Crippling self doubt crew unite.
I’m not even finished with it but I just love your videos. Any other tuber would have split this into six different videos all while saying absolutely nothing of importance except “something something tones.” Everything you say I’m nodding in agreement and find myself thinking the same things.
Always look forward to your videos. I’m going to finish the rest now.
Who do you have in mind? Lol we know!! For some film photography is a tones game, for others it's raw photography!! Keep it real!!
It's actually stupid how good this video is. You are the youtube film king in my eyes
I'm amazed at how cinematic you've made this experience for the rest of us, enjoyed the ride.
Hot damnnn this video is so good. The search for the “perfect” photo is almost like something from a fairytale. You get called to action by a passing thought and end up on a journey, proof that romance is still alive and well. Glad you found the shot, it turned out great, Logan!
Thanks so much, Steven!
It both excites me and fills me with envy to see another blossoming film photographer / filmmaker such as yourself gaining traction. I applaud you man. Really excellent work. And congratulations on getting the shot!
Thanks, Cody! Just found your channel and my goodness do I love your videos. Going to have to clear the rest of my day and binge through the whole thing.
I got this video reccomended on my youtube page. I fell in love with your style. Both photos and cinematography. This was a 23 minutes of pure visual pleasure. Thank you!
Thanks, Milosz!!!
@@loganguybaker Btw. my favourite was at 9:20 :D
You’ve inspired me to get off my arse and finish my own Southwest project
I'm 2 minutes in and can already tell this is going to be the best film photography video on RUclips
This is a devastatingly great video. Been getting kind of burnt out on film photo content, and this has just rejuvenated my soul and excitement for it. Great work.
It was interesting to hear you say you got "lucky" with the lighting conditions in South Dakota. After months of determination but seeing no success, you were still able to feel lucky when your persistence finally paid off. Something about that just feels so human.
Your eye for cinematography is inspiring, I can tell it must be more than a RUclips career for you. I love your videos man, you post when you want but please don't stop posting period.
Hey mate, this came up on my recommended feed… and damn, I’ve never had anything resonate so hard with me. My constant self-doubt creeps its way into every photo project I start, basically leading to complete self-sabotage and a bunch of half-cooked projects/ideas which live on external drives and never see the light of day.
I literally have a very similar story to yours… My wife has been asking me to frame a large photo for an empty wall in our house - 3 years have now passed and I’m still no closer to capturing that elusive “perfect” image lol. At this point, I've built it up so much in my head I honestly don't think anything I capture will ever be good enough in my eyes.
Watching this made me super aware of my own process, and I think where you talk about “forming the picture in your head before you see your subject” sums it up so well. I'm guessing this is where I tend to go wrong also haha...
Anyway, thanks for the amazing vid and keep up the great work.
Best, Jeremy
literally the best film photography RUclips videos
I will never upvote anything when it's on 420, so I'm leaving a comment to say - glad you got your photo. These channels are inspiring me to try medium format again. Just got a digital fuji hoping it would kill the desire for 120. I spent some time working outdoors in that area and yeah the storms scared the bejeezus out of me a few times thinking a tornado was coming, like green skies, hail, spinning clouds close to the ground n shit. I love the badlands.
Imagine the time and effort it took to create this masterpiece. Please make more videos!!! This one deserves millions views and a million subscribers. Also, someone should hire you in a. movie production maybe a director of photography or a cinematographer. Kudos to you sir!!
Perfect should be taking out fo the dictionary. There is no solid description for perfection. What is perfect to one is not perfect to another. Love this video, first time coming across your page. Keep up the great work. The background in your video where you talk is so relaxing 😌 love from Ireland 🇮🇪
this is awesome and the photos are beautiful thank you!
Beautiful shots
This video was such an immersive journey, and the music made it feel so fun. Love how carefully crafted this is. It also reminds me how Nick Carver would also spend months trying to get a single shot he likes. Congrats on finally getting that print!
Thank you! Now onto the framing process (here goes another six months)
More than a few great ones in here!
Epic journey man!
really nice work mate
Great video, Logan. Cracking stuff man.
What a story! And your photos! Wow amazing job man!
Been waiting for your videos for a long time, was definitely worth it
I really resonate with so much of this. Also incredible shots and great video!!
Good to see another video man!
Your videos tell a great story, are really well made and edited and not only that, you actually make good images too! You could be the most popular photography channel on here (if you'd only post some videos now and then 😉).
Beautiful images, lovely soundtrack.
Damn that was really enjoyable to watch (I’m still searching for that one shot to frame!) The composition of both the photos and the video itself were so good - the effort you put into these is inspiring!
one of the best videos I've seen in a while. Can relate to almost every thought. Looking forward to more such amazing videos!
Been missing your videos man, huge inspiration for starting my channel. Loved this video and glad you found the one shot in the end. In agreement with perfectionism & self doubt affecting the work, but again good to see the progress you've made in spite of all that. All the best with Patreon!
Thank you for taking us on this journey I enjoyed every minute. The video is definitely worth watching multiple times....so many beautiful places and pictures. I look forward to the upcoming videos. Greetings from Germany ✌🏼
Finally he's back! Love the final print too, it was worth the wait 😄
jo, just came across your account because this video was suggested to me...watched the entire video literally just because of the funny cut into the talking section after the intro sequence hahaha
really cool video btw!! looking forward to seeing more from you!
Dude, I love your video and photo work. Everything is amazing, from the composition, to the color and sound editing. Also, these long format videos are my favorite to watch. Keep up the amazing work!
Thanks, Nuno!!
Just started making videos like these and honestly the walk back to the camera sequence at the end spoke to me lol. Awesome vid man! Final image was amazing
Bro easy sub! Video was amazing! Same with the pictures, only makes me want to go out and shoot more!
