I kind of love the one couch, two chairs look for the living room! There's already so much symmetry and I feel like some asymmetry really balances it out. It also makes a ton sense to have armchairs like it is now since it doesn't block access to that door.
Exactly what I was thinking! 😉
My exact thought! It's already a smallish space and if she brings in another similar sized couch it would block the entry way. By having two small chars with similar looks to the temporary ones, it'll make the space look more open!
100% agree
Chairs 100%. And didn’t Mama get 2 thrifted chairs with little wheels for this living-room like forever ago? 😍
Agreed!
It also makes the door to the porch feel more accessible, I think, which makes it feel more flowy. Absolutely love the look with the two chairs on that side!
The trim looks so much better than just floating shelves
Definitely
I agree!!!
Oh of course. Agree!!!
The attention to detail😮 she’s soo talented
i was so hoping she would change her mind 😂
When you said “I was so nervous because I’ve never done it before” referring to the lime wash I was thinking “girl, look around you. You pretty much built your own house by yourself without ever having done it before, paint on a small patch of wall isn’t gonna take you down” 😂
Great job as always MaCenna!
Stunning ❤
Hahahahha 😂 you’re totally right!
hahaha my thoughts exactly!!
MaCenna, you have made the living room so beautiful! I think 2 chairs across from the sofa (like you have now) looks great! I can tell you like symmetry but I think adding another sofa will make it too matchy-matchy. Adding the 2 chairs still gives the room balance and makes it more interesting. I am so very impressed with all you’ve taught yourself and the love and hard work you’ve put into your home! You are a joy to watch!
Honestly haven’t been more excited for a video!!! ❤ You are too good Macenna ✨
AHHHH i miss you!!!
Aw. I love this DIY community!
So beautiful… we missed seeing you over the Thanksgiving holiday. Glad you had time to enjoy with your family. The room is looking soooo good!🌸💕🌸
I started watching Macenna after meeting her on Lone Fox where you referenced some of her projects. Nice to see your friendship.
🤎🤎🤎
I am a 75 year old grandma and love decorating but most of all watching the progress you have made in your home. You are so talented and I just love watching your videos. Love Ya
69 here and I am so inspired by Macenna.
@@saraw8503 I am also 69, and I love watching what this girl is doing! So talented,
OBSESSED with how the limewash turned out omg ❤
Oh MaCenna, if a house could smile she’d be beaming from ear to ear. You’ve brought life to the old girl. 😊
What a lovely comment 😍
Thank you so much!!!!
MaCenna, I love how supportive Romeo is. He was so cute when he was telling you how good you’ve gotten at crown molding. Looks beautiful. 🙏🏻💜
Been waiting on RUclips, starring at random stuff just waiting for this video to go live 😂❤️ You're doing incredibly well MaCenna!
thank you so much!!!
Saaaaaame
I’m a teacher so I got the notification at school that MaCenna uploaded and was like YAAAS can’t wait to go home!
Same... I used the time to look up cake decorating vids lol
LOL I did the same thing ........I had to stop watching and then I over decorated my house for Christmas while waiting. LOL - I stepped back after the episode >.< took some down. No pressure though, don't tire yourself out! ....... This is good TV!
the way that you are able to ✨transform✨ these rooms is incredible to watch!! that limewash color was the perfect touch too!
Totally, not a buyest opinion at all. Right RUclips?
@@thedummkopf3701 excellent work spelling "biased" there pal
@@brittsvids Child out girl, it's just a comment. The fact that you have a parasocial relationship doesn't concern me.
Dang even RUclips commented on MaCennas video 👏🏼
I've never seen RUclips comment!!!
Whoever suggested painting the fireplace black was a genius. What a difference!
I wish once in a while you'd make an hour-ish video. 30mins-ish feels so quick to go by when it comes from you. Well done on everything, MaCenna.
Edited: Now that I've watched the video, it did feel a big rush to put so many things in such a short duration. I know you have a strict timeline in what you do and are a perfectionist (as I am myself). I love that about you. Your work ethic is epic! Please try to slow down and enjoy the process more. Nevertheless, the results are unquestionably amazing and will always be, every single time. We're all proud of you. You will never ever bore your audiences with your personality, skills, brilliant ideas and so on. It's the details that matter, right? Please don't take this the wrong way, and thank you so much for sharing with us. You're a complete joy to our days and nights.
