Me 66 - bought SL8 SWORKS - long time dead - moved to Cali Colombia - mountains everywhere - quality - cycling club Sunday rides hitting mid 40 kph in the peleton. Love it.
A suggestion, most have already watched the videos previously. I would find value in a summary comparing all bikes in video, 8-15min at the end. Cheers,
I have a gen 7 madone slr frame and it’s the most comfortable bike I’ve ever ridden, on 50 wheels it’s also one of the best climbimg bikes I have ever ridden. Looks the business as well.
Just wanted to say thanks. Recently got back into road biking and got a great deal on an Enve Melee with Ses 4.5 Wheels and SRAM Force AXS + Powermeter. Yep. No one should pay 12k or more for that. So I paid half. I am in love with that bike. It’s probably way too good for my current skill level (recent zone 2 rides were like 25kmh for 35 km) but damn. It’s so good. And it’s even more comfortable than my old Hardtail MTB.
@@stevengrimwood-m3n Got it used on buycyle. With carbon check it was slightly more but I don’t want a headache. Was ridden for this summer season but was too large for the buyer. And yes, I got the whole equipment with it so I don’t think it was stolen.
I had bianchi Oltre xr 1 , and had a chance to ride older sl6 tarmanc, non s worx, it blows me away , totally diferrent ride , incredible transfer of power , stifness only one word to say - formula one , and oltre was my dream bike , I was really happy , but this is another story , now I understand that so many pro teams usa tarmac, yes tarmac design never really impress me so much like other aero bike , but riding quality on tarmac is another level ,so I bought sl8 blue onyx pro frame and will build new bike with ultegra set, and dura ace c50 wheels I cant wait ..... My experience
Your comment got my attention because I just purchased the same frameset, a color, yesterday. Like you I am looking forward to getting it built and then riding it
@@davidarthur That's true! I notice, also, that you have everything nicely timestamped. I can even skipt to my favorite sections like the SuperSix EVO and the Van Rysel!! You are awesome, David!!
you wont make mistake at all when choosing all the bikes in the list. even you close your eyes then picked any one of them. all the bikes mentioned is categorized as super bike.
probabaly faster than the tarmac and the new madone but surely less comfortable. if you are some heavy sprinter like me(6'4 95kg), that seatpost looks bit dangerous for me. was planning to get that factor ostro vam 2 before the trek madone comes out. eventually got the new madone slr 9 axs. \ about overall $2000usd cheaper if includs the welcome package and fitting services the bikeshop provides, way more comfortable with better warranty and bike cares, but its about 300g heavier than ostro, comes with that weird aero bottles and doesnt have a swork logo on it.
I think RUclipsrs should should start focusing on the more affordable versions of bike releases. Like Tarmac SL8 looks cool but did it have to be the S-Works version? Most people that watch this video can't afford and probably wouldn't benefit from such an expensive bike.
You're right. Its nice to see a roundup of $10k bikes, but I would be a lot more interested to see a comparison between a bunch of $3-5k bikes. Which brand offers the best bike for "normal" people? Sadly all the reviews focus on top tier.
Are you talking about a test ride or a longer ride? The geo on that seems similar to Emonda if I recall but they increased tire clearance on the new Madone.
Dave thanks for this. Really helpful for those thinking about buying a bike. Your video will help persons figure out based on their condition/ environment which bike is best. For me its the SL8, especially due to the bad roads I face. The carbon cranks I have chosen will lower the build weight by about 200 grams. Decided to go with 11 speed durace not only because its cheaper than the 12 speed options but lighter. Wheels will be light weight (elite wheels)
Must be nice to be able to shell out 10-14 grand on one of these bikes. Would it be possible to compare these super high end models with their lower tier setups, say with a 105 and lesser carbon wheels? Or don't the manufacturers want that?
Curious how many road race bikes you've tested this year? Think the melee is your oldest review in this bunch (least 12 months ago!). Curious to know how that review stands up in review since then. Meaning if you've only reviewed 10 then well less impressive than if you've reviewed 50 or something. Thanks!
Honestly, all of these bikes are mechanical wonders, cheers to all the engineers for their creations. And thanks, David, for your look at them and it's okay if you're sipping the tea or whatever. Your fellow fans understand. 😀
@@Djacob_ I think you're right, lol. And I'm just trying to be polite in British circles. And I rather enjoy sipping coffee or tea these days while I admire fancy bikes on RUclips. 😀

And I think it is an overused and misused term, not all enthusiasm is that and I prefer to think of David as savoring the bikes and sipping the tea. 🍵
I was torn between the Colnago C68 and the Pinarello Dogma. Once you ride the Dogma, its game over. Add a set of Campagnolo Bora WTO and a Super Record EPS group and it is the Ferrari of bikes. Fast, smooth, technically magnificent and beautifully constructed. Nothing rides like a Dogma or sounds like a Ferrari. Its why these brands sell at a higher price. They are worth it.
Meh, bikes that are either directed at folks who really need a "race bike", but more likely sold to folks who really need an endurance bike. The market for these sort of bikes should be even smaller than it really is. Not a realistic option for most folks re: price, geometry and real world use.

I don't really like these compilation videos, I'd personally prefer a summary video
The Verticale didn't quite make it? Also have Bianchi sent you the new Specialissima? There are very few reviews of it out there.
