Once the Farscape taste was acquired, the thirst never could be quenched.
try "LEXX"
MAKE A REBOOT BUT DO RIGHT
GUARDIAN OF THE GALAXY IS A RIPP OFF
Claudia Black and the relationship with John Crichton are the best frelling* thing in the entire series . I Love'em ! Such an Inspiration :)
*best frelling thing* Fix that for you.
It kinda carried over to sg1 but in a different way!
@@jonathanvogt4341 Definitely :)
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY RIPP OFF FARSCAPE
My favorite part of peacekeeper wars was Crichton deploying the wormhole weapon only after getting Scorpius to say pretty pretty please with a cherry on top and then once Scorpius finally gets what he has wanted after 3 seasons on chasing Crichton he gets scared and begs Crichton to turn it off.
thatsrightjay Yeah! THAT WAS GREAAAAT!!!
thatsrightjay was the culmination of everything, done so perfectly 👌
This is your galaxy on wormholes. Any questions?
No, to me that part was a lame contrived moment. That he would just look at it’s destructive potential and that would be enough for him to change his years of perusing wormhole weapons because of that very potential. It would be like the Americans testing the nuclear bomb they had to developed and desired because of its destructive potential with the massive explosion and shockwave it makes, and then upon seeing it detonate in person the visual impact of it changes their minds on using it, even though they already knew what its effects would be. Of course Scorpio’s wouldn’t want the weapon to grow and grow and for it to destroy Peacekeeper ships so he would have wanted the ability to turn it off to be able to control its destructive reach but if he had that it totally goes against his character and logic to decide that the weapon shouldn’t exist.
@@briancline7349 The weapon could end the entire galaxy if not the universe. Its use was basically suicide. Crichton barely stopped it in time. One screw up and all life- including Scorpius himself- could end.
But they left out the answer to the most important question of all!!!
DID RIGEL GET TO BECOME DOMINAR AGAIN
They really need to make a series 100% focused on the rise of Rygel the XVI, claiming back his title of Dominar to over 600 billion subjects!
Yes he did...read the comics done by the creators
Comic was created for that
Eventually. Got overthrown again shortly after then finally reclaimed it
Yes; he became President of the United States.
I went into this video with my hackles prepared to be raised because I love the Peacekeeper Wars and I generally am supremely protective of Farscape (more people need to give it a proper chance; if puppets weird you out then your stomach isn't strong enough for alien scifi), but then in the first second you said "nope." Bless you.
100% same
before i watched this video, I read the comment to see if this was clickbait and yeah it was ... I was ready to unlease he black hole weapon on
Rowan J Coleman
Scorpius was my favorite in the show without a doubt and one of the best good, bad, indifferent characters in most any show ever.
Yea he was a very complex villain. Well written and very well acted . Alot of modern day movies make villains too simplistic and cliche. But in farscape, both friends ( Moia crewmates) and villains alike had shades of Grey, illustrating the complexities of cultural codes that people live by. Part of what made scorpius a great villain was that in a way he had a sense of honor in fighting for what he believed to be an existential threat despite an utter ruthlessness.
The john-scorpius alliance was interesting because of their polar opposite personalities and approaches.
I still remember watching the finale of series 4 with my dad and we were soooo pissed off 🤣 was up there with realising there was no more Firefly
Yea the ending of 4th ( good season overall imo) was very gimmicky and souring. But the writers redeemed themselves w PKW.
I'd just started watching it that season,I was mortified.Actauly felt like crying when I was told that was it,thank F for the peacekeeper wars
@@bobsyme3118 funny thing is we never got round to watching PKWs lol
@@ScotSteam47 Dude you should, it's free on RUclips. Its good,Finnish's the story
farscape forever... best show ever. admittedly i've watched at least a dozen of these videos and the title still triggered me lol
I'm still sad that they were never able to do the Nebari mind control plot arc.
They were such a different villain compared to the Peacekeepers and Scarrans. They spread their lobotomy virus across the galaxy. They could start taking over everyone without anyone even realizing it.
To me they were more scary than the Borg
Nebari were creepy as hell, it really does sound like something they'd do
Yeah Farscape should have spent more time on the interesting ongoing plots with less focus on the often used “monster of the week” or random attack on Moya action plots.
