For those of you that are watching this on your phone ..you can pinch the screen and zoom in on her lines and really get a good look…it helped me understand it better by getting a close up look. 👍🏻
Your video Is the only one out there that talks about the basics. A video I needed to begin doing wood burning. Thank you for posting one for all of us beginners to see and learn from
I did wood burning in my high school workshop class, and im just now getting back into the hobby 15 years later. So glad i came across your channel! Very clear demonstrations! Thank you so much for showing me new things i didn't even know about! Most definitely subscribing and will check out your classes 😊
Very helpful. Bought a low end wood burner tool. With the techniques you taught in this video I don't see the need to upgrade to an expensive tool for the small projects I am doing. Thank you for taking the time to make this informational video. 😁
Happy to help! If you hone your techniques, you can certainly do everything with a low end burner that you can with a high end burner! For me, the biggest difference was just the speed that I could work and the variety of specialty nibs. Glad you’re enjoying the videos!
You are a wonderful teacher! So clear - great simple explanations about why and how you do this craft -- and the demonstration with the materials is just perfect. Thank you!
I stumbled onto channel... Boy I am sure glad I did! I subscribed to your channel. I learned how not get blobs in you lines by using the swinging motion in making your lines. WoW! I am going to continue watching your channels until I learn everything I can on wood burning tips and techniques! THANK YOU FOR MAKING YOUR VIDEOS ACCESSIBLE FOR US STUDENTS PROFESSOR BURN SAVVY!
Your very welcome. I to have been an instructor. I want to become fully instructed in burning, not just for wood but leather as well. Leather has been my first love.
Thank you for this. I wanted to learn a new hobby to keep me busy over the winter, so I got a beginner's woodburning kit and didn't know where to start. Now I do! I have a lot of scrap wood leftover from other projects, so no shortage of practice surfaces here. Hopefully I'll be able to make something nice one day.
Have the equipment, a dual wire nib set up with full heat control, bass wood ordered, smoke extractor ordered. Yes I want to learn pyrography! your tips guide and this presentation is an absolute boon for me, your presentations are better than watching t.v.👍Thank you you so much for your efforts and presentaions. Kindest regards (Tony UK)
Hi Jannie, Great information. I get so many requests / questions about burning with solid point pen tips. I have zero experience with them, and zero desire to gain experience with them. :) With your permission, I'd like to put a link of this video on my website to help people find answers they need. I don't embed videos. Instead, the link would open RUclips, and you would get any and all views on your RUclips channel. Brenda
Haha! Totally understand that when the wire tools are so much faster and easier! Linking to this video from your site would be amazing. Thanks for sharing Brenda!
The Colwood Detailer is my favorite professional woodburning tool - gives you the best bang for your buck. Here’s a link where you can get it, and coupon code SAVVY gets you a discount 🤑 www.bearwood.com/savvy-professional-kit.html?aff=14
Yep. The basic woodburning tools are soldering irons. Just realize that rings are exceptionally hard to burn because they are small and a round surface. I hope it works out well for you!🙌
Yep. Different tips held at different angles will obviously get you different results, and some not very good results, but the same techniques apply pretty much across the board. 👍
Nope. It’s just a thin sheet of wood. Thankfully, plywood is not like particleboard that has glue all over it and through it. With thicker plywood, you’ve just got to be careful not to burn through all the layers if you want to avoid the glue.
Hi! Getting ready to start burning but the first thing I noticed is the fact the cord doesn't swivel! Did I purchase a too "beginner " tool or is this something I have to get used to? I have a walnuthollow versa tool ..thanks!
I don’t know of any burners where the cord swivels, but the versatool should have a heat dial that swivels on the cord. That’s the beginner tool I typically recommend so you should be good. 🔥🙌
@BurnSavvy thanks for such a quick reply! Unfortunately mine does not have a swivel at the heat selector so the cord does not swivel at all. Maybe I got an older model.
Oops! My reply didn't publish. I have 2 burners that I recommend depending on your needs. If you haven't tried it before and you're on a tight budget, get a cheap solid point with heat control: amzn.to/3rrfuAZ . It's harder to use but the easiest of the solid point burners. If you want something easier to use, faster at heating & cooling, I recommend a Colwood Detailer. www.bearwood.com/deluxe-kit-detailer.html . Use code SAVVY at checkout for a sweet 5% discount on your entire order over $20. Hope that helps!

Have you tried checking your junk mail or spam folders? Sometimes it ends up in there. If you find it in there, move it to your inbox and save the email address that came from in your contacts list so it doesn’t end up there again. Sometimes it can take a couple hours for the email to show up also.
Weird! If you send a reply to the confirmation email, that’s should give me the email address you’re using and I can see what’s going on on the backend.

Hello, do you have a video where you recommend and compare the best woodburning tools?
Not yet, but it’s on my list of videos to make this year
What is an inexpensive burner do you recommend and a professional one can you recommend ? Thank you.
The Colwood Detailer is my favorite professional woodburning tool - gives you the best bang for your buck. Here’s a link where you can get it, and coupon code SAVVY gets you a discount 🤑 www.bearwood.com/savvy-professional-kit.html?aff=14
I wish I saw this before I started something giant I was not prepared for as someone who has never wood burned 😂😅 thank you
Haha! Totally been there my friend 🔥🙌
Thank you!
You’re welcome!
Tq u so much 🥰 wonderful Explanation
Glad it was helpful!
Just starting to make wood rings and i want to put some runes on them and want to know if i can use a soldering iron for this??
Yep. The basic woodburning tools are soldering irons. Just realize that rings are exceptionally hard to burn because they are small and a round surface. I hope it works out well for you!🙌
Great video but I don't have the one that looks like the one you're using. Mine are the nibs. I use the same way I suppose?
Yep. Do the same with solid as you do with wire 🔥🙌
Do these same techniques get used with ANY wood burner and tip?
Yep. Different tips held at different angles will obviously get you different results, and some not very good results, but the same techniques apply pretty much across the board. 👍
Coool, thank you
Happy to help 🔥🙌

I get mine from Amazon. Here’s a link if that helps: amzn.to/4aQNYAF

I have letters and numbers. I can’t "pull" them! .??
Try shorter strokes
My name, Pairoj (Thai), is literally pronounced pyro so the start of this video made me panic a bit 😂.
Hahaha! This literally made me laugh out loud 😂
Reminds of airbrushing...
Huh. I can see that
Title should be "What I teach in all my other tutorial videos".
😂 yeah pretty much! Just boiled down to the ultra basics all in one spot
