Same, but would be quite impossible. It takes too long to make a single animated short as long as just 10mins. If you search on youtube "Le gouffre" it a beautiful animated short that is just around 10 mins took a team of 3people, 2 years to complete.
So Based on this, Love Death Robots consist a lot more high quality animations and 3d + 2d visuals. Doing something similar will require many, many teams of people, truckload of time and money.
Meaning these things will probably only happen once in a very long while :(
(i'm an animation student so im aware of the tedious process in details though you can just google the animation pipelin for general overview)

Little fun fact : Hanks (octopus) from finding dory was so complex it took the entire production team 2 years to animated just ONE scene finding dory took almost 13 years before its released after finding nemo because... well its tedious as f*ck.

It still took them years. 2 years for ONE scene is crazy dont you think

During the 80's I worked for prerecorded video distributor and we watched hundreds of trailers for films we were to sell to our retail customers. After watching the trailer for Millers Crossing I remarked it was best trailer I’d seen to date. The CBS Fox studio rep comment that indeed it was entered into an industry award for best trailer. Never heard it mentioned again.

The biggest problem of this seris is the fact thers 5 or 6 "good" episodes, and all the remaining episodes are "meh" or pure shit.
if thats the case then its sad the trailer is such a wrack of badly composed blinking, noisy but yet crappy music, and zero info/visual aid which leads to what it actually is.

Fun fact: the short called "Three Robots" is actually based on a book called "Robots vs Fairies". The book is basically shorts stories about fairies and robots. The short story the episode is base on is called "Three Robots Experience Objects Left Behind From The Era Of Humans For The First Time" I didn't realize this. I literally got the book before high school for secret Santa and just one day I scroll though it until I realize the story sounds familiar

Every episode is based on a short story. I really can't tell though what kind of story would "Live Hutch" and "Fish Night" be based on since there's barely any dialogue and naration.

They publish the short stories in LD&R anthologies, and for the original stories they publish the scripts. Tim Miller says (Corridor Crew - VFX Artists React to Bad & Great CGi 91) that the original authors get 100% of the royalties from the anthologies.

Then again Spiderverse was quite Diverse animation wise as well, It really does feel like we are entering a new golden age for animation both 2D wise and 3D wise and that gets me really excited.

You pay Netflix for a reason, because it has so many amazing series! Not only the Netflix series own productions are great, some Netflix movies are also great! This series is very addictive "Love Death + Robots! A bummer that each episode only last up to 10 - 15 minutes! This is so cool and realistic animated, each unique episode! As my last fact if you have Netflix & Amazon Prime like me, you don't need anymore other streaming platforms, because those 2 are the best in my opinions!

@Caligula6 Shoshon true,, same here I watched also all the episode from season 1 in one day! 10-15,16 minutes a episode isn't as long as 40-60 minutes an episode which one does usually watch, when watching any kind of series,! Heard season 2 of "Love, Death +Robots will be out some time in 2019! Really good episodes, each unique on its own! The rating of 18 makes sense, since this series is for an adult audience and definitely not for kids, a lot of violence and sex is almost the main theme in each episode!
This is worth this months and next months subscription, period. I still have other stuff to still watch...Netflix fookin rules!

Animated anthologies in general are a great idea. Use them as a testing ground for new show ideas. If the audience is there, make it a proper series.

they used to be pretty popular back in the 90s with liquid television and kablam but I really think they need a comeback for the digital age. MTV tried bringing back Liquid TV for a few episodes but that went nowhere

The Secret War had me questioning the line between reality and animation constantly. Some of the shots in the valley with the frozen lakes and whatnot were absolutely beautiful. I’m not sure if that was CGI or actual footage with superimposed characters, but it does without a doubt have the best animation overall imo.
You know when you watch a great movie and you have that one scene that's totally epic and stays in your head? That is the best way I can explain each episode in this series, it's amazing.

If you're a fan of animated anthology stuff, give "Genius Party" (+ Beyond) a shot. It's hit or miss but well worth the time overall~

Brutal and very sexual. But honestly at the same time so very deep and full of meaning. Brilliant. Just absolutely brilliant. I think the best episode was Beyond the Aquila Rift. Animated masterpiece. Looks so freaking real I couldn`t believe it.

So many times I doubted myself if it was real or cgi because of Ice Age being the only live action episode so I thought maybe this one was too but damn did they do good here.
Achallon True! Aquila rift was unbelievable! I had to look so closely and google it before I believed it was cgi. I don’t know how something unreal can look so real and I’ve never ever seen anything like it.
Leia H I honestly think the budget for that episode as short as it was, was probably massively expensive because that is some of the most impressive cgi I’ve seen and to only see it here and now with it being so short? Hard to believe it’s not crazy high maintenance. Man, imagine if they make full length movies out of this... Feel like the acting industry would take a transition to voice acting lol
Actually the best cgi was in Ice Age, I genuinely couldn't tell the difference. That being said I too think Beyond the Aquila Rift was the best episode.

Well it takes a lot for me to be blown away. The animation and the story’s have done just that. I would gladly watch full length films from these talented people. Absolutely fantastic stuff

Binged it all two days ago. WOW!! Just when you think you have seen everything and there is nothing new ever, this comes along! Each episode is a small masterpiece that leaves you wanting for more. Best content I have seen in a looong time.

yooka333 I sincerely doubt that. I guarantee I have seen more movies than you and you probably haven’t seen The Rider, Prospect, Burning, Cold War, etc. from 2018 alone. You know, the critically acclaimed movies no one goes out to see. Of course there’s also If Beale Street Could Talk, Blindspotting, and so on. You have not proven anything about having a great knowledge of storytelling or film making and probably don’t even know how much of the budget for a film or TV show goes into post-production in order to be successful.

Message to Netflix : The animation of this show is superb! The story of each episode has a potential to become independent movies almost all the episodes are quite interesting. I can't believe I just found this out recently but I'm also glad it already has 3 seasons so I don't have to wait that long.