I would sign up to a Farscape film about that!
Randy Hos If they were to continue the series the Nebair homeworld would be the way to go for the next villain now that the Scarrans and Peackeepers are in peace..... for now.
You make a very good point of enjoying the Farscape that was instead of wanting a continuation or reboot. You only have to look at the mess a lot of other sci fi franchises are in at the moment, trying to recapture that magic they used to have. Great video.
A reboot implies the possibility of other actors in the main roles. There is no way you could find a better combination of Ben Browder and Claudia Black. Their chemistry was a centerpiece of the show. It was a product of its time and could not be replicated in today's story recycling environment.
A reboot generally implies the same cast - Roseanne/The Connors, Will and Grace, Star Trek:Picard, etc.
Oh my god the memories.
I haven't watched the show since it ended. I need to give it a watch again.
I binged it all for the first time recently, it still holds up.
It’s on prime and better than it ever was
I still want more. The Nebari conflict was not resolved. The comics are good but that feels like fan fiction.
The KKorre were a cool idea in the comics but agreed on the fanfic assessment from what I've read. Also ends on a cliffhanger (that's symmetry for you)
well they do have a comic canontinutation.
@ 89, including PK Wars.
Comics-Core doesn’t really end on a cliffhanger. Wraps up the storyline like Peacekeeper Wars did. Just had a couple loose ends like who sent Roiin.
@ No, if really wasn't. If still could've done alot more. Four seasons, isn't enough time for anything to get stale. There have been longer shows that have lasted over 8 years. Hell with things like Star Trek, Dr Who, Twilight Zone, and few others have decades of time in...and are still good.
In the middle of RE watching the entire series on DVD at the moment, love the program, great characters, good stories, a disfunctional family in space, what more could you want.
What do you mean "entire",they never made the crucial 5th series
@@jadekayak01 think it was wound up pretty well in peacekeeper wars, at least it got a conclusion of sorts, not like most that just disappear leaving you very pissed off..
The confrontation and reveal of the Wormhole Weapon at the end was one of the best, if not the best endings to any Science Fiction series. Caps off the entire series beautifully.
I maintain that it was Rygel's last comment that finally broke Staalik's resolve and made him agree to a peace settlement.
"If it is the largest black hole, then it's a death worthy of a Dominar!"
The most amazing special effect in the Peace Keeper Wars, Claudia Blacks hair. It's just amazing and as a long haired dude, I'm really jealous of it.
I'm so glad they lost her god awful season 4 wig in a bush fire somewhere.
Rigel saying " I'm nobodies puppet!" Always cracks me up
Farscape is continued in a comic series by the original writers, and they put in what they were planning for season 5 (the Nebari trying to get into power, which was hinted throughout the show).
sort of... it's non-canon, and if the show continues, they definitely won't beholden to that. it's not unlike stargate universe in that way, the comics are the best we've got for now, but if either ever continues, those will basically be disregarded
Ive read the first 2 comics and it really doesn't have the same feeling
The Nebari aren’t part of the comics. The focus is on a new race called the Kkore trying to take over the universe.
@@rafael607 How is it non-canon if its the original writers lol. Canon is literally whatever the writers (not the fans) say it is. Stargate Universe is also canon, until it's declared not to be.
@@Red1Green2Blue3 because the creator of farscape said so
Farscape will always have a special place in my heart.
No reboots, no "next generation " just leave Farscape alone. It's perfect as is.
...Did you read the post-PK war comic mini-series? Their 'star-child' becomes a chosen one messiah baby jesus.
@@xXevilsmilesXx Hmmm, that actually sounds pretty cool.
@@starbrand3726 I would've thought so too. But they did terrible. Baby jesus just uses his power to deus ex everything, it was a huge writing blackhole. Looking back after a decade or so later, I would've preferred the child of John and Aeryn not have any super powers, no 'chosen one' destiny or any other tropes in that vein. Just a basically normal peacekeeper/human hybrid with the benefit of being raised by 2 of the galaxy's biggest badasses, named after another badass, and a whole cast of pseudo god-parents looking atfer him like, 'what's you deal gonna be?' and big shoes to fill.
