    Just get lazy on the bike - why didn't I think of that? Just came back from a bike ride and it worked like a charm - by far the best advice anyone has ever given me. :)

    That chin position on the bike is similar to the swimming as well, your previous head position was like water polo swimming/sighting, and the new position is like slightly looking forward within that 45° range. Perfectly makes sense, as neutral as one can be..

    Love it! This is exactly what I needed and now I'm going to go play with my bike a little 😀

    Great info Taren. Just picked up my first Tri Bike from the Spokane WA Bike Swap (right by Coeur d'alene). Trek Speed Concept. Got it dialed in from you videos, and now I just binge watch your channel while I ride. Thank you for the inspiration and the motivation. HUGE FAN.

    Hey Taren!
    Just wanted to say thank you for all of this... I've been watching your chanel only couple weeks, but it's so cool, I don't even know how to say all of this, your content is just an awesome (and i really like your humor)... Your videos are really motivating, I love it... and also it's exciting to see you building up this trainac community.
    Good luck, we are watching you!
    P.s. Oh, almost forgot, I know you have many international viewers, but i don't know how many non-english native speakers do you have... I'm from Russia, just saying)))

    Thats a hell of a video!
    Could you make some video about flexibility and what exercises we can do to optimize our tt position

    Inspiring - thumbs up! Currently struggling to find a position that works for my timetrialling. Last fit was more aero but lost 20w power...... and I worked hard for those 20w haha.

      But the more aero might have been a 50 watt gain, so throwing it out in favor of you own power may be setting you back.

    @TRIATHLON TAREN: With regards to pillar 1 „the saddle coverage“, does this rule only apply to tri bikes (and not or little less for aero or street racers) because of the straighter hip angle of the frame? Thx 😍

    Did he have anything to say on limitations you have flexibility wise vs some of the pros/what most age groupers shouldn't do that pros do? Also anything on the distance between the aero bars?

    That shin position is what I try to do. One thing that I think you will feel trying to do that position for a long is a lot of looking into the floor. That’s fine by me, I can live with that, but tell me what you think and feel

    A video on how wide or narrow should our arm pads should be

      Best to get a bike fit from a local bike shop for that! It's going to be a bit different for everyone.

    Whats the cost to have that fitting?

    Serious comment - I have never been able to figure out how to achieve pillar 1 without crushing the crown jewels, despite trying different saddles.

      Have you had a proper bike fit from a professional?

  • @trbeyond

    Re: distance between chin and hand, I agree with this analysis but still it does not seem to be consistent with the position that some of the best triathlon cyclists (Kienle, Fordo) have with their straight bars. Clearly they are doing something right and have a very narrow position but they still have a larger gap between hand and chin. Thoughts?

    • @immerchriswell7924
      @immerchriswell7924 6 лет назад

      Tom Dumoulin, Chris Froome both have the upward bar structure. I know they're not triathletes, but two of the world's best TT guys, so it's probably all been worked out in a wind tunnel for each athlete at that level and determined optimal

    • @TriathlonTaren
      @TriathlonTaren  6 лет назад

      Those guys have a team of experts managing their bike fits, so those positions are going ot be set up to optimize their bodies I would imagine.

    good trick is to try get your nose to your wrists and smell it. Makes your head get in the right position automatically

    LOL! you are comparing a position in the studio to a real world ride. Apples and oranges.

    You don't need to be a pro fitter to know how bad your previous position was dude
