Man, you guys are so lucky to be able to get used ones. I literally had to learn how to make the jackets, lol. Buying some goatskin and sheep nappa over the weekend to enlarge my collection. I'm up to 1 sheepskin racer, 1 goatskin double rider (perfecto) and 1 goat suede double rider. Looking into making a belstaff trialmaster panther based on a safari jacket pattern I managed to get my hands on. I'll have to add the zipper and change the collar, but it should work out.
I personally prefer the single hide jackets. the muti hide ones arent my favorite in the color dept. historical accuracy wise those are spot on though. looks good

Fivestar or Avi leathers are way cheaper and good quality to boot for 1/3 of the price. I’ve had real McCoy D-1 and Eastman B-6 as well as 2 Eastman A-2s. Great jackets for sure but so pricey. I’m sure the B-3s are good too from Avi and Fivestar for people looking for a cheaper good quality alternative. Aero is up there with Eastman but again very high price in comparison.
You are exactly my size, I would recommend the size 44, the jacket has belts so you can make it a better fit if it looks larger around the waist, you can see I let my belly grow a little bit 🫢,

Part of what makes a shearling jacket really warm and functional as something that protects you from the harsh realities of winter is having really excellent hand-warming pockets. While the jacket may keep the torso, neck and arms very warm, it missed the mark with just having that singular, outside, thin leather pocket, in my opinion. All of my shearlings, from the one I bought nearly 20 years ago to the three I just bought within the last two years, have excellent warmer-than-wearing-gloves inner hand-warming pockets. If your hands are in pain due to the bitter cold because the pockets are subpar, then the jacket is absolutely worthless to me. It looks like that jacket would be good for the late fall (maybe) and late winter headed into the spring but I couldn’t trust it to take care of me in the dead of winter when shearling jackets and coats outshine other winter outerwear. I must say that I do love the big thick collar to protect the neck. Good video, though! Good luck with the jacket and wear it in good health!
You are totally missing the point of what this jacket is…..a like for like authentic reproduction of an original USAAF B-3 jacket. The original didn’t have hand warmer pockets…just the single map pocket. Pockets on this jacket ruin its authentic quality….It’s buying a Ferrari and having a toe bar on it or a bike rack….useful but ruining the “look”. Perhaps that was the worst example of a comparison written this decade but I guess you can appreciate where I’m coming from lol. In terms of warmth….pockets or no pockets….these things will roast you unless it’s -40c! I have had 2 examples of this jacket from Eastman and I can confess to the absolute quality, construction, authenticity and of course the look/style of these stunning jackets….you will not be disappointed!

What I am saying is my hands are very important for the kind of work that I do and I personally need a shearling that has deep warm pockets. What’s most important is that he is reunited with that leather treasure!
Not having pockets isn't an oversight or a minus, Eastman doesn't include them because none of the American flight jackets of WWII had them, the higher ups didn't want hand warmer pockets because they didn't want their personnel looking like truckers standing around with their hands in their pockets. Eastman makes among the best reproduction jackets around, they reproduced the Crown zipper, the threads used to sew it together, sourced the sheepskin pelts, and even use the same stains and tanning methods for their jackets, that's the authenticity they're going for. That's why people are willing to pay over $1,700 for them, their exact copies of the ones from WWII. If you want a B3 with hand warmer pockets there are a couple of companies that make excellent B3 jackets with them, The Cockpit, and Scott, both from NY, I've owned B3s from both of them and their awesome.

Hi again, It’s hard to tell, because I think the 46 might have the sleeves a little longer, maybe you can let them know your arm length and how long you want it, I’m sure they will do it how you want it, But your Irvin Sheepskin Jacket looks nice on you, maybe you can measure that one and let them know the measurements..😉

Thank you so much, Well your questions are very good, Somethings I would factor in, such as your age and your height and weight; because with me I had a size 40, many years ago and I had to sell it as it fit me snug; now I wouldn’t be able to fit in that size, I am 6ft tall and my waist is around 32 inches, I don’t plan to grow anymore, If you decide to go up a size, you can always wear clothes underneath such as a sweater, and you can tighten the belt straps on the waist, and you can move around in it, the leather should get more softer as you wear it, if you get it too tight, I don’t know if you can maneuver in it as good, I hope this helps,

That’s the b3 for 1099 on eastmen site you can get it in russet trim or all seal brown the Weber contract jacket is made different has no logos on strap drab green zip Tape and slightly shorter collar straps and main difference is higher back seam on the back the Weber version is the higher one and the Weber coast more cause it is a original maker jacket I just ordered one and will do a review soon on it

Hi, It depends on your body size too, I’m around 6 feet tall and about 180lbs, my belly got a little big but that I can shrink down.. So I got a 44
I’m around 5’9 170 pounds my chest size is 44 tho you think I should get size 44 or go up to size 46 wanted jacket to go past my waist a little bit
