Great tips & your voice & music were great!
The dot pattern looks really cool. Can’t wait to give it a try !
The best shading tutorial I have found. Thank you. I still only have that cheap burner that has the heat control knob on the wire that goes from yellow to red and the tips aren’t great. I have done a few pieces that family loves and really getting into it, hence trying to learn shading now. The “leaf” tip from my cheap kit sucks but using the techniques you gave will surely help
I just got myself a fancy shmancy wood burner like that instead of the cheap-o ones I was buying over and over. Shading is totally new to me! So thank you for this.
Jenn Hoff you’re welcome! Thank you!
Thank you for this. What a great way to get started for beginners. It helps in getting used to your burner. I will be doing this myself. Thanks!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Yes! I’m so glad it was helpful!
I am waiting for my new pyrography kit to arrive, what a great idea to make a 'Tonal Value Chart.' I can see what my first project will be when it arrives. Many thanks.
Very useful tutorial. Thank you.
Really helpful info. Thank you so much☺
Thanks for your tips! Never thought about that dot pattern. It looks great !
Thanks!
I’ve done the dot pattern technic and indeed, patience is the number one ingredient for it!!! But the final results are stunning.
Marcia Prieto I agree! It’s a beautiful technique.
Very helpful. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much for this.
You bet! :) Thanks for watching!
You’re handwriting is very nice and these videos are super helpful!
Thanks Emma! I'm so glad you like them! :)
thank you for the wood burning techniques;];];] im trying to get into wood burning myself i have a walnut hollow kit ..with most of their tips...being in maine we have just gotten 15 inches of snow yesterday !! snow banks are higher then a pick up cab;[;[;[;[ hard to pull out and streets are very narrow;[;[;[ ready for spring!!!!!!!! cant wait to see more of your videos;];];] thank you
Thank you Patty!
Bom Dia. Faça mais videos, pois eles são ótimos para quem ta aprendendo a arte...
Very useful video for beginners.
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. :)
I find that the round tip is fantastic for soft fur and beards
Nice
Great work
Thanks!
I need to order my dot tool. Good video :)
Thanks for watching!!
i have a pyrography pen and it has a temperature setting rather than heat 3-6, does anyone know what temperatures these are?
Also, I'm sure I need more practice, but burning straight lines was so much easier for me on the cheap ones with the straight-edge tip! Getting my lines perfectly straight without a straight edge is really hard. Do you have any helpful tips for that?
Jenn Hoff do you have a straight edge tip with your new burner?
@@Pyrocrafters So, not really.... I looked all over on Amazon and found the closest one to a "straight edge" that I could find. It's the Tekchic Wood Burning Kit for $168 on Amazon? It looked like the straightest edge I could find. But it's still more rounded than what I'm used to. The cheapy ones have an actual straight edges that make it easy to go perfectly straight rather than free-handing it.
Jenn Hoff sorry it took a bit to get back to you. I see what you mean. They dont offer a true straight tip in their package. Here’s a link to a Colwood. Scroll through to the tips and you’ll see what I mean by straight edge. It makes a huge difference when you’re burning straight lines. You still need to have a steady hand, but it helps tremendously to avoid having rough edges. etsy.me/2REexAe
@@Pyrocrafters- Ugh! I LOVE it! I wish I'd have found that one when I was searching! .....Maybe I can sand down my tips and return the one I got last month. I really really really want a straight tip like that!
What is your experience with burning on bamboo? I don't have a fancy woodburner like yours ( I'm envious), but trying to burn on bamboo (spoons) has proved to be difficult. I am not impressed with the results. Maybe I am doing something wrong? Maybe I need a better wood burner? Your insight would be greatly appreciated.
Hey Lisa! I've never burned on bamboo before, so I can't speak to it. Some woods, especially hard woods, are difficult to burn. Soft woods work better like pine, poplar, basswood, but if you had a burner that was able to get really hot, it may help. I've burned on Oak before, which is challenging to burn because it's so hard and it has a lot of moisture in it. But if I burn it at a high heat, it helps.
Do you know if there's a tool to make a really dark effect on rough wood? I've tried to wood burn fresh wood and it works but takes forever and never really gets as close to black as I'd like. It feels like the pyrography kit I have just doesn't get hot enough, even at 400C 🤨
I'm not sure if there's one that will specifically make darker marks. What type of wood is it? When I burn hard woods, it seems all that much hard to get a dark, dark burn. I've used a torch before and that helps. You can get on of those small torches, but if you're burning small details, it won't be helpful.
Burning fresh wood? Is that burning wood that is still green with all that moisture in it? If so I can see why it would be hard to get it dark enough, I've never tried burning green wood. Might have to let it dry out before burning.
@@truewrldseeker4004 Thank you, that makes sense - I know a bit more about wood now and feel a bit silly about this earlier question! Thank you for replying and confirming it.
where can I get the little sanding pad you used for your "oops"?
I get them at Hobby Lobby. I think it's the hobby lobby brand because I haven't been able to find them anywhere else. But you can get those sponge sanders at home depot, lowes or amazon. I use those a lot too. They are just easier to hold. Here's a link to one: amzn.to/3dIgHdD
What type of burner are you using?
Hey Leonard! I using a Colwood Super Pro II. You can find it here on my amazon page: www.amazon.com/shop/pyrocrafters
What kind of wood are you burning on?
Hey Samuel, this is poplar. Thanks for watching.
Where do you get your replacement tips?
I buy from the Colwood website. woodburning.com
I'm new to this, and my burner is actually digital and shows the temperature, what is the Temps on your burner?
I'm using my Colwood here and it has a dial of 0-10, so I'm not sure of the exact temps.
What type of wood is best?
I like basswood and poplar, but there are a lot of choices. Try my video about wood choice for more details.
Where did you get your wood burning pen ?

Where can I buy a pro burner
This is the burner I'm using right now: amzn.to/2Y0GdUb Thanks for watching!
Rules for choosing wood type?
ruclips.net/video/LpmrEOIOezs/видео.html Here's a good video on sourcing wood. :)
Your accent is divine. Where in England are you from?
I’m from Mississippi. ❤️🔥
What kind eraser you used
It's a little sanding pad from Hobby Lobby. You can find them in the wood craft section. Or you can use those sponge sanders, like this: amzn.to/3dIgHdD
Ooo...ok thank you...,,😁🙏,,one more,,to clean eks carbon..papper what kind eraser can be used..,,sory my englis not good😁
@@bakart_sabroe7964 Sand paper is the easiest. Erasers won't work on carbon. :)
Pyrocrafters thank u very much for the info😁
