Italian pilots were known for drowning out vocal radio traffic with their furious hand flapping and wapping. The turbulance in the canopy just sounded like a lot of high speed wind. Their radios worked just fine. You just could not tell the difference.
That or the radios were bad on purpose so the pilots could continue the long standing tradition of Italians waggling their hands about when talking to one another.
As if Italians had any problems using handgestures to communicate. They do it all the time. Even today. I can assure you italien people can communicate better by just using their hands than any of the allied pilots could with a working radio.
Fair point. Although my italian is a bit rusty, there is no reference towards that being "what they meant" when they assigned the EC designation for this prototype. What I can find, is speculation on "what it could mean" (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macchi_C.202), "probably meaning Esperimento Cannoni", but there is no reference towards that in the italian version. The only other reference I find about that designation is on the WT forums, so they can be wrong as well. It could be a case of someone making an assumption, and everyone else running with it as it was gospel. ... i'd still stick with experimental cannoli. Because it's funny like that. And much love to Italy, mind you, before you get upset.
that engine landing is a very good way to save slowdown time, some planes you can even belly land and save up to 30 seconds on landing the plane normally
Burrying the nose into the ground and destroying the propellor results in a much longer repair time. Most jets, on the other hand, can use their BALLS (Belly Assisted (totally) Legitimate Landing System) to make short landings at insane speeds with no penalty, due to their engine not getting destroyed on impact.
That teamwork, especially when they carved up that enemy trio before heading back again to fix his engine... beautiful. Like, chills man. Well played. Cannoli for all!
And in an effort to be "that guy"... at 23:22 he performed an Immelmann, not a split-s. I know, I know... totally trollish.... but I just couldn't resist! By the way... good to see you playing and posting warthunder again!! Cheers!
Lovely to hear Mighty Jingles on the background of a war thunder video with awsome commentary and historical facts about aircraft :) Thanks to him i started war thunder in 2013 !!
I love your war thunder videos for the commentary. I get to learn some history and watch some amazing gameplay as well. Keep up the good work, Jingles!
Jingles, fantastic videos man, these air battles are a beautiful to watch, I'm gonna go download war thunder now ! ....and side note mate we are here for you, as long as the content isn't atrocious your commentary will keep me coming back all the time !! Cheers !
good to see you doin War Thunder videos again man. I'm not gonna lie i hadnt played the game in about 2 years (World of Warships has been taking up most of my time) but after i watched this i had to download WT again. i forgot just how fun and frustrating the game is lol. Your history lessons during your videos set you apart from the other youtubers out there imo, i enjoy learning stuff i probably woulnt have been bothered to look up otherwise. Keep up the good work
Holy Christ, credit to that B-34 pilot for keeping that bullet-riddled wreck in the air for as long as he did. That was some seriously impressive skill, keeping it together until Nightshade came in like a bat out of hell.
Jingles, I remember you mentioning it, that showcasing War Thunder replays can be boring, but one aspect of why I keep coming to your channel and what makes you stand out from the crowd your historic coverage of the vehicles. i don't play World of Tanks, at the most played 2-4 tier 2 games before realizing it wasn't for me, but I still enjoy the content of WoT, which the community puts out. When a new tank comes out I watch Quickybabies reviews for the performance/ pro's- con's and yours for the historic background. Jingles, your style of making videos, your persona and the "original" feeling your videos have make me come to your channel everyday, since Mingles with Jingles ~50+. You are awesome and regardless of the game, you are the reason why I -at least- give every video you upload a try (and watch them through most of the times :P). Heck you can even make me watch Hello Kitty World online xD. Stay awesome and stay who you are, Mighty Overlord :)(
Nice video Jingles! About the uncontrollability: The local air velocity over a wing increases, reaches a maximum and then decreases again. At some velocity w.r.t the speed of sound (Mach number) the air velocity reaches the speed of sound. This is called the critical mach number. Above this speed, shockwaves will occur when the air is slowing down again. These shockwaves drastically change the aerodynamic characteristics causing the nose to pitch down (not good because the speed increases even more) and/or control reversal (also not good for the pilot's control over the aircraft). Many aircraft crashed that way, but nowadays most aircraft have measures against it. There is some good information on the subject on Wikipedia.
No jingless, compressibility means high pressure in front of the wing, stalled airflow over the wing - and low pressure around control surfaces - so no matter how hard you deflect the elevator, it does not respond. >Quite different from what is called compressibility in WT.
Jingles, I honest to Gods don't care what you upload, as long as you keep uploading. The recent events have shown that despite what you might pretend to be, a cold-hearted gnome -- and such you are, o'glorious Gnomish Overlord -- you aren't afraid of putting your foot to the ground and standing by what you hold dear. Such honesty and spine are sadly rare traits these days, and as before you have shown yourself to be like a shining beacon of reason and wisdom in this wallowing sea of dark chaos that is the internet. I, by the honor of the Templar, swear to remain subscribed to the very end, no matter what happens. Having said that, now I'll just go and crawl back to my little dark corner of the salt mines.
