3:25 I was in the circle on Semi's night, and I hadn't followed the Blue Devils show, so I had no idea there was a huge hit out of nowhere. I literally jumped because it surprised me so much
+kevin belo I actually think they ended up getting 3rd in brass achievement and 4th in content for finals. Definitely not their best year, but they're still amazing. Now the hornline does move better than any hornline out there. Their visual package is always spot on.
I've listen to Devils and Crown back to back over and over again. There is so many soprano weaknesses in the Devils horn line. It is an astonishing thing to me that the horn line of the Devils even got the placement they did.
+MattyIce S If you actually conduct it, It flows much better than a traditional 3/4 pattern at fast tempos. It's my personal favorite for anything 3/4 at 172/176 or faster

I love that Meehan is having fun with it. So damned relaxed and it shows in that hornline for sure.
+blakman7 Only way to do it, thanks!
+John Meehan i am a brass player and some day i want to be a college band director. .....are there any tips you can pass down to a up coming rookie
He is so much fun! He is a clinician for my high school band and he composed some of the show.
+Malik Moore Just keep working and enjoying what you're doing!
that drum major was getting the fuck into that
god damn
WARN PEOPLE ABOUT THE VOLUME!!!! Started my computer and this video at full volume with earphones and I almost shit myself....
that's the point :)
Wow. That entrance at 6:33 was incredible.
I can't imagine how much more amazing this sounded than a month earlier when I got to sit in the circle when they where here in Minnesota!
Half the time, the field commander looks like he's attacking someone, the other half he looks like he's taking a shit. I love it 😂😂
+drummerjared17 ...field commander?
yes
Aaaaaand that's why they won.
+kevin belo Except the part where they didn't win brass
+Thomas Keane LOL i heard numerous parts with pitch issues. They most definitely didn't win brass haha

I mean they won percussion.
The attack at 3:30 gives me chills

I don't know a lot about sopranos, but I thought they were using trumpets? sorry lol
Robert Runyon lol what? Nothing tops BD's soprano line dude
3:16-3:55
Such a killer sound, great drum major and brass staff.
What's the piece from, Sweeny Todd?
1:20 crown in the background
Those lead trumpets though 0_0
i love the drum major's face
me too!!!
i like the high notes of the trumpets
at 0:54ish a euphoniums valve must have gotten stuck. I remember that happening and then being like oh crap!!!!!!!
I didn't hear it till you pointed it out. But damn now I can hear it
+herobrine0987 you have better ears than me
+ThatWasSexyPit it's incredibly small of a difference. As a Euph player I can probably hear it
as a drummer my hearing is shot
+ThatWasSexyPit that is a true statement
just another reason why I'm in band😋😘😍😁🎺
3:28 is awesome.
I cannot stop watching this!
5:41 woah...
im sad they didnt play the last part of their show.... that's my favorite part
Anyone find the video the guy at 2:05 was shooting?
BlueBass2 Blue Devils Mediabox
+BlueBass2 He is the genius behind Inside BD 360
Whats that swooshy thing they do at 5:41 ? and why?
they're called E to O's. its to get the throat more open. going from tight tense throat to deep open throat
Also look up Breathing Gym, put together by Sam Pilafian and Pat Sheridan. BD (and a lot of other hornlines) follow their principles.
where can I find the music to "Chapter 5"? @ 1:30 I LOVE THAT ONE
Devontae Lindsey it is called children will listen
Gods music....
3:16, 6:26
I was there!
1:00 someone is overplayinggggg.
does any know what time signature he is conducting? Is it 4/4?
Which part?
+herobrine0987 Just at the beginning part, I've only seen a more flowing movement from a conductor...But it seems to work for them :D
+MattyIce S It should be 3/4. Their Patterns are very simmilar for 3/4 and 4/4
+MattyIce S If you actually conduct it, It flows much better than a traditional 3/4 pattern at fast tempos. It's my personal favorite for anything 3/4 at 172/176 or faster
BEST BRASS!!!!!!
what are those chords?!?!
Which ones? I can hear them well in this recording and probably scribble it down. Perfect pitch baby
Chris Allen The chords they did after their scale warm ups. @ 0:46 Really wish i could hear chords easier.
BbM7, am/C, Db, Eb, F
Same intervals, but starts on
EbM7, dm/F, Gb, Ab, Bb.
Second chord I'm 75% sure, if I could pause it...
This video is Bae.

The soprano's are the weak element in this horn line.
What makes them weak? These are the best players in the biggest corps in the world
Jacob Barnes 2 years late to say that's the stupidest thing I've heard
