Instead of Galaxy's Edge Disney should have invested in a Disney Sea Orlando 5th park. The only danger is it might make the Magic Kingdom look like an outdated over rated dinosaur. This Disney Sea park is so appealing it is hard to find the words for it. I need to hop on a plane and see it for myself.

Orlando Tourist Traps The Walt Disney Company is too rapacious and cheap to pay to build something like that in the United States. They built what they did in Japan because someone else paid for it, not them; namely, the Oriental Land Company.

      Slight update:
Disney sea and land now have a skewed pricing range from. 7,900-9,400 yen depending on the date, peak times, and entry times. Tickets that allows entry from opening, 10:30, and 12:00 are cheaper.
Note: it is still incredibly difficult to get tickets right now due to limited capacity.

(I'm late to this comment thread) I used to go to Japan to visit family over there all the time during the Christmas season - mainly because Australia's heat is absolutely unbearable - and I looked at a lot of the attractions through the year to start planning.

I've been going to Disney parks my entire life, I'm in my 40's and kind of a nut about it. I always have a great time with my family at the other parks but I got to go to Disney Sea and was SHOCKED. I couldn't shut up about how amazing it was, the detail, the scale, the friendly workers. It was insanely good. I didn't know the history of it, how they got a bigger budget than most (because the Japanese parent company wanted perfection) but they got perfection. If I put my nostalgia aside for the original park... this is the best Disney park, hands down.

I've heard and read many reports suggesting how negative staff behavior is in general in U.S park's is this true?
If so, I would suggest those certain staff members should all visit Tokyo Disney Parks to see how there counterparts behave in the parks.

    • @ronineditor9920

@@UtopiaBlue68 Honestly, I've never once seen a negative staff member in the US parks. I think, even if they aren't in great moods, they at least fake it. The ride workers always seem to go out of their way to be nice. I think they only 'meh' people would be the ones sweeping the park but they're usually nice but not always smiling. I've been to Disneyland at least 40 times (sorry, I love it, haha). In Orlando, people were great there too, which is shocking because it's so hot and sweaty most of the year. I think, with Disney, that's the KEY thing... knowing the workers will be great to you. That's a big part of the experience. Other parks, like Six Flags, that's definitely not the same thing... Magic Mountain has great rides but the workers seem pretty miserable there. But back to DisneySea... the entire park is just next level. We went on a pouring rainy day and I kept telling my family, as we were walking in, "This... is... AMAZING!" I knew something just felt different there and you can see it all over, the amount of detail in everything. Plus, the guests there are really different where, in the US, some people are still somehow salty but everyone there was beyond excited, especially the adults. It was so amazing. The next time I'm in Japan, I'm going again. I also want to checkout Shanghai (for Pirates 2 and Tron, even though Tron's coming to Orlando).

@@UtopiaBlue68 I think it's akin to why people find Hilton hotel customer service better in countries like Mexico & Asia than it is in America & Europe. Being an employee of a hotel in America & Europe is a relatively low level job with little benefits & mediocre pay. You'd often make similar salaries to customer service employees in retail. Whereas working in hospitality in places like Mexico & Asia are often aspirational jobs sought by many. It's seen as stable employment that pays better & can provide for a family or relatively comfortable life. So employees are just generally happier to be working there & want to keep their job. Thankfully Disney does pay better than other theme parks, though. So it makes sense why, in general, their employees are happier than say those of Six Flags or your local amusement park.

My first ever Disney park visit was in Hong Kong back in 2007. Then i went to Tokyo Disneyland 2016 and the year after that i went to Tokyo Disney sea. And i just felt like wow it was just getting better and better and last year i decided since we were going to Florida we might as well go to Disney Magic Kingdom, and oh boy it was a slap in the face with a dead old fish. Going to Magic Kingdom after Disney Sea is not something I would reccommend, haha!!!
Tokyo Disney Sea is by far the best park I've been in.

Yeah, Magic Kingdom isn't all that great, I agree. Certainly not worth the ticket-price they're charging these days. I've never been to Disney Sea myself, but to be honest I didn't really like Tokyo Disney all that much when I went there. I think Asian people are more used to being in crowds so they don't mind it so much, but for me the park was just way too crowded to really enjoy it. But that's a symptom of it's success, I suppose. If the parks were terrible there would be no crowds... and then I would be happy :)

To me, the most fun out of any of the events that go on at TDR are the Halloween events. Being that, unlike the US parks, they ONLY allow Disney character costumes into the park, but you don't have to be limited to a party. The cast members treated us as though we were the characters throughout our Time in the park. We only dressed up our last day in the park but MANY tears were shed when I left that last day. It was a level of true Disney magic I have NEVER felt at any of the US parks. I would recommend anyone to go. The affordability, the staff, everything... Make TDR the best of the Disney resorts.
Also, even the other hotels like the Hilton and such are technically on property. The Hilton Tokyo Bay is VERY affordable, very friendly staff, big rooms and the ticket booth in the hotel was very very easy. They do not take American credit cards so you will have to bring cash.

