to fix that ?
, i am stuck lol i do everything it says on the video but when i go to the batocera menu i see the switch emu pop up.. go into it the games have not image or preview video.. i click the game and it closes the game (so doesnt boot the game)

Thanks for this. For yuzu, The controller profile never saves though. Everytime I load a game I must use keyboard and hit ESC to reconfigure controller. Even from botacera ui under Per System Advanced I select Pro Controller under Pad 1 and it won't recognize inputs when playing.

@@BatoceraNation this is not correct and was a miscommunication. I literally just need steam deck users to submit the appropriate files so I can update the code.
Same here on my PC. I am using an external bluetooth controller and I can't save a profile.

For some reason my Yuzu configuration doesnt save. I go in and change the backend to OpenGL and it constantly defaults to vulkan which causes an error
The updater doesn't work anymore is there the absolute latest version of yuzu somewhere or how do I manually install?
ok so, this is a weird one, the game loads and the controller window pops up which is set to docked and pro controller. Once i click OK the game launches but displays upside down! I tried slecting undocked but get the same thing. Any ideas? UPDATE: switched from and XCI to the NSP and now its fine, but the controls are messed up, even though showing fine in the configurator its not saving it when loading up the game. At the minute i have to bring up the configurator in game, apply a saved controller profile and then it works, but after quitting the game its back to not working again. Is there a way to stop batocera from autoloading this weird controller config?

I’m in the process of setting up the Switch on Batocera. I’m having trouble installing the ryujinx emulator itself on my system. I noticed the AppImage files for the emulator. Do I need to use that file to install the emulator on Batocera
Please help! I try to use ryujinx but it won't work when i try to open a game from batocera! If i open the amulator from folder after clicking f1 it works but if i open from batocera it crashes 😢
Greetings, this week the installer and updater started to have connection problems, seeming to have gone offline. Coincidentally, this week I ended up losing folders on my batocera and would need to install it again, however a "no internet connection" message always appears after trying to run the command through the terminal. Could you make available or share the appimage files of the five switch emulators!?
I followed this step by step, however the game does not load when you enter Switch in the main screen, it only loads the rom from the back end... Any help with this?

I have also a little problem with my Controller. On Batocera 34 and the old yuzu version on a nomal PC, i used the Originsl Pro Controller very well.
I only had one issue there. Whenever I exited a Switch Game using the hotkey, the controller stopped working on the Batocera interface.
I had to turn the Pro Controller off and on again after each Switch game to be able to operate Batocera again.
That was only a little problem.
But now, in Batocera 35 and with the new Yuzu version, I can now only use the Pro Controller if I manually set the Pro Controller in the Yuzu configuration for every game and every game start. Whats going on here? I have tried to pair the Pro Controller new, i saved test profiles in the Yuzu config, but nothing helps.

I just read a few comments below spomeone has the same problem and there is already a fix, but it needs permission from the batocera theam? That would be very nice!
The main Developer for this is working on a fix. Doesn't need permission from the Team after all. Although I used a 8bitDo controller without any problems. I ran into problems when using it on the Steam Deck without the Bluetooth controller. Again, some type of fix is coming.

@@BatoceraNation I have now read a lot on the net and decided to buy an 8bitdo Pro 2. It actually works perfectly. Finally even with a rumble function. I think that's probably the best solution, because the Pro Controller often causes problems here and there. Is there actually a way to use the gyro function (e.g. for Splatoon)?

When I load a game from the normal method (eg select Switch then choose game from the scroll wheel) it returns almost immediately back to the scroll wheel list (therefore not working), but when I go into F1, then Yuzu config and see the Yuzu gamelist from there, I have the option to run the game from there, and it works.
Any idea why I can load the game from inside the emulator from F1 screen and config of Yuzu, but if I load from normal method game goesn't work.
I do have Yuzu set as the default emulator so the normal method is trying to load Yuzu. Any help much appreciated.
wont it delete all of my other bios files if I pressed overwrite when I move the files to the share folder?
So I have it all loaded onto a micro sd card all seems to load up the game fine but then the controls don't work on my steam deck I also tried booking the card on my gaming computer all works fine until I boot up the game then no controls work it says press start no matter if I press start on my gaming controller or my steam deck I can't control the game any advice would be very much appreciated as I've spent so long on this

Followed instructions still won't start switch games just kicks me back out just blank text files in applications -- I got it 👍 great guide all the files wasn't copied onto the hdd had to check it to fix
So you got it to work? Did I understand that when you first copied your files, it didn't copy it properly?

it should be the same, because they are the keys from an original switch console.