@@xXevilsmilesXx I wouldn't mind the kid having REASONABLE super powers. After all, this would have been the first alien /human hybrid. But to poorly write it as a Jesus baby who can do anything was ridiculous.
Absolutely! Leave it as it is!
I love Farscape, but I couldnt help feeling that some episodes were written while the writers were high on some good stuff.
The cartoon episode comes to mind.
The episode 'Crackers Don't Matter'.
And that's a problem?
I'm just in the process of rewatchibg the entire series on Amazon and had forgotten just how good it was. It really hasn't aged, the effects are still good and the Henson creatures and makeup is first rate. So glad your previous Farscaoe vid popped up my list and reminded me how good the show was
A full season forced into a mini series. So it was never going to be as good as it could be.
Man, I really do need to watch Farscape again. All in one go.
Full episodes are free to watch on Dailymotion at the moment 🙂
Loved farscape, don't sleep on lexx it was great and just kept getting better.
I loved it.
It felt like a good conclusion minus one thing of course 😢
The last 40 minutes of The Peacekeeper Wars is the best part of Sci-Fi ever!
I wouldn't mind a next generation series, with a grown Jothee and a young D'argo Crichton. I don't necessarily want it, but i wouldn't say no.
One of the things that I loved about Farscape was its subversion of classic SciFi tropes. The one that stands out to me is the classic “Transporter Accident: oops we made a duplicate”. You can see this in Star Trek TOS, and Next Generation and other places. Once the episode’s crisis has been resolved, the Duplicate is ALWAYS destroyed, or re-integrated, what have you. End result: no copies of the main character running around.
With Farscape, they took this classic trope and just ran with it. Two Chrichtons for episodes and episodes, with Aeryn Sun and one Chricton having an extended period of intimacy, before he finally dies, and then completely messing with the remaining Chricton’s relationship. Powerful and dramatic stuff.
As soon as they showed us 2 Johns I knew where their relationship was heading. When aryn returned to ship and basically brushed John off I died inside
And yet they still got rid of one and put the story back like it didnt exist lol, even had john in the end remembering things the other john remembered. I love farscape but its not this completely out of the box different version of sci fi people make out. It plays exactly the same.
Great video! it's always awesome to see Farscape content. Keep up the good work!
I liked Farscape as everything in it felt just that little off center, gave you a look at how Crichton felt in the universe, Peacekeeper Wars wasn't my favorite bit of the show as a whole but I still enjoyed it.
In past 10 years I started several times with episode 1 and 2 of Farscape. Although I am hard core SF lover, I could not get hold of it. This year, after one friend told me that story evolves as show goes I started to watch again.
And when I started I could not stop. This is so fantastic TV show that I simply got lost in universe with it. Farscape The Peacekeeper Wars is the grand finale this series deserved. Simply fantastic.
Crichton's final speech 'Wormhole weapons don't make peace. Wormhole weapons don't even make war." touched something deep inside of me that I'll always remember
The Farscape series ending cliffhanger is like what Dark Matter did. How the hell you cancel a show on a wtf cliffhanger
Farscape the Peacekeeper Wars was an awesome mini series to me, it tied up some of the cancelled TV show nicely. What would be cool for them to do is to make a miniseries now for each of the comic series that they had that took place after the Peacekeeper Wars. Because boom comic series of Farscape was fun and ended really nicely too and it'll be cool to see a few more mini series come out and tell those stories if they can ever get the actors back together. I was even thinking it would be awesome if they would even do a few anime style series to tell those stories using the same actors for their voices
I still feel like one more season would've been perfect to flesh out all these plot points and character arcs a lot better but, that's life. As one of those fans clambering for more after the cancellation I'm just grateful the story got a conclusion in the end.
Peacekeeper War was one of the single finest pieces of science fiction ever.
Nope
🤣
Enough said ❤️
And amazon has it all awww man sometimes times are good :)
The Peacekeeper Wars were an early and important example of the power of organized fandom.
I was apart of the campaign that got the miniseries made, I don’t think any other fandom will ever have a moment like the ending of Farscape season 4. We knew it was canceled and I knew before the ep aired that the writers and crew changed nothing to stick it to the network. I was apart of the one that Firefly copied to get Serenity made, and The Expanse to get it picked up by Amazon. I’m a proud geek who loved and supported these shows and got them continued. Also the continuation comics for FarScape are pretty good also.
