    The T-64 doesn't have an engine - it has a smoke generator to simulate an engine at the rear of the tank, but it's actually wind-powered. If you look closely you can see the three medium sails and one smaller sail either side of the tank (eight sails total).

    My favorite part: 20:40
    Jingles: the T64 had a really complicated autoloader because like the chieftain its shells were made of 2 parts: the penetrator and the powder bag, but thats where the similarity end the chieftain was equipped with a mk1 British loader, with really big arms.
    :D

    Hey Jingles
    The ATGM spam from the MBT 70 is due to it being the stock ammo type.
    Most people don't have the magic darts yet..

    • @FireWarrior2013
      @FireWarrior2013 7 лет назад +4

      Ace Jetstream exactly. The 70s only have two choices of shaped charges. A shitty HEAT shell or the godly ATGM.

    • @aleksinuutila2315
      @aleksinuutila2315 7 лет назад +1

      FireWarrior2013 "godly"... It has only about 350mm pen and not so great post pen effect. The 350mm may be enough to penetrate most armor in some cases, but it loses so much energy doing so, that one crew member or fuel tank etc. will eat all the damage. If you had something like 600 or 800mm penetration like in the case of raketenpanzers, then its quite godly, unless it misses most components/crew.

    • @jooot_6850
      @jooot_6850 7 лет назад +1

    Hi Jingles the reason MBT-70s are using ATGMs is because the tank when stock only has HEAT and ATGM's available to it you have to grind it out to unlock Smoke rounds and its AP rounds.

      Userext47 nah, it was all still a normal M60A1 under the hood, it just had a new turret, a 152mm gun, and a whole lot more tech that was top-of-the-line at the time. However, the tank was not very popular, not very effective, cost more to make each tank than the annual GDP of Rowanda, and didn't live to the hype, so not many were made. Further, most of the ones that were made were later updated to the M60A3 standard when that tank design was introduced.

    The writers of the manual for MicroProse's original _M1 Tank Platoon_ singled out the T-64's ergonomics for specific mention in the "opposing force equipment you may encounter" section, describing it--paraphrasing slightly from very old memory--as "a fine tank for robotic dwarves, but a terrible one for human beings." (I believe, specifically, it's the one described as having an interior so cramped that the autoloader occasionally puts parts of the gunner into the cannon breech.)

    APCs(aka battle taxis) were designed to get troops to their destination under cover of armor then withdraw and were armed only for self defense. IFVs were intended to stick around and provide fire support to their troops, including dealing with bunkers and the occasional tank. BMP-1 was criticized specifically for its focus on the tank killer role, using a gun designed specifically to fire HEAT and ATGMs, it was found to be very inefficient against infantry and other light targets, which is why modern IFVs use an autocannon paired with a missile launcher

    HEAT rounds also depend on the angle of impact. Both APFSDS and HEAT use the simple 1/COSIN(ANGLE USING RIGHT-ANGLES = 0) since the jet is not deflected to glance (rock of water surface), as are APDS/APCR and regular AP.APC. Those should (maybe not in this game) have somewhat less than the COSINE-rule increase up to 45 degrees, and much more above 45 degrees, with APDS/APCR having the worse effect at high angles (over 60 degrees), since they cause a lot of heat on impact and the molten metal causes the projectile to slide off like it hit water, while AP/APC is hitting so slowly that the metal remains solid, if deformable, and bends up in front of the shell at oblique impact, completely countering the push on the bottom of the shell that first hit the plate at the low angles, and causing somewhat less, but still some effect, in countering the glancing effect at high obliquity ("foot in the door" effect).

    For those of you who don't know, enemy tanks have no makers what so ever in realistic. Only when they get shot by a main gun or a machine gun, will a temporary marker appear on the map and on the mini map marking their position.

  • @VulcanKnight
    @VulcanKnight 7 лет назад

    Realistic battles the enemy is never shown in the hud and/or map unless fired upon. Once hit, an arrow will appear above the tank in the Hud (Note depending on the crew skills , that may be skewed a bit {up, down, left or right}), and on the map until the firing has stopped.

    Actually Jingles, human loaders don't have as big a problem with exhaustion as you'd think; the slowdown in the rate of fire over time is mostly due to the stowage of the ammunition, i.e. the fact that the ready rack can only carry so many rounds. Therefore, as more rounds are fired and reloaded with no breaks to restock the various closer ammunition storages, the ammunition the loader would have to reach would become less and less accessible.

  • @Cylus1527
    @Cylus1527 7 лет назад

    Jingles, you'll never see this, but in RB "spotting" means doing some damage to an enemy tank. If you don't get hit by enemy fire, you can do whatever you want and as long as you don't take enemy fire, you won't appear on the map. Enemies can however, call attention to your position by pinning the map.

  • @maestreiluminati87

    In my opinion, having a loader is better than an auto loader, because the autoloaders themselves are usually complicated contraptions, so it stands to face more technical issues than normal, it can also get damaged and be rendered useless in the battlefield, plus when you have a loader, you have an extra pair of hands to help the crew when outside of combat.

      wait , that doesn't make sense in a RUSSIAN game. Plus from what jingles said about the T-64 it had armor much ahead of it's time , so getting penetrated by an AA gun made in ww2 in a cold war era tank? wat

      The rear and side armour can be penned with AA.

