    Thank you for this video. My husband wanted to fix the bat problem himself. After watching your video my husband said "maybe we should leave it to the experts". I'm so relieved he won't be climbing on the roof and exposing himself to the guano. This wife in NH can't thank you enough!

    I hired bat exclusion guys. I saw them go up to the soffits and start messing around. I did not see any bat exclusion tubes sticking out when they were done after about 4 hours. I was told they installed the tubes in such a a way that the tubes would be left inside the soffits. This didn't make much sense to me, but they have been doing bat removal and only bat removal for over 20 years. I think I had large brown bats. Greetings from Minnesota.

    Are in the process of bat exclusion. They are in the soffit. They entered where the soffit was cut too short against the chimney and also rotten fatsia against the chimney. There is also a gap in a valley in top of roof by my master bath. I could hear them over my commode area . Worst job we have ever had. W e used screen and a bunch of plastic also a plastic cup with the bottom cut out to block the bats. But they can fly out. We have waited til possible pups were old enough to fly out. We watch every night when they come out, so we no longer see any come out so we will call someone to come out with a tall ladder to repair the areas.

    Cool video! I have an exterior corner condition. Meaning the corner is protruding, not an internal corner like what you showed here, where my bats are coming in and out.
    Does the back valve work on an exterior corner?

    So helpful!! I wonder: we have seen bat scat on our back porch (maybe 6 per incident) almost every day. Does this mean that bats are definitely roosting INSIDE the house, too, or might they just be eating the bugs at the back door?

    What prevents them from entering through the tube? Are they just hot able to figure it out or physically can't climb through it? Doesn't appear to be a closing one way valve or anything inside.

      The way that bats enter a structure is they have to land against the surface, and crawl in, the design of the bat valve does not allow them access that way anymore. They can leave but they can not crawl out on the tube to gain access

    • @peterjennen99
      @peterjennen99 Месяц назад +1

      I've been wondering that too. I think it is because they have nothing to hold onto. When they stop flying I think they need a broad, flat, surface to land and hold onto. Since there is no surface around the end of the tube, they just fall away from the opening.

    We found the entry point. The mesh ridge vent was cut too short and it left a big hole in the slit. The issue is that this is a horizontal surface. I havent seen anything that addresses this as far as an exclusion. We're in NH and just started to hear activity so i assume they are out of hibernation

      I have not used the Amazon cone. Post a link and I will give my feedback off of design. As for installing a bat habitat, I advise against it. When the bat box can no longer house the resident population, the bats will look for the next roosting location, and that could end up being your home.

    It takes patience, annual attic inspection, and observations at dusk when they exit the house. I had multiple entry points which included the trim around my gables and one end of the ridge vent. They're very tenacious creatures and will try to reenter. If your house is in the woods surrounded by fields and trees, then you must inspect every year to determine if they've found another entrance point. WARNING: if you hire a bat "specialist", make certain they know what they're doing, otherwise it's money wasted.

    • @HuntsmanWildlifeLLC
      @HuntsmanWildlifeLLC  3 года назад

      If they are just hanging on the outside of a home, it may not be much of a concern. Make sure to leave outside lights off in not in use to deter insect accumulations around the home. Bats will occasionally decide it takes too much effort to go back to their roost so they will find a safe spot to spend the day. If it is an ongoing issue, you may want to call a professional to determine if there is an entry point you are not seeing. Good Luck.

    My brother recently bought his first home...a 2-story historic house (which he's restoring), with a wood burning fireplace. The fireplace hasn't been functional for many years, and is considered condemned (bricks have caved in from the inside and the damper is broken)...it has been capped, in the past, but it is not known when it was done, or how well it's capped/or if it has moved at all (especially during recent storms). My brother temporarily stuffed about 6 inches of insulation on top of the broken damper and some of the bricks that have caved in, after he had a fireplace repair company come look at it (next year, an electric insert will have to go in). When the fireplace company came, my brother and the company didn't see anything in the chimney (back in late March)...and for 5 months (since February), there was no evidence of bats in the house. Several days ago, we noticed loud bat sounds coming from the opening of the fireplace (it feels like they are close to your face, when listen, inside)...we strongly believe that they are close to the insulation that my brother stuffed over the damper, and possibly sitting on top of it. We've tried the ultrasound repeller box (for days), but had no success. We don't believe they have ever left the chimney, since they came down 5 days ago...they off and on make sounds (even during the day). My first question is...do you think they will ever leave from the top of the chimney again, on their own, to feed or something? We would love to be able to get on top of the roof to see where they came from (but don't have the equipment to so yet). We would love to try the bat valve, like you've shown. We were also thinking about getting some sort of camera down the chimney, to see how many bats there are (unless there is another way). We want to do that from the inside of the house/and go above the damper with it, but it seems too risky, since we would have to take the insulation out to do so. We may board up the bottom of the damper. My second question is...do you have any recommendations for what types of cameras/tools we could use? And third, do you have any advice/tips for us to get the bats out ourselves? Unfortunately, we are unable to afford the pros, at this time, but would like to remedy the situation. Some bats only need a gap a little less than a 1/4 inch to squeeze in. It may have just been roosting in your description. Sometimes bats realize it would be too costly calorically to fly back to their roost so they will find a "safe place" to roost for the day and be gone at dusk. Look for consistent accumulations of droppings on the brick face or the ground underneath to see it it is a habitual roost.
      hope that helps.

    Since bats come from the air and environment and are very toxic and cause deaths throughout the world, i feel like bat excursion should be provided by the state. It should be it’s own separate entity. Most people get bit trying to remove bats from their home and can get rabies, also their waste are so toxic. I’m here to find out how to get bats out of my home. It never once came in my mind that other people should pay for bat removal in my house. FYI, bats are beneficial creatures who control mosquito populations. The idea isn’t to kill them all, but to keep them out of your house. But seriously, if you have bats, it’s your problem to pay for, not someone else’s.