I was thinking the same, hour ones would be so much better.
Agree 👍🏻
I was just thinking exactly the same! There is so much happening. 🤩
Oh yes. I don't want to put any additional pressure on you MaCenna, do whatever works for you! But I would definitely enjoy it if the videos were longer (and that does not mean more DIY needs to happen! I imagine there's a lot of content you edit out or that would be relatively easy to film, that many of us would actually enjoy, like a timelapse of that second set of shelves would've been a great addition!)
But I think audiences can come across as demanding, and I just want to say I'm super thankful for all the content we get exactly as it is!
I totally agree!!
Can't bloody wait for vlogmas !!! To decide on the couch, take a picture of the living room without the chairs, flip your couch where you want to maybe put a second one, take another picture and photoshop them together !!
But i gotta say, i love the airiness of the chairs compared to another, boxier couch
Great idea.
Brilliant!!
👏 great idea!!
I wonder if any of the family members of the previous owner have watched these videos. I'm sure it would make their hearts happy to see the amount of love and detail you have poured into each and every room.
Okay, first I want to agree with every encouraging and positive comment. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this series. It is so inspiring. And I want to add one teensy weensy suggestion. My husband is a finish carpenter and we sat and watched the reveal together, hitting pause and discussing. Maybe paint the crown at the top of the cabinets to match the crown above the walls. That way the cabinets look straight at the top rather than strangely curved. You have Grey Mist crown above the fireplace so I actually think it would look more complete that way. It is a little bit choppy now. So sorry to be that person nitpicking while you bust your hump. My only defense is that I'm a former copyeditor. 😉😆You and Romeo are awesome. Can't wait to see the big finish.
I agree! It’s the first thing I noticed, as well. I think it looks awkward to have that color break in the continuity of the crown molding.
I came here to say the same thing. It’s the only thing that’s wrong to me. Otherwise it all looks great!
What is really amazing to me, is that when I was MaCenna’s age, I was so humble when renovators came to my home. They had amazing skills that really impressed me. And they did work in ways that were a mystery to me. And it was always men. And here is MaCenna, a self taught young woman knocking it out of the park every time…..
I’m younger than MaCenna, but it is so inspiring to watch her. I hope someday I have her skills.
@A I'm much older, and I'm truly amazed at how much she's done on her own and with the help of Romeo.
Gotta admit, got kinda teary watching this space come together at long last. I can only imagine how you must be feeling, accomplishing such a huge project to such a high standard. Congratulations on the excellent choices, too!
MaCenna you really make my heart skip a beat when you’re drilling and doing painting and wood work on top of your beautifully treated wood floors without a cover over them. Hope the floors don’t get damaged!
Perfect decision to change the floating shelves. This home is definately a labor of your knowledge and love.
I love that trick to turn the floating shelves into more of a built-in look!
2:47 and there’s what makes her so amazing! I would have never had the idea to thicken those shelves, and when she showed the difference, it became so obvious to me. Looks so much nicer!
I agree and it would be such a cute idea for her Mom to do a tiny painting of Kinsley to,add to the bookshelf!
I vote for one sofa and two chairs. I know you planned to put these chairs in your bedroom, but I really like them where they are now!!
Excited to see the living room with the new rug and coffee table, too!
Absolutely love how it turned out! Would a diy removable rolling bookshelf ladder be something you would incorporate into your home? The shelves just reminded me of a like cozy Victorian library nook sort of vibe and just thought it would be a fitting touch🤎
I NEED NEW ADJECTIVES!!!!!! Stunning, beautiful, gorgeous, incredible… just not cutting it anymore! I’m just shocked with the eye for design that you have! I mean it’s crazy! ITS PERFECT! 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏👏👏👏👏
I'm so glad you went for the built-in look, your living room is way too classy for the floating shelves look ^^ Love it!
Couch, couch and 2 poofs! It adds more seating and a his and hers laying down option for movie watching and you have enough room to add a chair and side table in one of the corners
I'm obsessed with the fireplace wall and built-ins. I mean, wow!!! YOU DID THAT!!!! I'm constantly amazed by you.
