What a super cute little house. As you said an awesome experience for 1 time. Those crowds at the end of the night were unbelievable. Ive never seen anything like that ever before. It certainly would be an unforgettable way to celebrate a new years eve, especially with those fireworks 🎉
I go to Comicon every year, obviously not in 2020 but that's beside the point, and the lines and crowds sound very much like the ones you experienced. For the life of me I will never understand why people allow the stress to cause them to fight like that when it's only going to make things worse. I get that crowds are irritating and you can feel claustrophobic if you can't move fast, but fighting won't help! You are a champ for getting through all that!

My husband and I talk about doing Disney for Christmas one year. We know it will be crazy so we are waiting until our daughter is older. I cannot imagine New Year's Eve there!

Wow! I’m loving that you are doing this. I can’t tell you how much I’m enjoying this. It’s like story time when I was a kid but even better. . My first time ever at WDW was 1983-84. New Year’s Eve. It was our honeymoon. I was actually only 17 almost 18. Yes we are stilled happily married. It was so different then. Not crowded at all. We stayed off site. There were only two hotels and we couldn’t afford to stay there back then. I remember it was extremely cold and we kept going on small world to stay warm. They past out hats that year. We also went on New Year’s Eve 1998-1999. It was crowded but nothing like it it is now well pre pandemic. They did not pass out hats or anything that year. I can’t believe how brave you were to attempt to get food in those crowds. I could not do that. Glad people understood it wasn’t your fault. I’ve been Fourth of July with big crowds and it’s scary so now I try to avoid holidays but they sure are fun. I can’t wait to here each days story. Thanks for doing this and hope you have a happy healthy new year.
It’s amazing to think how different things were at Disney 30 years ago. The transformation of crowds and how busy it has become through the years is crazy to see. 😊 And I am very grateful for the understanding of other people. The night would have gone very differently had they not, but it all worked out. ❤️ And made for a story I will never forget 😂
I knew I never wanted to battle those New Year's crowds, but that just solidified it!😆 Tonight will probably look way different. Maybe one day I'll go and watch it all from the safety of the California Grill!

We had a similar meeting. My family and I were setting on the curb on Main St waiting for the fireworks. I looked to my left and found us setting next to our next door neighbors. Neither of us had any idea we were going to be at Disney World.
We have done NYE at Magic Kingdom twice. It was amazing! Even with the intense crowds, we had a blast. The first time, we had a 3yo and 7yo. They were troopers! We got there at 7:30am and left when the park closed at 2am! With the huge crowds and crazy busses, we didn't get back to Pop Century until after 4am! Next time, the kids were 7 and 11. Again, we were there all day. We know that we won't ride much on those days and do what we can. I just enjoyed the experience of the magic of NYE at Disney and the amazing fireworks! Last year, we were on the Disney Wonder for NYE and it was the most amazing night! Disney knows how to celebrate!
WOW! what an incredible day for you both! We went to MK for Thanksgiving day one year and we will NEVER do that again either because the crowds were CRAZY. Like you said packed in like sardines! Because of only 35 percent capacity this year, I wonder what the MK will be like tonight for New Year's Eve??? We were at MK and HS on Dec. 21 and 22 and we felt like the parks were at 50 percent capacity on those days not 35 percent capacity. We still had an amazing time! Glad we were able to go!!!
FYI: Don't ever go to MK on NYE lol!!! :-) We've done NYE 4 times at WDW and always walked into Epcot about 6pm to watch Illuminations, then went directly to DHS and walked in. We had a blast every time there with Fantasmic!, Indy Stunt Spectacular, food, and beverages, and fireworks. Your story is great and really makes we happy we always avoided MK. Thanks for sharing. @@HereWithTheEars we didn't even stay in HS the entire day, we left for dinner around 5pm at TRex (awful choice it was insane) and then Hungout at our resort (SoG) until right before midnight, watched the MK fireworks from the poly beach
Just watched this view a few days ago, and at the end of it, I thought to myself...what are the odds of you running into the step-sister of your childhood friend? Its just so incredible. But, get this. Everything that you went through before hand contributed to that meeting taking place. Had you not lost all your food (and your drink), you would not have gone back for more food later on, and sat there watching the crowd move out, etc. Sure, you may have still decided to talk to Contemporary, but chances are, it would not have been at the same time...so everything you went through steered you towards that chance meeting. Freaky! :)
Oh yeah, people really “stop being polite and start getting real”, real world style, When it comes to getting a fireworks spot at MK. I probably would have just stopped walking mid parking lot at the end of the night at Epcot and just ugly cried.

The short version: we did it because we can work from anywhere and wanted to help people with Disney planning, we paid for all of it, we actually lost weight 😄
