Here are some of my quickfire opinions: Langford is no chance of still being there at our pick, I'd almost bet my house he's gone inside the top 3. Trainor will be a good player I'm sure but we should not consider taking a key defender with the amount of holes we have elsewhere on the list. Reid we should also put a line through, another great player I'm sure but unless we trade Merrett to St. Kilda for picks 7 and 8 there's no way we should be looking at yet another small, hybrid mid to play alongside Merrett, Parish, Durham, Caldwell, Hobbs etc. Too small, too one paced. Lalor is the first player you mention as realistic option that actually makes sense, he's tall, he's dynamic, he kicks goals, he's got explosive power, he would fit in very well at Essendon, however I also believe he will be well gone by our pick especially if we get pushed outside the top 10. Allan again should not be considered, Eseendon has a terrible record of developing "utilities", Langford, Laverde, Francis, Cox are just some examples of 1st round picks we used on utility players over the past 10 years and 1 among them gets a pass mark after 7 years of trying to figure out what he is. Allan could a great wing/half back prospect with elite endurance and a good body size but I just don't Essendon will get his development right and even if we did I don't think that's the best use of our first pick. Shanahan is a reach at our pick I reckon, I personally think Armstrong is higher and would prefer him over Shanahan, however a good quality key forward isn't a bad option. As I just mentioned I'd take Armstrong over Shanahan, wouldn't be upset if we took him but I reckon Melbourne will get him before we take our first pick. Travaglia for whatever reason just doesn't excite me, in theory his stats and attributes are great but I just don't view him as a candidate for our pick, I'm not basing that on anything tangible either and realise its almost stupid but I'm just not picturing him as an Essendon player. If we're looking to bolster our half back line I'm taking Lindsay over Travaglia and I'd be very happy to get him at our pick. And lastly Tauru I haven't done any research on at all and was caught by surprise you mentioned him. At a glance I don't think a 191cm "key" defender is someone we should be considering with our pick, we have so many medium sized players on the list I don't want to add any more. My draft board is: (In descending order of my most preferred targets) 1. Smillie (Unrealistic) 2. Langford (Unrealistic) 3. Lalor 4. Armstrong 5. Lindsay 6.