I HAVE NO WORDS HOW STUNNING THIS ROOM IS...... I'm truly speechless. You have such an eye for interior design never mind your creative skills in making all the built ins, fireplace, etc etc. What an inspiration. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏PS where do you get the energy??????? You are a super woman 😁
Couch + two chairs look more interesting interior wise! But do whatever works best for how you're going to use the space. Personally I love those chairs there. The whole living room is just gorgeous!!!
I'm so proud of you and your creativity. I love you courage. You and Romeo have restored my faith in men and women working together. My husband and I restored my mom's home and almost divorced every day. I'm 74 and really enjoy your channels
I have been watching the renovations since I was pregnant and my son is almost 2 years old!!! I can’t believe how amazing everything looks! I’m emotionally invested and feel like your casa is my casa 🥲🤍✨
Absolutely gorgeous! The lights are like adding the perfect pair of earrings to an outfit.
The progress tho 🤯 To construct the shelves, cabinets, paint, lime wash, cut and install the crown molding in such a short time…that would take me MONTHS, if not a full year, to do lol. And that doesn’t even factor in the time to learn how to do all the things and buy all the supplies. Everything is so beautiful!! 😍
MaCenna, girl just pat yourself on the back three times, the work you and Romeo have put into your home is mind-boggling to watch. What a great job you two have done so far....simply beautiful🤗
This space looks incredible!
The trim around the floating shelves made a world of a difference! I would’ve never thought to do something like that.
It’s crazy how a detail like that can change the entire room.
From the preview we have had, I just know this episode is going to be insane! So excited for you guys to have your first Christmas at the cottage 🎄
Most people would put one chandelier in the center of the room. The placement of the chandeliers elevates the design. Dang you're good!
I love the look of 2 couches across from each other when the fireplace is the focal point. You will know what’s best for you.
MaCenna!! This is so beautiful i never want this series to be over but im also so excited for the end results!
It is so beatyfull I had tears in my eyes. You came so far. I just love everything of it. And the limewash, its just perfekt. Be proud at what you created, your home is like a pice of art. Greetings from Germany.
My jaw DROPPED with the before and after! Absolutely stunning.
first of all my jaw DROPPED when you showed the final reveal of your pretty progress!!! OH MY GODDDD its gorgeous! As for the furniture, I think having a little asymmetry with the couch and two chairs gives just enough contrast to show how perfectly symmetrical everything is, while still giving visual interest :)
Omg this episode made me realize how much work you do!!! It's absolutely incredible... And I'm so happy to see every idea come to life!! I'm here since the beggining and I remember every sketch. Seeing those sketchs now being a real thing in the cottage is amazing!!
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE!!! So excited 🫶🏼
This comment comes to you even before I watch the video. You are like my mid morning coffee date. The excitement I have to see your journey speaks volumes about the commendable work you do and the endearing personality you have.
I love the bookshelves! The second couch with the poof stools is what I envision for that space for sure!
Hi, I don’t know if you’re going to feel it’s too late for this but actually what’s perfect in my opinion for your mantle and the look you’re going for is to wax the whole thing with clear wax and then do some black wax on the areas you want to have that little darker, aged look. Now this is for people who like redo furniture, and to give it that vintage look. You put the clear wax which also seals and protects the wood, then you use the dark wax the black on there and brush it on a little bit. Then you wipe it off and by doing the clear wax underneath it makes it easy to remove any amount of the black you don’t want there are a lot of furniture artists/ furniture flipping channels that can help you with this, but like the best, but one of the very best is Kacha. I hope you check this out because seriously it’s easier than what you’re trying to do with the pan and it’s exactly going to get you the look you’re looking for I believe honestly. I really hope this helps. Good luck. 🌹
I was going to suggest applying a wax to it too to give it an aged look. So much easier than using a pen.
I agree, the wax method would save so much time and effort, and give a great vintage effect. Definitely the way to go.
Oh my gosh! I remember last year thinking you would be celebrating Christmas at the cottage! I remember the 2 guest houses were going to be built in the back while you celebrated in the cottage! It’s crazy how long renovations really take! But honestly, it was worth the wait! The cottage is turning out absolutely gorgeous and you really are a Jill of ALL trades!! 😍 Girl Power! 💥 💃🏻 Amazing work, MaCenna! (And Romeo, too!) 🥰
I was waiting for this video with pain inside 😂 Yesterday night I said to my husband that you haven't posted for a while and I was worried that sometimes would have happened and I was right (in some sort of way). LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE GIRL!! You are sssooo talented and such an inspiration for all of us especially when you share your feelings about your first times! Thanks Macenna! We love you a lot!