Hello Jingles :) A tip for the "jingles landing" As Senerox demonstrated very well in this replay such a landing can be beneficial! It slows you down FAST if you push the nose to the ground and if you got a GREAT ground crew the repair speed is actually faster then the rearm and landing speed of a normal landing.
It's worth mentioning, given the opening, that Clive Caldwell was also regarded as one of the least honorable pilots of the war. He is recorded as shooting multiple enemy pilots under their parachutes after they bailed out of downed planes. That's something difficult to support, regardless of a mediocre killcount.
that jingles landing is a tactic players use to slow quicker, similar to how Me262 pilots land on their engines instead of the landing gear, it just increases repair time by a few seconds
Actually Jingles, that landing is the fastest and most efficient way to land and repair the plane. In the time it would take to stop the plane in a perfect landing, you are already in the air if you let the nose ditch
Jingles, alot of players plant the nose of their aircraft into the ground on landing as its quicker to do that, stop and get a 30 second repair than it is to rely on breaks to stop. especialy if you have wing damage and will get a 20-30 second repair anyway. its very common for pilots to put the 262 down on its engines so they can land on smaller runways and get back up quicker.
A novel design solution of the MC 202 "Despite the hefty turning power of their V12 engines, MC 202s did not veer to one side under acceleration on take-off because, ingeniously, their left wings were twenty-one centimetres longer than their right wings: the longer wing generated more lift and so counteracted what would have been the aircraft's normal tendency to turn to the left." Excerpt from Spitfire: The Biography by Jonathan Glancey
Dear M Jingles, the landing manoeuvre was in fact an official side step move used by pilots. This quickly reduces speed or altitude depending on your own nose position and angle of attack. To perform that in a game, is need work. Keep up the work
You know, I haven't played War Thunder in a long time, but I did really like the MC 202. I definitely would have enjoyed it with cannons, but I managed fairly good results with the 12.7mm's. Nice to see someone putting it through its paces.
"How is that thing still flying!?" Probably also the thoughts of German FW-190 pilot Egon Mayer, after he exhausted his plane's ammunition putting well over 200 holes in Robert S. Johnson's P-47 and failing to shoot him down.
Clive Caldwell also has an infamous reputation for strafing pilots under their parachutes, most notably against a pilot from JG-27. This caused the Commander of JG 27 to announce to his squadron that he would immediately ground and discharge anyone in JG 27 who strafed a pilot that was already shot down.
I do those "Jingles Landings" on purpose. You get bonus credits and RP for landing an aircraft with a dead engine. By breaking those propellers, you get those bonuses.
Don't forget... Wing mounted MG's can be canted to allow the rounds to converge at a know distance.. You could get your rounds to arrive at a 5" circle at 250.- 300 yrds. That would devastate a plane.....
Actually Jingles, this wasn't a Jingles landing. While I'm not a fan of that tactic, because well....it just looks silly, he put his nose into the ground on purpose as you slow down way faster this way, and such are back up faster. It's the same with me 262 landing on their engines.
NDGR97 You're not in the air faster when you damage your engine doing so. And you can also slow down faster without looking like a donkey when you know how to land.
Sirion Nissan U. is right about that. You might end up repairing 1 or 2 seconds longer, but you save a lot more time by not having to slow down the plane by conventional methods
They have one of these planes at the national air and space museum in Washington dc. It's a really beautiful looking aircraft in person. The Italians really do make good looking vehicles.
Just imagine the inside of that cockpit. *pounding of a broken radio, followed by intense italian long-winded swearing*
Italian pilots were known for drowning out vocal radio traffic with their furious hand flapping and wapping. The turbulance in the canopy just sounded like a lot of high speed wind. Their radios worked just fine. You just could not tell the difference.
That or the radios were bad on purpose so the pilots could continue the long standing tradition of Italians waggling their hands about when talking to one another.
a radio on an Italian plane is useless anyway. a tv would be more effective
Andrew Cipriano scoobity boopity bopity bipity
Andrew Cipriano this sounds like a typical phonecall for us; we usually do hand gestures even when we speak at the phone :)
As if Italians had any problems using handgestures to communicate.
They do it all the time. Even today.
I can assure you italien people can communicate better by just using their hands than any of the allied pilots could with a working radio.
"Experimental Cannoli". That's all I can hear right now.
Ey!
AlphaPT I would love some Cannoli right now...
that engine landing is a very good way to save slowdown time, some planes you can even belly land and save up to 30 seconds on landing the plane normally
It does ruin the immersion though, landing on landing gear looks way better :).
I am a professional Catalina Belly lander, the messages some people send me are kinda funny.
Belly landing = very typical... should only add to the immersion ;-).
Copschrotter You still look like a donkey doing this. No skilled pilot would land a plane like this to save time.