Love the series, enjoyed the Peacekeeoer Wars too...
The best show for me.
Noticed from a binge, isn't the biggest plot hole the destruction of the Bird of Paradise plants: they could have shown/told of the Peacekeepers conducting hit and run attacks, winning some, but falling due to insurmountable numbers?
Addendum: Scorpius traded wormhole knowledge for its destruction!
Oh, I love Farscape and I wish there were more. I need more Firefly too.
Watched it on Amazon Prime, making total watch time to 4 for the whole series. And still going strong, characters just make amazing emotional moments that pay off and continuously grow and feels pains of failure and success. Miniseries was bit rushed but still very good ending to Farscape, considering devastation of season 4 ending.
Toni Heino ONLY 4? I’m at like 12.
Yea the S4 ending was very souring and gimmicky , but PKW redeemed it.
Farscape is one of the best SCIFI shows out there. So many shows replicated it. The Peacekeeper Wars was a great ending. Hope they bring this show back or at the very least give this show the proper respect it deserves.
You know Farscape never aired on Dutch television. We have Star Trek and all the other American SiFi series, of course, and I am particularly fond of DS9 and Voyager, but Farscape was a chance discovery. Took an immediate liking to it. Bought the DVD's of the series and mini-series. Still enjoy watching them from time to time.
I was led to believe that there were 6 seasons of Farscape when I started watching.... Binge watched the series over 2 months. Thinking there were 2 more seasons really allowed me to be completely blown away by the decisions and character deaths that occurred in the peacekeeper wars.
All right sir never seen your channel before but you have won yourself a new subscriber anyone who's willing to do videos on my beloved Farscape Battlestar Galactica and all of my beloved Stargate shows I've got to watch. Farscape is always been an amazing show with me. I became a fan after friend of mine kept prodding me to watch the show over and over so I finally got his video tapes and watch the show. It still had about a year to go on TV before it ended and I was blown away fell in love with it almost instantly
Actually, there is one plotline that never got explored that that should have been, that would be perfect for a reboot story is...Nebari Prime.
Chianas story was never fully fleshed out there.
I would have loved to see more Farscape, provided that it didn't take into consideration the comics which were published for a very short time after the mini-series. As it is, the series ended on a beautiful note, and it will always have a very special place in my heart. For me, Farscape was much more than just "some TV series." The series really affected me and the John/Aeryn relationship was the greatest love story ever shown on TV.
I think you should give the second season of Lexx a chance. It turns more into Star Trek, where they visit a new world every episode, and, despite being populated by humans, those worlds seem more alien than other shows that actually have aliens in them. Also, it's just very comedic.
THANK YOU!
I loved farscape, the miniseries was great as well. When scorpius seen the power of the wormhole creator it was one of the best scenes in the series. Its crazy how syfy lowkey has great series and dumps them after 3 or 4 seasons.
In my opinion some of the best sci-fi ever made
I'm glad the correct answer was given immediately.
I really need to get far scrap the peace keeper wars I've been missing to for years
I loved the relationship between crichton n Aeryn and completly loved to show from start to finish was pissed that d'argo got killed off but atleast he went down fighting
I will also add that I developed a major crush on both Claudia Black, and Raelee Hill when the show first aired...and I still have it for both of them, lol.
seeing this video advertised got me to finally get round to watching Farscape, finally got back round to watching the video. Fantastic show
THIS SHOW IS A MASTERPIECE IT NEED CONTINUE
GOOD WE ENED FARSCAPE BACK
Claudia Black will always be my perfect woman.....👍
Wonderful analysis as always. Having just rewatched the series, they did give it their all into this. Stories continued in the comics to feed my need for more Farscape, but as you say what makes Farscape great is the chemistry between all the actors and puppets. With D'Argo gone and Jon Hardy passing away, I don't think continuing Farscape would work. Could a reboot or other stories in the Uncharted Territories work? Maybe, but there was just such incredible acting, emotion, and story there that I don't know whether it could be reproduced. I'm glad that I got to watch it in my formative geeky years of late high school/early college. It will always hold a special place for me.
