  • Getting stable footage on the BMPCC4K with no rig, no attachments, nothing...
In this video, I take on the challenge of getting stable footage on the BMPCC4K without using any rig or attachments. Many videographers have concerns about the BMPCC4K's lack of in-body stabilization, but I believe this camera can deliver great results even in its most compact form.
Join me as I capture B-roll clips around my friend's house using the BMPCC4K naked-no rig, no extra weight, just the camera itself.
In this video, you will learn:
    Addressing Stabilization Concerns:
Understand common concerns about the BMPCC4K’s lack of stabilization and why this shouldn't hold you back from using it in its compact form.
    Lens Stabilization vs. No Stabilization:
Watch side-by-side comparisons of footage shot with lens stabilization enabled and disabled.
See the differences between using a wide-angle lens and a tighter lens to achieve stable shots.
    Techniques for Stable Shots:
Learn my tips and techniques for getting stable footage with the BMPCC4K without any additional support.
Discover simple tricks to enhance stability when shooting handheld.
    Improving Stabilization in DaVinci Resolve:
Follow along as I demonstrate how to improve stabilization in post-production using DaVinci Resolve.
Learn step-by-step methods to smooth out shaky footage and achieve a more professional look.
By the end of this video, you'll see that the BMPCC4K can be a powerful tool for capturing stable, high-quality footage, even without a rig or other attachments. Whether you’re shooting B-roll or your next big project, you can confidently use this camera in its most minimal form.

Fantastic video. Do you think the rs3 mini could support this camera?

@alifnor personally I've never used this on a gimbal but I know it can be used with one. People say it's a bit tricky to balance so I'd assume you'd want some of the larger gimbals. I'm sure if you dig through some forums you'll find someone who's tried with the rs3 mini!

BMPCC 4K when shooting video to store gyroscopic data, which can be used in DAVINCI resolve in favor of stabilization with a much better result ;-)

Everything is possible but.....not worth the stress. I still love all my Black Magic Cams but since trying Panasonic stabilization, is really hard going back..even with the amazing BM image and color science.

Yeah I've heard such great things about the new lumix cameras. I'll likely get a gh5 or something like that one day to serve as a more portable b cam solution, and the stabilization will allow me to be super minimal. But for anyone with a pocket 4k I think the whole "can't use this thing without a rig" statement is a poor excuse not to go out and shoot haha

@@TOMMYBMP I've been using a BMPCC6k OG for years and I always made it work but having a lens with IS is a must for Black Magic. People just want easy work but it's better to learn the hard way and not rely on IBIS only until you learn proper movement techniques.
I would recommend a looking at used S5II or S5IIX. I recently got the S9, same sensor but smaller body with some caveats but it's just an amazing experience overall.
I do miss the Black Magic Menus...but as long as it's not a Sony menu...I'm Ok! 😅

I'd grab 2 lenses if I were you, get these 2 now and you'll be set for quite a while with what you plan to do. Get a 24-70 f2.8 and a 70-200 f2.8. With just these 2 zoom lenses you can essentially cover any focal length you'd ever need and f2.8 is low enough where you won't be reaching for a prime lens to deal with low light.