Surfing for Xpan content and stumbled into your head with this and prior Xpan specific video. Lovely bloody content Logan, truly enjoyable to watch and beautifully curated. Looking forwards to future fail-achievement from you! Cheers ~ Peter
Another film photographer from Houston! Nice work man! I’m in Denver now and trying to get my 4x5 kit going so I can make the most of these landscapes
Well this pretty damn epic to watch with a cuppa. Amazing work Logan, beautiful shots everywhere 👌👏
Instantly subscribed!

Loved this. RUclips and Patreon subscriber based on this video, can't wait to see more.
Thanks so much for the support, Chris!!
I wish there were more videos like this on RUclips. Your channel is ridiculously underrated. People really don’t understand how much effort goes into making a video like this and I appreciate all that you put into it. Keep doing your thing Logan!🤘
I can't even tell if I like the photos or video more. Everything here is just top notch. I'm just blown away and don't even know how to process what I just watched.
Almost half hour of content?... thanks... thank you so much Logan!
damn this video is crazy good man! keep up the good work mate!
Congrats on the great photo, but also the freelance! Looking forward to more Logan :)
Found you via a shoutout from Brae Hunziker. I can totally relate to the pursuit of the perfect shot and the realisation that it just doesn’t exist. This video is so good. Straight into my top 5 youtubers!
Love the story and especially those shots from the XPan 😍. Also I'm one step closer to getting the X100V now.
Do ittttt
Hey Logan enjoyed the video and looking forward more awesome content.
Logan I gotta say you have no need to hold onto that perfection imperfection bug that's somehow managed to hitched a ride in your head. This is one of the most refreshing videos I've seen in the last six months. It's filled with superlative photos, many of which, any one of us would be happy to have hanging on our walls. Not to mention a class act as far as the quality of the video goes, but this I suspect is not what you want to hear, because that perfection bug has dug its claws into your hide. So hear this, there is a great story that unfolded right before my eyes as I watched this video, one that took time to craft and edit into shape, a story that has yet to be completed, and for this - I thank you. Also, your continued journey along this epic photographic ride is one I want to follow, so hats off to you sir, I wish you well in this endevour, and look forward to the next installment that's coming down the road.
Wow, thanks so much for this, Clarhett! Your support means the world!
Badlands are so underrated, all your photos turned out so nice from there! Something about that shot at 12:39 though, just feels like American Summer in one frame. Hope we don't have to wait 6 months for the next one, but even if we do, I know it'll be worth it!
Badlands is definitely one of the more underrated parks. I have a feeling it will blow up in popularity sometime in the near future. Thanks for the kind words!
Amazing photographs and a great video, I had to show it to my partner immediately after watching it. Do you have prints/posters for sale?
damn why didn't i knew u sooner lmaoooo this video js a whole mood
Your videos are so so good. And your pacing... mm MM.
Regarding looking for the perfect image as pre-visualized in my mind's eye: that's something that has driven me to create mediocre photos as well. This could be because I wait for people to leave the scene-because I told myself there wouldn't be people in my photograph-only to realize later the photograph needed some dang people. Or, like you, as I'm 'killing time' during any hour but the golden hour, I pass up shot after shot because it wasn't "why I was here."
In fact, most of the shots I've made to date that I've been completely excited about come from me being enamored with a place because it's new. Maybe not first time new, but new weather, new trail, new time of day, new outlook. Honestly, it's anything OTHER THAN a pre-visualized image. Then, like your time in South Dakota, you just keep finding awe and turning that into a photo, because it motivated the photo. It is perhaps a more genuine impulse for making a photo? That I'm not sure about.
A wonderful video. RS. Canada
Thanks man! I really enjoyed myself.
I understand the frustration of picking what to print. I haven't done a single print yet... I should probably get to it 😅
Get to it!
visual pleasure 👑
Fantastic, as always.
Thanks, boo
One of the finnest photography yt channels. Can you tell what equip do you use for video? Shoutout from Brazil
Wonderful videos, inspiring! I am glad that I found this channel and its talented creator. Come to St. Petersburg - the city in inhospitable Russia where I live. This is a strange city, largely artificial and ambiguous even for me. It will be an unusual adventure for you, just like for any person.
This is so damn good.
Great great content! This channel will become something big.
Keep it up - it's just a matter of time, until the YT algorithm starts boosting you.
Great video! Love your work and I just signed up to be a Patreon! Did you ever find out what was wrong with your Pentax 645 and / or get it fixed?
Thanks so much, Nathan! Yes I got it working thanks to Jesse Joseph (check out his channel). I had to re-adjust the shutter inside, take the batteries out, put new ones in, then hit a small button on the bottom of the camera to reset it. Works like a charm now!
ok... how do I put this? Maybe I should start with... F**K YEAH DUDE... I definitely enjoyed every second of this video. It was so well crafted and I loved the style 100% . 😍😍😍
also glad to see the Pentax started working again!
Thanks dude!!! The Pentax has been revived!
So much fun! And I’m glad it is alive. The Mam7 says hi btw 😆
Imagine trying to find something printable with only the uk accessible for the last 18 months 😂. Your work is exceptional sir ✌🏻
Hello.
Thanks to happy video.
What is the music at 18:00 ??
What’s the song at 6:50? It’s a banger!
damn this video is fire.....
53 years, still looking for that one shot... 😬
f**k, that was good.
You only have 4K subs …. WTF I’m going to cry man 😂 wtf the quality is … wtf
i would print 18:51
hey
hey
My man you have “just right” OCD, a lot of your stuff is great but to you it’s not “just right”
