Wow, I don't think I've ever seen a more well put together instructional video. He was very knowledgeable, and I believe he answered every question I thought of.
As an instructor in many capacities throughout my life and as an owner of a pest control company, I just want to say, this is an outstanding video with all the right information. I can't improve on this for training and will require anyone involved with Bat exclusion to view this video. I no longer have to continue searching for a solid training program or create one myself with this great information. Obviously, I will still be involved to ensure they get it right, but this video will definitely be a great foundation to start trainees with. Excellent!
Thank you! You are a gentle man. Everything you said is nice and clear. Sadly, my wife found a small reddish brown bat being eaten by fire ants this morning. I felt sad and determined to build a nice bathouse for the other living bats. We have feral cats, hawks, fox, gray wolves, squireels and owls. So, I want to help them too. I appreciate you sharing this video!
I’m watching your video at 3am because I was woken to scramblings at my windows of what I think was a bat trying to find a way in! I know what I’ll be doing these next few days! Thanks a lot for your great video and wonderfully smart approach to dealing with a bat issue 👍🏼. Thanks!
Excellent. I noticed some droppings outside near the house (I thought it was a large mouse or rat) but discovered it was coming from the eaves. My cat alerted at a window and I went to look and it was a hanging bat looking thru the window. So cute. Pretty big though. House survey today and bat watch tonight. Bats are great but not in the house, if in fact they are getting in. They may just be hanging from wire mesh I put up to keep out birds. We'll see. It is August so this may be a long observation before valves, if any.
fare play to you man great info I've counted 65 plus bats leaving a gap in my house the other evening so I'm going to try one of your tips and see how it goes for me thanks 👍
Back in the '50s the night skies were full of bats; we'd throw rocks up in the air and watch them dive until it got to dark to see them. I can't remember the last time I saw a bat outside of the zoo; maybe 20 years ago?
See RUclips video "How to get Bats out of Building" on details and specs on making the exclusion door/netting. The one by Florida Wildlife Management. It can't be too tight and should hang down a certain length past the entry point.
Every winter we hear bats inside our fireplace ,and we have caulked areas around the roof, Fassa, and soffit. we added new expandable foam to both sides of the chimney outside the house, and have steel screen over the attic vents, and chimney pipes. The bats use to get in to our living area between the fireplace and the mantle that is mounted into the wall above the top of the fireplaces slabs of rock, but we sprayed expandable foam in there and very rarely get 1 in our living space. Home made fireplace done by previous owners. our house was built in 1890, and has old steel siding which was also a diy job done by previous owners and done half assed. I am wondering if the bats are getting in underneath the siding as a lot of the old insulation underneath the siding has rotted away.
This all sounds fine but what do you do when you live in a huge Victorian house that was built in 1879? It's full of places for bats to get into. Since I've been there (several years) we had 5 bat incidents. I don't want one to get in while I'm asleep. The owners will never do what this guy is saying should be done.
Hmmm!! Found one hanging off my larder when I arrived home yesterday!! ,,never seen one in my life before. After a lot of shock, horror n thought, I threw a dark towel over it and carried it to the garden. As I took a pic of it, it just stretched out its wings enjoying its sleep! I've convinced my self , it might be better than rats! As for when I sleep, I'm going to keep a light on ... until I get every gap filled inside with silicon
@@eaglezapper9366 What is the light going to do? I am sitting in my bedroom with the door shut and stuff stuck under the door. Cause there was a bat and when I opened the door to let it fly out another flew in. They flew in and out but not together. I've turned off lights and am hiding out. How will I even know they really left? Not hiding for the day inside?
@@bluepuppy1139 Oh no. Fortunately, the city I live in has a hotline. When you call they come and get the bat. I usually contain it in one place so I know exactly where it is. One time, I was concerned that the bat may have rabies. The bat catcher said if they are flying around real, real crazy like, that's an indication that they could be rabid. In which case they keep it for testing. Otherwise, they just take it somewhere and let it go. Bats are beneficial to the environment....they eat mosquitoes and such so they don't kill them. Be safe
@@shanenoel1270 Thanks. It was nice to have a friendly voice in the middle of the night. It's 6 now and I believe they left. Going to bed. Thank you for the reply.
@@shanenoel1270 ps. Not my first bat. I have had rabies shots already but it's been quite a while. Plan on a booster tomorrow/ today. My dog just had hers two months ago. Cause if she catches one I know she will chomp it a bit.
I live in three story townhome could a bat get in our attic although I have no access to it? I hear sounds especially in my bedroom ceiling. I thought it was a squirrel and I found a strange bug either bat bug or bes bug, but I found some droppings too.
can anyone tell me what size wire or net i can use on my chimney cap with proper ventilation for gas furnace & gas water heater & keep bats out . thanks jb
Thank you for your information. I have bats coming in the garage. My cat found one there and brought it in the house. She had to have a rabies shot. My landlady checked the garage but found nothing. This is the second time bats have gotten in the house. My cat has had 2 rabies shots and l have had to have 1 shot. Not fun! A bat expert came out and checked the house and said no bats in the attic and entering. This is not true though. The bats keep coming back. Moth balls didn't work. The bats came back and one was in the garage. I don't know how many more are here but l know my landlady will not do anything to help.
I need to talk to this man. My husband accidently let a bat in the house, maybe 2. I could not locate them during the day, but at night it would fly around. I almost got it to go out again but it changed it's mind and flew away. I got 2 of the sonic things, hoping it would make them find a way out. We are not living in the house so I had to leave. I left mice traps out and when I returned a week later, you could tell 2 had been eaten off the trap and 2 remained on other traps, then I found the bat, on one of the traps. I felt bad. I had hope it would find a way out. I thought I heard one in a small walk in closet, so still not sure how to get it out. In the meantime, I had what I called a spooky closet because I could hear scratching in an attic above a closet in the craft room. I thought maybe it was a bird. Well, the night after I plugged in the sonic machine, a bad odor started to come from the craft room. We also had a sudden cold spell for several nights below 30. Something has died in that ceiling and still stinks after 2 weeks. I fear it is a colony, but not sure why they died suddenly. They said the sonic machine would not kill them. I just thought of the cold and maybe if they had not shut down to hypernate yet, would the cold have killed them in one night? My husband when he ever gets out there, will have to check the attic. We will have to do as the video says, because I am sure there are a lot of them in our area. I watched one night when I was there from my upstairs window. There were flying in and out of an open, 2 carport structure. It is hard to tell how many, they do not wear name tags so you do not know if you are seeing the same one over and over. I know one time, one went in, had not come out and another went in, so there could be quite a few. It is an old structure, faces south, so is a perfect, giant bat house. I have just become aware of the bat issues there, again, because we have not moved into the place. If there is still another bat, can it shut down and automatically go into hibernation since it has no food or water, yet it is still at least 50 in the house? Sorry for the novel.
Have you thought about building/buying a bat house for your property? If, and that seems to always be the issue, but if they move to it you get the advantage of them controlling many critters around your property, but also helping provide them a necessary habitat. Win/win.

