"Martha....That's it. Martha. Step by step, inch by inch...". Pure comedic genius.

Hahahaha! One of Lucy's classic. I love it! "SLOOOOOOWLY I TURN."

"Slowly I turn" is actually a very old routine that was performed by many different comedians. There are lots of variations of it.

MrVidaeverdade This is even better than the Three Stooges version

Actually it originated with Abbot and Costello and the 3 stooges

He got a squirt of Niagara Falls. I SO LOVE LUCY!! PUN INTENDED. AS WELL AS THE "SLOWLY I TURN" BIT. NO MATTER WHO DOES IT THE OUTCOME IS BEYOND HYSTERICAL!! EVEN I used to do this to my Dad and others.

It was a very shortened version, but she got the classic movement with the knee in hand.

One of the classic burlesque skits courtesy of Mr Joey Faye, r.i.p., And Lucy does a nice tribute here (Phil Silvers is one of my all-time favourites, though,, I want born to have seen him left, live. This is humour which 'sticks to one's ribs', so to speak; it's very filling, and hysterical - artery-clogging,'pee in one's pants', as it were.

The origins of the infamous Batman V. Superman scene, I suppose.

I think Lucy's character was the inspiration for Ruth Buzzi's "Gladys Ormphby" character. Priceless!

For this to work, you need a few key ingredients. 1. A funny name to reference when they go off like that. 2. An appropriate costume to give life to the plot. 3. Good timing and pacing.

No one is clear as to who originated the sketch. Many attribute it to Joey Faye, but it may have been around before. It was a very popular Vaudeville routine.

This is ten times funnier than when Lucy was the one with the kind face. I seen Phil Silvers in Summer Stock with Judy Garland & Gene Kelly, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Form and Lucky Me with Doris Day & Robert Cummings.
