    Uploading this here because it was a pain in the ass for me to find. Idk why but it took so much searching that the result was spoiled to me before I got to watch it. So I extracted the first to 10 from Ludwig's channel and posted it here but I recommend you watch it there instead as the quality is better.

    Truly an unbelievable event idea and historic moment. Genuinely didn't even care who won cause I was so enthralled by both Cody and Zain's play. Two absolute legends who are true competitors. I mean... 15,000 slippi matches against each other!!!? Pushing each other to their limits and beyond. Thank you for this amazing spectacle and for inspiring countless current and future melee players to keep on pushing the limits of what we believe to be possible in this game.

    The lasers after the break were genius. Cody getting “Marth’d” for multiple games in a row could only mean he was running into cheese and needs to force Marth to come to him. Simply reintroducing the fact that fox can rack up percent without needing to approach sets an entirely new tone for the games.

      People just take every opportunity they can to hate on or discredit Cody because someone "cringe" playing fox being #1? It can't be! But nah Cody's an amazing player and his fox is sick. A one minute time break in an hour long set is nothing.

      I always root for Zain over him ever since Cody started being able to consistently take sets but honestly I needed Cody to win because it just didn't sit right with me if he was considered 2 when he had the better results. Even though Zain was easily number 1 before big house I thought it was kinda clear Cody slightly had the better year after that he did better at the two biggest supermajors and I'm pretty sure they both had 4 major wins. Especially when he still attended and won tournaments with top players after Big House that could easily beat him. Like I'm glad this match happened once in a lifetime kinda thing and it was super hype but also those tournaments woulda just been majors albeit smaller ones if Zain went to them...

    ok i'd like to see somthing like this happen every year not necessarily the best player of the year but some sort of big match with some prestigious stakes on the line (perhaps if we really could have our dreams made mango vs armada competing for goat title sure mango would win with more practice but it would be more fun and if you really wanted you could also make it a 4 person tournament with hbox and ken)

    I wonder what the set would have been like without the timeout tbh, to me the first to 10 should have just been a straight through gauntlet

    • @dh3913
      @dh3913 5 месяцев назад +2

      Honestly I'm of the opposite mindset, I think players way too often keep starting the next game asap when they're tilted and taking a minute (it's just a minute, barely a timeout and should def be allowed) to reflect and try to adjust your gameplan is much more interesting. Why would I want to see someone tilted just keep running in and losing? Nothing interesting about that to me.

      @@dh3913I think a timeout is fine here, except Cody did it after a Zain win and it may have stifled his momentum.

    • @dh3913
      @dh3913 4 месяца назад +2

      @@chicha400 Maybe slightly, but I don't think 1 minute is nearly enough time to kill the momentum of a player like Zain. He was still playing well afterwards, it's just Cody was playing better too. And tbh I wish Zain also took a minute before the last game to reflect on what he needs to improve, maybe could've gone to game 19, who knows.

      @@dh3913 Cody deserved the win for sure, and seeing him crowned after working so goddamn hard and having such a rough time of it IRL outside of melee was actually just brilliant. Yes, it wouldn’t surprise me if Zain pulled something similar to that nutty Armada Leffen 4 stock on fountain after meditating in place for 5 minutes. Can’t wait to see who comes out on top at the end of another year of melee😁

      They agreed to do the set. Both zain and the commentators knew that zain could also take a break if he wanted to. Zain choosing not to take his time out doesn’t mean we should flame cody for taking his. If zain didn’t think it was okay for Cody to take one he would have spoken up about it.

    • @zjmullan
      @zjmullan  6 месяцев назад +5

      @@itzmasterz that's absolutely the other side of the coin. For me, the point of contention isn't the timeout itself but how he used it since cody didn't just take a break but called his gf for gameplan advice. The question is how much zain knew about the mid-set coaching and was he ok with it