      Mizakhell the side armors of many of these tanks are very thin.they can be penetrated with ACPR ammunition of the AA guns.

      Only the frontal armour is composite armour. The rest of the tank is fair game as long as you have the penetration against steel.

    I mean... not everyone has played Armored Warfare, so they might not know about the different types of armor and their varying effectiveness against different types of attacks.
    And, add on to it the fact that people usually like using the most easy-to-win button possible, it's no surprise they pick the missile instead of an AP round.

    Actually jingles, the reason that smooth bore guns were developed was to improve the performance of HEAT ammo, not atgms. A spinning HEAT shell loses penetration due to the jet spinning appart. That why the British still use rifled guns, they use HESH in stead of HEAT

    Actually Jingles there are no target markers in realistic battles only way to tell others of enemy presence is by ether shooting them with MGs or shells! Small arrow appears near their tank and it shows on mini map and you can ping the map too

    Jingles when you start up a test drive you can set the time of day, the weather and also if it is arcade, realistic or sim. If you set your game to realistic it will show the stats for realistic in the garage too. :) just wanted to tell you because you said you could only play arcade when test.

    I have this series of books that were written in the late 80s, and because the T-64 wasn't exported, this series maintained the belief that the T-64 was actually a failure for reasons that weren't clear. Kind of interesting, I thought, considering it was actually the reverse, the thing was too good to export.

    I noticed something today I hadn't before (to be fair, I've never looked before either). I scrolled down through about 300 comments to confirm this. The most repeated opening to a Jingles comment is, "Actually, Jingles". As many facts as Jingles passes along, corrections lead the way in comments. Hilarious.

    APFSDS "long rod penetrators" (10-15-caliber long (more?)) lose very little penetration with increasing range due to their very streamlined shape and extreme weight (tungsten-carbide or depleted uranium). APDS also loses less than AP/APC projectiles, also due to its high weight (same material as APFSDS, just shaped like a small-scale, but otherwise regular, uncapped AP projectile). APCR/HVAP is an APDS with the sabot not falling off, so the air drag is pretty bad, causing these projectiles to lose penetration with increasing range rather rapidly -- the reason APDS was created (no sabot after exiting the gun barrel). APC needs its cap when the nose of the projectile can shatter on the plate due to its high impact velocity in later guns (early guns had them due to their low penetration and the success of thin face-hardened armor against uncapped shells, just as in battleship side armor). However, at high obliquity angles, shatter impedes ricochet (no solid nose left to pull the projectile away from the plate if the nose material does glance off), so high-velocity uncapped AP projectiles became superior again against highly-sloped tank frontal armor later on. This is somewhat complicated, as you can see.

    The further illustrate the point regarding the issue of KPZ70 and MBT70 tanks not firing the better APFSDS shell, which would have easily killed the T64 tank in a single kill. Here is my current service record with the KPZ70, followed by my acquired research points.
    I have a premium account by the way.
    88 battles, 48 wins - 54.5% winrate
    94 spawns, 81 deaths, 5 air kills, 115 ground kills - 1.48 K/D ratio, 1.06 spawns per match, 0.92 deaths per match.
    671k silver eagles gained with the tank, approximately 1.45 million eagles spent on repairs. Assuming an average repair cost of 16500, it's currently at 17500 with my latest upgrades.
    So far i have unlocked 6 modules, after 88 battles and 94 spawns in the tank. First you need 2 in the first tree to even start unlocking the better ammo, then you get the Fire Prevention Equipment because the tank cost over 15 000 to repair. At which point you have unlocked 3 modules, without premium this would take you about 80-90 matches. Then you can get the better ammo, then you find out he gun is awfully inaccurate without the adjustment of fire module. So you can get the better ammo as 3rd upgrade, in practice it's not very useful prior to getting 4 upgrades and you really want the fire prevention equipment, so you need 5 upgrades to fire the ammo effectively.
    In practice, without premium account, talisman and without buying upgrades, you need to play some 160-180 matches with my score. Which may not be the best, but it's by no means awful and it has been going up as i'm unlocking modules and getting more familiar with the tank.
    The new T6 vehicles are little more than a cash grab scheme. Even with a premium account, it's very difficult to even pay for the repair costs, and even when you manage to save up a 1-3k per excellent match, one fuck up and you lose 17 000 silver in one match. Playing good, even with premiums is not good enough. 1-2 caps, 3-4 kills and a couple assists barely cut it in terms of silver if you manage to die at the end.

    The commander doesn't load the ATGM on the BMP-1 the gunner does and he doesn't really have to get out of the turret either, and it's not just the ATGM that gives it the ability to fight tanks. The gun on the BMP-1 didn't even have HE when it was first introduced, only HEAT. So it certainly wasn't designed with fighting infantry at the top of the designers minds.
