@@davidm0934 TD has a 5 year dividend CAGR of 8.5%. BNS is 4.9% for their CAGR for the last 5 years. So TD does have a lower starting yield but they grow it at a faster rate than other banks.

I picked 5 stocks before playing the video. TD for the reasons you identified. Amazon because it will eventually be split into a number of highly profitable companies. Pfizer because over the next 20 years we will see many more pandemics like Covid. Thomson-Reuters because of the demand for instant information and content. Finally, CNR because railways will always be the transportation backbone for resources and bulk goods.

It's amazing how much TD Bank has grown over the past 20 years. It was well behind BMO and CIBC at one point and they have been so on point with strategic decisions and growing their brand, that it's quite a story that they are on the cusp of passing RBC....something that was unimaginable not too long ago.

Love the picks. Hold 4 of them myself (TD, DIS, GOOG, AMZN)
What I find interesting is that “name your 5 favourite stocks” and “pick 5 stocks to hold for the next 20 years” are two very different questions. When building a “do not touch” portfolio, there is much more thought that needs to be put in in order to properly diversify. That being said, my 5 are: GOOG, ENPH, TSLA, TD, MSFT

Hi, bit off topic, but what if any would be the advantage to having an RRSP holding US funds? I assume that holding US stocks in my existing CAD RRSP then has the conversion when dividends are paid or stocks sold. So my only thought is that if you hold an RRSP with US funds in it, than the conversion wont exist until we actually withdraw, and the dividends will be paid and reinvested into US holdings without conversion fees back and forth as long as they stay within the RRSP

When you withdraw from an RRIF, which is what the RRSP turns into after you retire, you will need to report CAD equivalent of the USD, so either you convert and withdraw or withdraw directly, it makes no difference. Now, if you are going to spend time in the US and will be spending your USD direct, you can avoid the conversion costs. But for taxes you pay the same. Btw, you don't "hold an RRSP in US funds", you "hold US funds in a RRSP", RRSP is a basket and US dollars, stocks, bonds are the goods you put in the basket!