We hired professionals and they Cannot seem to get them out! Recently. A bat slide it did not work after 2 tries!

Excellent video! I was at a wedding reception last night & a few bats were cleaning up the insects, there. Awesome!
Thanks James. You obviously care about wildlife as do I. Will follow your plans and try to evict these animals wish me luck.
Very thorough. And most professional video I have seen on this.Thank you very much!
Great video. Thank you for sharing your expertise!
Like others say let the licensed pros come and deal with them. This is spot on though, exactly the process you have to take.

Where do you find the non expanding injectible black foam for bat proofing your home?

We have plenty here in the mountains of western md.
This video helps me because yesterday I had a bat in my house

BEST BAT 🦇 VID YET !! 👍
Very true. I may try the bat cones.
It requires patience and it's not as hygienic as killing mice.
Bat droppings are hazardous.

Can the nonexpandable spray foam be used on roof to seal between ridge vent and shingles? Will it last?
This is excellent!
Thanks, J. Michael. Very thorough and informative.
What about the baby bats? Will they be able to leave with the adults?
Just got to the end of the video and heard about juveniles. Oh boy, it’s only July and we have lots of bats in our roof!!!!
Soon be September. Go get your net.😊

This is not a under taking that should be done by a novice. This work takes years of learning. With a license
You forgot to mention that you should always wear a hat so they don't get tangled in your hair and lay their eggs.