A story ahead of it´s time. The human sucks but must think and gather information in order to have peace. An monk anarchist plant. An great villain. And a couple that the female is not a victim. Such a great show.
The Sci-Fi version of the Dark Crystal: with dash of Star Trek + Buck Rodgers + Flash Gordon.
btw aside from the farscape comics that continued the story after PKW, don't forget that after farscape was cancelled, rockne o'bannon put out a short story that picked up the story many years later. obviously canonicity here is out the window, as it contradicts events in PKW, but as an elseworlds farscape story, it's still quite wonderful. i believe it originally came out in farscape the magazine but luckily it survives here and there online

Loved your video! Farscape is epic. I watched the videos as they came out on DVD way back, at the end of season 4 looked online to see when season 5 was coming and in finding out it had been cancelled....it was like losing a loved relative. The Savefarscape website was a godsend and they did so much to try draw attention to the abrupt end, thankfully henson got the money from investors and made the peacekeepers war, and apart from the tragans ( were they the terrible things with guns for eyes?) Loved the mini, once day it really should get a reboot, so long as the original cast come back!
One of the best series conclusions ever!
I ADORE Farscape and consider it one of the finest TV shows ever made, nevermind scifi. Yes, up there with stuff like Breaking Bad. As for sci-fi, only Babylon 5 comes close as a whole series.
Lexx is the other sci-fi show I love, but it is definitely something I can see not being for everyone (if general audiences found Farscape too weird... Lexx is so far beyond that level of bizarre craziness) but I love every season (and each one is almost a different show in tone/setting).
Myself, I was devastated by the cliffhanger of Farscape's original ending, and overjoyed we got Peacekeeper Wars even though it never felt as good as the series (the nature of it was just too rushed, IMO) but a 3-hour ending is a lot more than a LOT of other shows get, sci-fi or otherwise. I remember a friend in the US (who's since sadly passed away) very kindly mailed me an off-air recording of the broadcast as it wasn't shown for ages here in Australia. Such a lovely thing to do. :)
Speaking of Australia, I think Anthony Simcoe hit the nail on the head when he said that Farscape's uniqueness came from being a blend of US, UK and Australian cultural genre histories; had it not been made here by people of such varied backgrounds (David Kemper was IMO the real heart behind Farscape, more than Rockne) like Justin Monjo, Ricky Manning, Andrew Prowse, Tony TIlse, Naren Shankar, etc. the show would have been good but not so amazingly *different*.
Episodes like "Crackers Don't Matter" and "Won't Get Fooled Again" alongside the likes of "Different Destinations" and "Into The Lion's Den"... and then "Revenging Angel"? No other show is so successfully varied, IMO. Few can boast their most iconic moments being alternately outright hilarious and heart-wrenchingly tragic.
I tried the comics, but agree with those who say they feel like fan fiction. The novels are the same. They feel like "what ifs" but not "true" Farscape to me. I'm a big fan of "expanded universes" in sci-fi franchises (e.g. Star Wars) but for me, Farscape was the show and mini-series, and everything else is by people not involved with the show. The only fiction I consider "canon" in fact was the final short story Rockne O'Bannon wrote for the last issue of Farscape Magazine, which is a lovely bittersweet coda to the show; though it was written before PK Wars was a consideration, both fit if you squint and smile... :)
HAHAHA!!!! I subscribed right after the very beginning of the video. "Nope!" YES!
Loved Farscape, must get my dvds out again 👍
Chiana is still my favourite.
Me too but I didn't like her new eyes and Gigi seemed to have put on weight.
I found it to be suspenseful , added much further character development to certain roles and ended with most characters getting what they wanted, but with a truer understanding of life and death, and it left viewers with a good messege/warning for humanity.
Even though it might have seemed like a rushed ending, it offered adequate closure to a relatively open ended 4th season ( that in my opinion should have had a 5th season that was like the 1st, with more "alien of the week" episodes rather than the continual narratives about talon, wormholes, etc ( which were fine, but left me wanting a season of more individual stories )
Brilliant thanks for reminding me how epic this gem was have a sub
I would love a sequel series focusing on Baby Dargo. I would hope that they still keep the story weird and amazing with a new crew and new adventures.