I did it mom!
Sinerox Great game!
I think this is my favourite replay in a long time, well done to you sir!
My first time in the MC 202 in a while aswell
This is why I love jingles videos, talking about the history of the machine or something related, always nice to watch.
18:24 idk why I found what jingles said so funny but it made my drink come out my nose
And in an effort to be "that guy"... at 23:22 he performed an Immelmann, not a split-s. I know, I know... totally trollish.... but I just couldn't resist! By the way... good to see you playing and posting warthunder again!! Cheers!
I had forgotten just how beautiful this game is.....thx for coming back to it Jingles
Lovely to hear Mighty Jingles on the background of a war thunder video with awsome commentary and historical facts about aircraft :) Thanks to him i started war thunder in 2013 !!
this is the stuff i missed...i watched every single war thunder video jingles has ever uploaded and im so happy that he is doing more...so happy
I love your war thunder videos for the commentary. I get to learn some history and watch some amazing gameplay as well. Keep up the good work, Jingles!

I do like the way you give the tech and history of these battles. Keep it going Jingles!!
This video has made my day... Jingles commentary and history lessons on dog-fights are back!!! Not to mention the Jingles landings ;-).
good to see you doin War Thunder videos again man. WAR THUNDER! I'm so glad you gave it another go (as I have just got into the game and found myself having to watch some of your old WT videos).
Holy Christ, credit to that B-34 pilot for keeping that bullet-riddled wreck in the air for as long as he did. That was some seriously impressive skill, keeping it together until Nightshade came in like a bat out of hell.
Cheers Jingles, I'm an Aussie and never heard of Clive Caldwell. Thanks mate... keep em coming & love your commentary
I just got a computer good enough to run war thunder and now jingles is back with war thunder videos...what a time to be alive!
"What's an F2A doing in this battle?"
The real question is, what is a plane with 2x20mm cannons doing in this battle?
well I think I speak for (almost) everyone when I say that I missed war thunder!!! glad you doing videos on it again, keep up the good work! 😃
love the history makes your replays commentaries stand out :)
Literally just finished sending you a War Thunder replay and saw the notification. Impeccable timing as per usual Jingles!

You're history lesson and presentation are second to none on any gaming channel.
I love these war thunder vids keep it up jingles I love the mix of game play and history
Love these replays. MORE MORE MORE. I do enjoy your WOT stuff but this with all the history is fantastic.

