Everything has gone downhill since Sheed's was sacked. Then the monumental blunder of appointing Matthew Knights instead of Damian Hardwick as coach was a major screw up on the part of those appointing Sheeds successor.
Let me tell you what happened there. We had choose Hardwick, he was sent a fax and told if he wanted the job it's his. He had 3 hrs to reply If he didn't we'd assume he wasn't interested and we'd keep searching.. 3 hrs came and went we picked knights. Hardwick wasn't home him and the family were out. He got home 2 Hrs after the deadline... Was too late.
The AFL as a whole needs to keep gangsters away from clubs. We don't need match fixing type bullshit to ruin our great game. I love both hind and stringer but they need to separate themselves from these types of people or separate them from the club.

I follow both codes of footy in Australia and each year it comes to membership I buy a Storm membership each year as they always deliver regardless of who is on the field. I will not reward mediocrity and once again I'll keep my money and will not be purchasing a Essendon membership I also live in in SA and I'm yet to see a good membership that caters for people outside of Melbourne.

Merret 100% deserves a better contract right now based on how great has been. But the club cannot afford to budge when its trying really hard to shift its whole culture to a more positive light. The other thing too is Merret is 28 turning 29 early next month (at least that is what Google says) and any contract extension would mean it doesn't conclude until potentially his late 30's by which time he would be well past his prime and edging a lot closer to retirement. Its really unfortunate especially given the recent ludicrous extensions the likes of Parish, Redman, Wright, McGrath and even Ridley who at the time still had 3 years left. But those were terrible Adrian Dodoro's decisions and it seems like his replacement Matt Rosa is doing everything to try and clean his huge mess.

Essendon should bump up the captains contract after a best and fairest season he deserves a raise, but front end it.

Merret 100% deserves a better contract right now based on how great has been. But the club cannot afford to budge when its trying really hard to shift its whole culture to a more positive light. The other thing too is Merret is 28 turning 29 early next month (at least that is what Google says) and any contract extension would mean it doesn't conclude until potentially his late 30's by which time he would be well past his prime and edging a lot closer to retirement. Its really unfortunate especially given the recent ludicrous extensions the likes of Parish, Redman, Wright, McGrath and even Ridley who at the time still had 3 years left. But those were terrible Adrian Dodoro's decisions and it seems like his replacement Matt Rosa is doing everything to try and clean his huge mess.
Front ending this contract is what is causing this BS. Rumour is that he's not on a lot for the rest of it and his management decided to try and do something about it. This is the time of year when the AFL media start to become mouthpieces for player managers. It's payback for all the stories they give them through the year, they are the "sources" that are never named.
