    To be honest, I was thinking a month ago, we would 100% re-sign Stringer and co to a 2-3 year extension, Dodoro would've in a heart beat. This is exactly what we need. STOP overpaying average players to long deals. It seems players for the longest time have held the club to ransom, and I for one, are stoked the club is getting some balls. Funny how as soon as Dodoro is gone, the unnecessary, and ridiculous length of contracts has halted, almost immediately.
    Also, with the draft being as strong and deep as it's meant to be, and we apparently have 2 picks, we really should be trading a lot of players to build the list before Tassie comes in.

      We'll see how ruthless Matt Rosa really is, Parish needs to be sent packing while he's still worth something. All he does is interfere with what Durham and Caldwell WERE DOING when he was out injured.
      I'd stand every single Essendon player who's on a ridiculous long term contract in the same room as Darcy Parish when he's suddenly told he's surplus to requirements (which he is.) THEN you'd see some effort from all those boys (including Mackay, what a waste of bloody good money) instead of them wondering round like nothing matters.
      Do I hate Darcy Parish? Not at all, I don't care about him... I live in Queensland and will likely never meet the bloke. @@JMKeynes8491No top team will want Stringer regardless of his 42 goals. At best Carlton would probably take him. Otherwise he ends up at another middling road team like St Kilda or Melbourne.
      We have Issac Kako coming in who is very highly rated and could easily have a 2018 Jaidyn Stephenson or 2022 Jack Ginnivan borderline star level debut year. Nic Martin will more than likely move to a high half forward/wing role with Archie Roberts now in the team and Saad El Hawli likely coming through. He possesses a lot of natural small forward craft anyway. Even though he hasn't exactly developed much, Archie Perkins is naturally a Stringer type of player with very similar traits to him. So maybe and I may be stretching a bit here with him gone Perkins may be unleashed. But like I said that could be quite a stretch. Either way the forward line will have a lot more pace next season which hopefully comes with a much better, much improved fast ball movement style of gameplan to match it. It could be argued that Stringer won games for us this year, though surely this must not be taken as a positive... given that we missed the 8 again. If Stringer Had really been consistent for the entire year and Had been accurate in front of goal, then surely we Would be in the 8... but we're not. (and he wasn't.)

    Thanks for the vid. Sorry mate, but I could not disagree with you more. If a player is not good enough to be on an AFL list, that's where the story ends. I'm so sick of the B.S around "depth". Well if another AFL club is in the market for a slow "defender" with poor defensive skills, poor decision making, poor disposal and is consistently beaten by average players then Laverde is your man....Hell, have Kelly as well.
    We let players waste away in the 2's cause they "are not ready". Look what happens when you give them a chance...Bryan, Roberts Caddy. Sheedy played Fletch, when he was a schoolboy, on Kernahan in a GF for christ sake! We have been a nice club for way too long, especially since the supps debacle, keeping players when they should be moved on. As it is we may lose Hobbs and Tsatas because of this approach.
    We have a solid core of good players, but we need to cut deep. The next 2 drafts - which supposedly run deep - may be our last chance to get talent in before tassie. Otherwise, we stay the nice club and watch as north, West coast, Richmond and even Tassie go right past us. The choice may be go back a few years and build a competetive talented list, or stay middle of the road for a few decades.

    • @everythingessendon548
      @everythingessendon548  24 дня назад

      I don’t think Laverde is part of our future, but we have a key defensive zone full of injury prone players, Laverde is the only one regularly available, we can’t just hope that McKay, Ridley, Reid and Cox will have seasons without interruptions, our depth will be in a far worse position if Laverde was to leave.

      @@everythingessendon548 We will have to agree to disagree. We could have done no worse playing Hayes over Laverde...Get games into him and learn on the job. We are not in contention next year so why stuff around plodding on with sub-standard players. Every club has injurys...It's part of the game.. Carlton had a truck load and still made the finals, good clubs adapt.

      Ricky Olerenshaw was still at school too mate. He had to ask his Father if it was ok if he got a premiership tattoo! Joe Misiti was only a kid. What you're saying about the kids being wasted away in the 2nds is exactly right.
      Everyone's pissing and moaning about D'Ambrossio moving on, (and rightly so) what about Patrick Voss? He could have been inline to replace Stringer IF they'd given him a run. There he was a year ago klunkin em from everywhere every bloody week in the 2nds, then they cut him without ever running him. He must have had a photo of someone @ EFC fucking a pig.
      Then because Voss is gone, there's still no one to replace Stringer on the current list, whether you like it or not... Stringer (unbelievably) is still filling a hole. Offer him a year, though they MUST blood some kid from somewhere with the idea of replacing Stringer. It's tragic that Baldwin couldn't get on the park, he's still only a kid would could play forward... but he's gone and that's that.

    Stringer has earned a two year deal. Genuine match winner and leading goal kicker. Don’t think Leverde has. 1 year deal. He’s not Ridley. We should be doing a deal with Melbourne for Petracca (if he passes a medical) let Shiel and Wright go in exchange plus a future draft pick and go and draft Kako and Armstrong in the first two rounds.

      Stringer is a genuine part timer, who occasionally shines. When he does shine his best is very good, but it's not often enough. Anyway, he needs to be kept on a tight leash, and a one year contract will do that, otherwise he will sit on his lounge and stuff himself and do nothing else.

      Stringer may be a genuine match winner and actually second leading goal kicker behind Langford. That's all well and good but its the other mitigating factors you have to look at. Such as the fact he is still isn't professional enough after all these years both with us and the Bulldogs for the first half of his career. He is now at an age (30) where he really should be one of the leaders of the club but isn't nor can ever be trusted be.
