It makes me happy to see that you show that mistakes do happen, but that you do fix them. Not everything can go flawlessly all the time after all! Gosh I'd do almost anything to be able to order from you without import and shipping costs to the EU.
Great work as always, but do you have to turn every boot into a pair of Nicks? It would have been cool to see the original hardware in reused, with a new leather sole instead of the vibram. I'm betting Viberg no longer makes boots this way, and to preserve that would have been cool.
Watching you sand away the ledge around the sole you had me worried I was thinking "oh no Buckin ain't gonna like looking down at that monstrous shelf" but you really narrowed it in...looks amazing!! Great work guys and I can't wait to see him get those back
I am a Logger/Faller and have wanted a pair of your calk Logger boots for ever, but with raising a family and paying the bills there just never seems to be enough $ left over to pay for a pair. Thanks so much for this Video it was so fun to watch how you go about repairing a pair. We put our boots and feet thru hell everyday on the mountain and it's nice to see the attention to detail you provide the guys on the west Coast. Thanks Again.

Not in the right place ATM but one day I'll own a pair of all black nicks loggers super well built love the style just gotta save the pennies is all love the content thank you
You can just watch the video from the part where they have the midsole attached. For a resole they just pull the outsole off and glue another one on. It's not that interesting.
@@chrisunfocused I think what he means I just a resole instead of turning every boot into a nicks. They make great quality good looking boots, but these really had something cool about them that's gone now. The leather soles with toe plate and spikes...etc , and the years of honest wear on the vamp and counter cover. I get that it's not what they do, but the history of these boots could have been preserved and they'd have been so much cooler.
A ton of work, which I think many people don't realize, and why they don't get why custom made boots are so expensive. Came our great. Last pair of boots you'de ever own.
Where can I get those metal toe plates from?? I’m an amputee and constantly wear down the right toe/tread of my boots. My dress shoes have triumph plates but trying to find the metal plates for boots has been difficult… love the videos!!!
Possibly in a "SHOE FINDINGS" Catalog. Meanwhile this is on Amazon. (6 Pair of Eagle Brand Size 3XL Metal Heel Plates & Nails) Might be a lead. Good luck.
Outstanding work! Really wish you would have let me in on your insulated boot secret when I asked about 6 weeks ago before I ordered a pair from a different Spokane company. I really wanted to try your boots but I don't see that happening now.
Kinda confused if you can't call this a restoration or what cause in the vehicle world you used too many new parts to be a resto maybe a resto mod but good stuff!
That's pretty cool. Question, however, how come you stitch over the sole lugs? Seems quite fragile. I would assume running a knife through the lugs along the expected stitch pattern so the thread can rest in a trench would work better for longevity?
The type of stitch is a lock stitch which combines thread from the top and bottom of the boot. Even if it wears away it is unlikely to come undone because of the locking thread. In addition, the glue is very unlikely to fail making a channel unnecessary
i hope you guys answer this. it seems you could just cut the seams and seperate the upper from the lower and not go thru all the drama of dissasemble of the souls. its great to watch, but after watching the process, there is no need. did you leave something out of the video ? do you need parts as templates ?
Does anyone know if the max support leather is more supportive than the 1964 leather, or is it that they are equally as supportive just that the 1964 leather is easier to break in?, I just want a more supportive boot in the long run
Why not just get a new pair of boots at this point? (I know very little about good boots. Sorry for the rookie questions.) Amd holy hell so many nails. Do they ever get to the feet?
When they nail I to the boot they have a last inside with a metal plate on the bottom. The nails smash against the plate and clinch over, like a staple. This makes the ends blunt and secures the sole. You won't feel the nails in the end, and I believe they put a piece of leather inside the shoe at the heal just in case
Honestly, it's not restoration - that's rebuilding, and new version of boots looks completely different. It's good job, but it's not interesting - just new pare...

Today I learned a new boot construction method: "Nail that fucker down" or "Hardware stores best friend".
Beautiful work!!! I’m really looking forward to seeing his reaction!!! 👍
Well, I'm starting a saving for boots account. Everyone of you that worked on Buckin's boots are keeping those skills alive and we thank you!
With the exception of the tongue, upper and eylets, this is a new boot! I totally love it! 😍😍
What a great rebuild. Well done and thank you for sharing this process with us. I believe the customer is going to be completely satisfied.
time makes things unique, restoration makes them generic
Hey Nick can you add caulks( not sure of the spelling)to a pair of my work boots ???

Surely it wouldn't be hard to make your own with some sheet metal, a file, and some punches. They may not be as elegant but it would work.

Nice boots!!

big upgrade, but remove the old stitches of the heel! That messed me up.
When one of your machines breaks down, are you able to fix it in-house most of the time, or do you send it out for repairs?

The owner probably changed his work a little and wanted them to serve his new purpose better (now he can drive in them for example).

Does this mean Nicks is going to open up rebuilds of other brands soon?
honestly, that was a lot more nails than I was anticipating.,
I think my home is held together with fewer nails...