Not saving the game or not saving the controller settings? But the Developer has not updated anything yet. As a workaround, I've used Ryujinx since the controller works well when I use that emulator.

This is yet another exciting video. My laptop does NOT have the Switch folder. This is the 3rd video that i could NOT follow due to this problem. Is my system too old and that is why my system folders are not there or am i doing something wrong? Thank u so much!
Remember switch is not officially supported by Batocera, so we have to add it ourselves

After running the last time I updated the emulators the yuzu and ryujinx config no longer opens. Was fine before. Hopefully this can be fixed?

The steam deck controls are all messed up I changed them in settings but it goes right back to the other setup d pad and abxy messed up
This works very well... Until. Has anyone tried playing streets of rage 4? Everytime the game loads it don't detect my xbox controller. It's more or like I need a nintendo switch pro controller to play this game. Do I. But other than that. Emulation works very good 👍

So after did 5 times this process step by step i cant get it to works. When i press f1 and go in application the 2 ryu and yuzu logos are not showing properly , its like they are broken. And when im in bato games selection and go in advance settings i can only see the emulator selection and nothing else. So i dont know what is going on . If anybody is having the same issue and found a solution , let me know. Thanks.
Sometimes the buttons on ryujinx switch for some reason. In the input settings im not able to change anything. Anyone got a idea what to do to fix it?
thanks for update, i still looking for way to set my own hotkeys on retroarch V35, only find one way that install V32 set my keys then update to V35 is working but not so perfect
Don't know what's going on there with the hotkeys. Might want to post your problem on Batocera’s official Batocera.org forums.
I Followed your tutorial to the letter... the games work but the controller will not except start and the hotkey. I press F1 to go into linux menu on my keyboard and I load into Yuzu that way through applications and the controller works perfect but not when I load through Emulation Station. Any Ideas why? by the way, this is on my computer not a Steam Deck

When i play game in Batocera (Steam Deck) and it will enter and out (No shown loading bar). But if i play game from yuzu-config and it work. What's the problem i may missed ?
I have the same problem. Game works fine when started from yuzu-config, but I'm unable to start it from Batocera directly (closes prompt).

Very helpful video, I do have one problem that I hope someone can help me out with. Everytime a boot a game I have to manually go in and assign my xbox controller. Is there away to set this so my controller settings loads with the game?

I seem to have deleted my old saves of the Switch games with this upgrade workaround. Where are they stored? How can I make a backup of this so it doesn't happen again? So now i have to install all game updates and dlc packs for new, is it right? And the Game Save states now in heaven? sh*** ;-)
Unfortunately so. Most saves are stored on the userdata/saves folder. These are stored on userdata/system/configs/yuzu or /ryujinx folder.
@@BatoceraNation And I've been wondering why I can't find any switch savestates in the share/saves folder... damn. Anyway, it happened. Now I also know why I was shown almost 130 GB to delete.

does anyone have an issue with ryujinx crashing right when you start a game in batocera, but in the applications menu after pressing F1 and opening the emulator and then starting a game it does work? anyone know how to get ryujinx working properly as a couple games run easier on it(mario kart 8 and new super mario broes delux)?

Since Switch isnt officially supported by Batocera as yet and you added it manually updating Batocera may break it, cant be sure but possible.

Did it ever work at any time? If it did, make sure all the old files were deleted before you copy the new files. If it never worked at any time then it might mean your system can't handle it.
Agree with Batocera Nation. Delete the old folders if you've done it before. That was my problem and it worked when I deleted old folders and copied over fresh (no overwriting)
Also my PC Is pretty low end (integrated graphics only) but I can somewhat playing 2d switch games
@@BatoceraNation I failed to copy the prod and keys files. I thought I did. Idk. My new issue is that I'm using the steam deck and the controls are messed up and when I remap them it doesn't save. Not sure if it's an issue with the beta or whatever but idk.
Awesome video sir but I have a question about ppsspp for my steam deck. Just watched your psp setup for replacing textures and followed everything, but I have tried absolutely everything to dump the texture files and I cannot get any textures to dump and don’t get the “new” folder in textures. I’ve tried everything. Deleting the game (Daxter) and reinstalling and retrying but I have had no luck whatsoever. I also tried just throwing my new textures in the textures folder and inside the game ID folder to see if it would do anything but nothing changed. Really hope you can help because I don’t know what else to do. Maybe textures for psp doesn’t work on steam deck idk.