Awww thank you so much!!! I now this episode took a while to come together!
I love your style and I love your energy...also your mom , dog , and boyfriend are great! I am a furniture painter/refinisher and although the method you used to age the fireplace worked great, I think I have an easier way. Rub clear wax over the areas you want to age,( keeps the dark wax from staining the surface) followed by dark or black wax (apply liberally) then wipe off with a cloth. Any flat areas that you want to not look aged use a cloth with clear wax, this acts like an eraser. This method is fast and effective and probably less tedious than the stain pen. Excited for the living room finale. Thanks for the great content!
It’s crazy impressive how much work you’ve done almost by yourself. And it’s all so beautiful 😍
I actually cried watching this. I'm just so happy for you and Romeo. You guys are the bomb and deserve to have a beautiful living room for Christmas. God bless you both!
I like the couch blocking the fireplace, because when you sit down you can enjoy the television and fireplace 😊❤
I got like, emotional with the before and afters 🥺I've been watching since you bought the house and This is just incredible to see how far you've come, looks so amazing!! 💞
I’ve been “impatiently” awaiting Part3 of your living room makeover …then told myself “the poor girl needs to give thanks as well”.
I’m obsessed with the look of your room thus far. Can’t wait to see how you finish with the details and your seasonal decor. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and we’re all looking forward to Vlogmas!
It looks freaking incredible and I literally couldn't see it until you bought it to life in front of me, like it's looks so good and I never would have thought of this!
2 couches and 2 chairs and leave the brick red, looks beautiful. Btw, your skills are off the chart! Looking amazing! 👏 👏 👏 👏
Something about fireplaces make me so emotional! You're doing such a beautiful job and I just have so much happiness for you as you put all this work in week after week. The process and results are just so so beautiful!
You are an inspiration to us all! I’m so glad I’ve been able to watch your progress ❤
awww thank you so much!
I am so stinking excited! We get 25 days of vlogs!! The worst part of your videos is looking forward to them and then, they are over so fast 😢. You are amazing and I’m in awe of your talent!
Definitely 2 couches and poofs! With this home's future use of family gatherings, you will totally want to big compfy couches and pools for games and extra seating! Also am I the only one stoked for 25 days of XOMacenna?!
Perfect timing! Just put my 2 month old to sleep and now I get to enjoy new video in peace. I'm opsessed with what you've done so far with the house, just wow! I admire you so much. Sending love from Serbia!
I can’t believe how much you got done in this episode! It looks beautiful ❤
You’ve definitely improved your DIY skills with this beautiful home!! The attention to detail truly shows how motivated you are in making this home uniquely yours and I can’t wait to see how everything turns out in the end!! 💕💕❤
Thank you so much!!!
I love this livingroom layout! Having chairs by those doors rather than a couch would give a better flow
I love the chairs in the living room! I think adding another couch might make it too cluttered.. is the hearth going to stay that color or are you still deciding? I love watching your amazing progress MaCenna! xoxox ❤️
Loving it! I worked on new homes for a while and we always painted the crown molding before putting it up. Then just touch up the nail holes. It was much easier than painting it after it went up. Just a tip to reduce ladder time LOL. You inspire me to do things I've never done before.
Big rug and absolutely another couch with 2 poufs would look stunning in the space. Well done girl 🙌👏
So wise to encase the floating shelves and create a more compatible built in bookcase with timeless appeal. Can’t imagine the final appraisal on all you’ve done to make this cottage come alive! Love it❤
I can't explain HOW excited I am to see you decorate those shelves and see that Frame TV up on the wall!! It's really going to complete the room! (Heads up, Frame TVs are super duper discounted if anyone needed/wanted one)
Stunning end look. Can't wait to see with the trim on the windows and around the door. Have a great week.
Oh, it is coming along gorgeously. Cannot wait until the final episode of the living room!! As always, we’ll done Macenna!!!!