I take friends and family to one or both Tokyo parks whenever they visit over here, and Sea is always, always the favorite for everyone I take. I love it, too! One thing I think that wasn't mentioned in this video is layout in a crowd control sense. Everything in Tokyo is always so crowded, and TDL is, too -- to the point that sometimes you can't even get into a restaurant at any point in your day at the park! But Sea was very clearly built to accommodate huge crowds, so even when it's full it doesn't FEEL crowded. Sure, wait times on rides can be a nightmare but we still have the fastpass system, and so many of the restaurants are the massive, multi-counter style setups with an abundance of seating. Waits for the bathrooms are almost unheard of, too, for how big they are. I really, really appreciate how the park is built to make the experience as stress-free as possible in keeping basic amenities like food, toilets, and walking spaces so big and open that it's so much easier to relax and enjoy the experience.

I spent my childhood going to Disney World, College age going to Disneyland, and then five years of my adult life living in Tokyo going to Disney Japan. Objectively, I do feel that both Disney parks in Tokyo are probably the best. A good deal of it just has to do with the cleanliness and just overall attitude of the Japanese people at the park. Nostalgia though makes it hard for me to put anything above Disney World (mainly due to Epcot Center). Disneyland is way behind Tokyo and Orlando IMO.
In terms of the crowds, just like any amusement park, it's all about when you go and a lot of foreigners don't plan their trips around Japanese holidays because they aren't aware of the fact that there is a week off in May, two weeks of in March, two weeks off in late December/early January etc. If you go in the right months on a weekday, crowds aren't that bad.

I was able to get on most of the rides taking advantage of the single rider and the fast pass system. The food was cheap and delicious. For the Fantasmic show I found the perfect spot and waited 2 hours! It was just about 10 of us when I sat but after a while the crowd just grew. It was windy and I got a bit cold but the wait was so worth it. Fantasmic was the highlight of my trip I was crying by the end. I can’t wait to go back 😭

totally agree with your score. I visited this park in oct 2018. I already knew what the park looked like but still I was completely blown away. Amazing theming, amazing food and incredibly professional staff. As a themepark professional I was fascinated by their park operations. They're incredibly efficient in ride loading. I clocked the loading time at Journey to the Center of the Earth at 25 seconds. I actually had no problems with the language barrier. At one point I needed a phone charger and they (in limited English) explained the table on the back of the park map. That table lists food, shopping and service options in English and Japanese. That helped both of us out. Oh and try the gyoza bun, it's awesome.
Do you have plans to visit the Efteling in the Netherlands? This park is also ranked very high. Well if you ever need a Dutch speaking guide to Efteling I'm very willing to show you around.

    • @ReviewTyme

Tokyo Disney Resort really does everything right from the staff to the food to the merchandise. It really puts other Disney parks to shame in some of those regards! Also, Gyoza dog is so good, I crave them all the time!
We are hoping to get to Efteling (And Europe) sometime next year in 2020 because the European parks look spectacular (Efteling could be the park to knock DisneySea from its top spot for us! We would love to have a Dutch speaker show us around thankyou, so we will get back in touch once it gets a bit closer :) - Luke

Totally agree. I went back in 2006 before most of their big "E-Ticket" attractions opened and I still remember just being completely amazed. Also, we went in the summer, but for some reason none of the lines were long. We went on a lot of the rides multiple times because the wait times were so short. It was definitely not that way when we went to Anaheim and Orlando. And it looks like the park has only gotten better since the last time I was there. Would have marked the cast members higher, they really make that place extra ! That comes down to the Japanese culture though, they will go further than the extra mile to make things fantastic for park visitors.
I visited on my birthday, got my birthday sticker and all day cast members took time out to congratulate me and have a chat about our visit. Best experience at a Disney park i have had.

I think Disneyland Paris is the most beautiful Magic Kingdom park, and DisneySea is the most beautiful non-magic Kingdom park in the world. I would personally give DisneySea a 95 out of 100. I take 5 points off because there are not enough attractions. But after they complete the new soaring ride and the new land expansion (Peter Pan, Tangled, and Frozen), I think it will deserve a 99.

I'd rate this park 35/100 -- it's extremely outdated, it's has non-disney mascots, poorly laid out, not enough attractions, poor value for money (compared to other disney parks), very short ride times with very long waiting times.
It was quickly put together and not very well maintained.
The only thing that is excellent are the staff - but the staff at disneyland and the rest of japan are equally as good.

Out of Shadowland was actually my second favorite performance, following the under the sea one (forgot the name). But if don't understand Japanese language and culture it might not be your cup of tea. There are lot of dialogs. As far as the merchandise, I was VERY DISAPPOINTED. Maybe that was because my expectations were so high since outside of the parks you can get so many beautiful Disney themed items. The items in the park weren't as cute. The food and the service were OUT OF THIS WORLD, which does not contradict most of the experiences we've had in Japan so far. We are vegan and followed the lists of vegan items available in certain restaurants. The Italian themed restaurant crew CREATED a dessert OUTSIDE THE MENU for us and brought it complimentary to our table. Of course we went back there the next day ;). And they sat us at the same table and all the staff remembered us and our restrictions . No words. 😍