Yesssssssss you are going to keep doing warthunder! Even if you were to drop world of tanks I'd come back for this. Jingles and warthunder is magic
Man, I'm so glad to have Jingles back on War Thunder. I really enjoy the history lessons.
Jingles nice to see these history lessons again! Much better than generic commentary :).
i have to shed a tear for seeing some jingles landings again i am so happy
I'm glad to see jingles back. His voice e is so therapeutic.
The Jingles trademark: Gameplay, facts and history, and some LOLs. Can't beat the feeling.
Lets try spinning, that's a good trick.
I love your WT content always very informative and interesting. The game play is just a bonus
It's good to see you do war thunder videos again
I use these videos to get sleep before bed. Jingles his voice is relaxing.
Oh, it's "that other" tank game. In the air.
No jingless, compressibility means high pressure in front of the wing, stalled airflow over the wing - and low pressure around control surfaces - so no matter how hard you deflect the elevator, it does not respond.
>Quite different from what is called compressibility in WT.
Well, I've never really found air battles appealing, but this video makes me want to try War Thunder.
Love to see that you are making war thunder vids again Jingles! Keep it up!!!😊

These are your best videos Jingles in my opinion.
War Thunder + hisory with Jingles, awesome! Keep 'em comin'!
Absolute perfection...ruined by that last minute crash. Seriously though, the duel with the P-40 was epic. This was a great video. *nods*
I really missed these War Thunder history lessons. Glad to see them again!
Came for the War Thunder video, stayed for the history lesson and jingle landings. Loved it.

You haven't lost your touch Jingles. Nice long (or average length depending who you ask) video mixing history and gaming commentary.
1. Would really like to see more content like this.
2. That might be the prettiest aircraft I've ever seen.
Loving the return of War Thunder. Keep it up!
Good to have you back, Jingles! There's a silver lining to everything : )
Love the War Thunder vids jingsy. please continue.
It's worth mentioning, given the opening, that Clive Caldwell was also regarded as one of the least honorable pilots of the war. Shouldn't it be the three Amici?
Counterflak Yes, because Amigos is Spanish, Amici is Italian.
Amico is Italian...
James Baird Stiamo parlando al plurale, non al singolare.
if you are going to reply, make sure you speak in the language i wrote...
James Baird Okay, we are talking in plural, so Amici is plural, meanwhile Amico is singular.
Ohhh a second well done video in a short time... now I'm going to want more content like this :-)
I'm very happy to listen to Jingles wax historical about airplanes. Especially Folgores.
That B-34 towards the end rolled many armor saves and was granted the emperors blessing
Jingles two war thunder videos in one week? You're spoiling us
Great stuff Jingles, more of this type of thing please!
God I missed these videos! Educating and fun to watch :)
didn't realize how much I missed these informational aircraft vids

omg Jingles finaly you covering warthunder . i hope you keep to upload more vids for WT
Oh yEah! Jingles on History and Gamers having fun at something I suck SO bad at, flying LOL. But I do SO enjoy watching.
Shout out to that P-40 at the beginning. He looked like be knew what he was doing.
Love when you add history of some of the less familiar historical aspect of the games
Liking the history lesson Jingles. Added value
Love the history lessons with these gameplays!
NDGR97 Holy Shit!? Jingles landing is a tactic?
Sirion you stop faster and get in the air quicker. Also damaging the engine has little to no effect on repair time.
Sirion Nissan U. is right about that. You might end up repairing 1 or 2 seconds longer, but you save a lot more time by not having to slow down the plane by conventional methods
NDGR97 you must be new here
Welcome to winter/summer everyone!
Hey look, three enemy aircraft!
aaannnddd they're gone...
glad to see you on warthunder again ya old sea dog!
They have one of these planes at the national air and space museum in Washington dc. It's a really beautiful looking aircraft in person. The Italians really do make good looking vehicles.
Thank u for another war thunder vid jingles
acculy, landing nose first into the ground is the most efficient way of landing since you slow down a LOT faster
Excited for the Italian AF. The Fulgore is one of my favorite aircraft in WT and the Italian line is just a bunch of upgraded Fulgore's essentially.