Oh yeah the Peacekeeper Wars rocked. We got all the great SciFy stuff the movies should give; ship fights, blaster fights, destruction, surprises, and gallows humor. I am surprised at how few of these are out there, Serenity comes to mind. Even failed attempts like Wing Commander become cult classics, how many Dune remake will we see?
Great video about Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars. You're right, it didn't suck. I saw it on TV waaaaay back when it was new and enjoyed it. Oh as far as the Enterprise theme song goes. I watched that when it first started and the theme song threw me. All great SF shows I'm fond of have had wonderful "orchestral" theme songs. As soon as I heard Star Trek with "lyrics" in the song...I made a dire prediction the show wouldn't last long. Sadly, I was right...
Whatever else it may have been - and it was a LOT - Farscape was easily the best Sci-Fi romance of all time.
There was several great science fiction series running around this time but Farscape was the best
actually the 1-st season of Lexx is the most normal one, 2 and 3 would be the oddest haha, but it`s subjective
Yeah I've heard they have like magic and shit later on or something?
@@RowanJColeman kinda haha. It`s rather chaotic and psychedelic. Definitely not "I just watched a new episode, I`m gonna tell you what it is about" kind of series🙃
yeah, but 2 and 3 are much slicker as well, the presentation gets streamlined, the characters get more fleshed out, and the plot gets more engaging. if you made it through the 1st season, the rest is easy enough to jump in and experience
Would love to see another mini series to wrap up loose plot threads focusing on the Nebari conflict and connecting in the person who sent Roiin.
It'd be awesome if they would revisit the same timeline they left off from after Peacekeeper Wars. Pick up after the fallout of the dominating powers collapse, catch back up on remaining characters, etc. It would be awesome, even as another miniseries/movie, kinda like getting caught up with an old friend.
I read a short story exploring the future of the Farscape characters by either Rockne or David and D'Argo was ALIVE! I guess if they could bring back Aeryn...
I watched Farscape when I was 16 and I always wandered if it was as good as I remembered. After binging all 4 seasons & PK Wars, it's a masterpiece. It has it's clunker filler episodes but if you like a space opera that has a compelling story and a beginning & end you will love Farscape
great series indeed
Goddammit I love me some Farscape
I enjoyed this a lot. Farscape was an underrated series (as we all know) and this at was a good send off. The blackhole cannon was worth it alone. God rest Dargo
And I want a continuation! Next generation or whatever it's called, just bring it here already.🙌
Farscape was weird, sexy and the oddest thing I had ever seen and I loved it.
We can all enjoy Farscape along with pizza...and margarita shooters.
I have watched this series so many times. I own the movie now im working on aquiring the series. I still love this series. I was always thinking zan would be coming back. I just loved her
I want to see Dargo Sun Crichton grown.
I own all 4 seasons on DVD, and the Peacekeeper Wars, and recently finished rewatching the whole thing. Damn, what a great show!
I have a hard time choosing between Farscape, the X-Files, or Babylon 5 as to what my favorite show is, but it is in the top three, regardless. I honestly hope it doesn't get a reboot, it's perfect as it is.
Farscape is my favorite Sci-fi show and I love stargate Galactica and Expanse also firefly but man Farscape has that weirdness to it and originality that other shows cannot reach
I wonder if Rigel got his throne back... Wonder if Chiana found her brother... Does little D'Argo Crighton live longer as a half breed? Does heat affect him? Did Scorpious keep in touch with John... Id watch a reboot
Just the theme tune to Farscape makes me happy.
1st. It is a space western like star wars or firefly;
2nd. The series was continued in the comics.
That’s the thing about cult classics. Lexi is one some people love the wackiness of the show. That’s the risk of not everyone will fucks with it but I for one love the weirdness. Also the outtakes are hilarious.
I can tell the summer is moving towards fall/winter which means nothing but darkness and rain here in Seattle. I think that means its time to watch the entire series again start to finish non-stop for the 5th time. No one looks better in a pair of leather pants than Ben Browder...except perhaps for Claudia Black. And while I am at it, I might as well watch anything Stargate as well. By then, Star Trek: Picard should air and I can totally escape the brutal, dark, alien world called a Seattle Winter.
Preach it brother!