I admire how much vision, drive, willingness to learn and energy you have to tackle all of the renovations for this home! Everything you do looks lovely week after week, there’s just so much warmth and charm ❤
The limewash looks absolutely incredible!! I wasn’t sure about adding it to the range hood in the kitchen but I am all for it now, it looks so bomb. Glad you stuck to your gut feeling and made the floating shelves into built-ins, it is a much better match to the vibe of the living room. So so proud of you chicky
Cannot express how excited I get when a new video comes out….. never been so interested to see someone’s home being renovated! I’m in awe of you Macenna! X
Honestly? I think the chairs that you have for your bedroom fit perfectly in your living room - LOVE that layout :)❤
I think having couch+double chairs is so beautiful, having 2 couches might be really matchy matchy
I can’t believe the living room is coming together! Looks so freaking good
The video i needed to start this week 😍😍😍 Macenna's sweater with the sheeps, I can't help it 😍😍😍😍😍 So cute 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I know it is adorable.
Yes couch couch two poufs!!!! Would be fantastic
You and Drew (Lone Fox) are my heroes! I just moved to a 1970's build with cedar wood plank and beam ceilings, and I am doing a bit of work to make it my style, and so by watching your videos I am inspired and learn so much.
Eating chocolate cake watching MaCenna's videos IS the best way to end the day here in France !! Such a beautiful house so so so amazed by all the work you put out huge admiration!
Eating chocolate cake in France - you've officially made me jealous 😂 hope you enjoy every moment of it.
Seeing this intro , made me think , you should definitely put up a photo somewhere or just have a photo of your home before all the pretty things - just to look back at how far you’ve come - I know the videos can do the same , but it’s just something about an actual photo to hold onto ! I wish I did that before I started making over our home 😭 but anyways your home is coming out so good ! I’ve been waiting for this video to upload !!! 🙌🏻🥰
She could make a whole photo album with before and after photos, room by room. A great way to show people how much work she has done to transform the house from what it was to how it is once finished.
Handy tip for the DIY lime wash - you can get long mixer and bottle brush drill bits, and then use your power drill as a hand mixer to combine fluids and powders way faster than mixing by hand
I love how everything is coming along!!! Also, I think society (me) would greatly benefit from a vlog from kinsley’s pov
And you did it once again! You make a space feel so magical and unique. I can’t wait until it’s “completely” finished. Thank you also for all the work and quality content you put out. ❤
Thank you so much!! ❤
Very happy to hear you are doing vlogmas! My granddaughter watched one of your vlogs with me, shes 8.. and at Thanksgiving shes like, grma, I just watched Romeo's birthday vlog! Appreciate that you are showing the next generation that anyone can do whatever they set their minds to do and I promised her mom you keep things very PG❣ Appreciate that also!
One sofa, 2 chairs. What a beautiful living room! I love the chandeliers. The curtains tho... knotted like that...just makes me think of getting one's living room ready for the carpet cleaners to arrive. ;)
Definitely couch and two chairs for the living room! A second couch would really narrow the walking space to the side door. The chairs allow for movement in lots of directions instead of creating a “hall” like a couch would.
As always, such an incredible job!
Been waiting for these moments ever since you announced your offer for the house was accepted! Ca. 2 years later (i think) and it was all worth it, you are so amazing, through out the entire project! Showing how women can be creative AND handy too 💪🏼 amazing! 🥰
Beautiful! The symmetry of the light fixtures and the bookcases will look great with another couch to keep it cohesive
Honestly… I love the red brick now that you have that wall finished:)
My shock at 15:26 when you open a can of black paint over the beautiful brick!! 🫣 Final result looks great!
You're so talented. I love how you created this. Girl power!! We can do it all. 💪
I have never been interested in subscribing to notifications until now (on any channel - ever) months into being obsessed with your home renovation. Love your work and love that you made it through all that insane floors/walls/everything far too real phase to finally arrive to the “pretty” phase. Truly inspiring!
I’m so happy you changed them from floating shelves for the built in look! Looks way better in your space!!!!
I’m literally blown away at how you do everything and tie it together!!! I might just copy all your ideas and colors for my future home!
WOW! The living room is breathtaking. I can't believe how good it looks!
Seeing this room come to life has been epic - it's crazy how much height those bookshelves add to the wall and you continue to blow me away with how professionally done everything looks! Can't wait to see it all decorated!
