- On May 12th, 2011 'Deep Purple and Beyond: Scenes from the Life of a Rock Star' will be published. "There are things that I never told anybody until the book", Hughes told FaceCulture about his autobiography. "Let's just say that I disappeared in the 90s for a while. Nobody knew where I was, and I didn't tell anybody. I was basically being another person under another name, being completely isolated. It almost killed me."
"There is no greater city in the world to go 'dark' than Amsterdam. If you want weird, it's here. And the fact of the matter is that it got so fucking weird that it scared the shit out of me. I went to the edge of the cliff of insanity. Then I had this clarity moment where I said: I can either jump and go insane, or turn back and become the man I am now."

It's very apparent that Tommy Bolins death has affected him deeply.
They were best friends and yes, everyone knows about the Karen Ulibarri situation and I think perhaps Glenn feels some guilt for that.
Cocaine is an awful drug, and it would have impaired his judgement for sure.
I don't know why Karen went with Glenn as I don't know the circumstances, but I wish Glenn the very best, and I'm glad he came back from the edge.
RIP Tommy Bolin and Sheila and Bill Hughes.
Why Karen went with Glenn? He was a "better" i mean more known rock star with loooooots of money. That's just this simple. Sadly money doesn't make people happy, they divorced very soon.
Alot of us have dealt, or are dealing with, some pretty bad demons. That being said, Medusa by Trapeze is one of the most baddest ass albums on the planet!
Also Hotwire.
Let's just say,,,,,Party on Garth!! Glenn your the greatest!
Let's just say... still the voice of rock
I love glen, what a great man
Strange our paths never crossed.
Just got Blackmores Bio, think I'll get Glens now.
Dear Glenn Hughes 1974 I visited my uncle, me from Beirut Lebanon, he In Los Angeles, I was 16 then.
HIS gf invited us to Devore California jam and we saw you base sing with David C BURN....WOW...you were on top of the world.
WHY GOING DOWN AFTER THAT????
Did Blackmore put a curse on you?
He does shit like that
Drugs fuck up everything just look and listen to Glen
I have pre ordered the Book!!!!
We are the Rock Dogs that showed you how to bark, I suppose we all face that cliff in our lives someday...I'm glad to see you doing so well, Mikey Dog rests in peace, Jacques may God Bless his Soul, I on the other hand have been to the other side of the cliff too many times. Half Hour Joe knows now there is life after death, Rock on Glenn! You are an inspiration! Hope you got rid of that F$#@ Volvo. Amen.
fantastic jewellery glenn.
I know! Right?!
Glen sounds more American as the years pass very strange still love the dude though
Lets just say
Lets just say I didn't have the success I had dreamed about and the offers had dried up....so let's just say I was a junkie and got high for 15 years. Then let's just say I bought a bunch of silver jewelry and some funny shades. If you believe it all so far then it's not so much of a stretch of the imagination if we just say "I'm Back and I am Rock and Roll". Apparently. Let's say I'm right about this...
Interesting, I never would have surmised he used that "White Liquor" as Mr. Lahey(RIP) would say
This is scary...
And he still can't keep a band together for more than two years.. a charitable view would be he's a 'restless spirit', god knows the songs still pour out of him.
Lets just say...LOL
he makes it sound like he had the kind of popularity that someone like Michael Jackson had, wanted to be anonymous? Needed to use a different name? Glenn man, in the 80s and 90s only Purple and Sabbath fans knew who you were...
I think he means on his scene. Believe me, everyone from the 70's rock scene knew who Glenn Hughes was. And they knew all about his habits.
So just millions of people knew him, then?
He wanted t be anonymous for himself,he was known as a coke scavenger they called him , well he’s fuken back n you don’t get the nickname ‘voice of rock’ for nothing he’s career is monstrous people ask him to sing their classics who does that !!
