Used to be discouraged during my first days of marching band and ever since I learned about the blue devils it really helped me, I am now gonna try out for bd 2024
I remember going to a DCI show and got to see the Blue Devils along with many other AMAZING marching bands. Being new to the marching band scene, seeing how effortlessly they made it seem gave me such a sense of determination. I remember I had seen the Bluecoats show this year online and was really looking forward to it in person, but I also remember the show before that was the Blue Devils; I was a fan of Metamorph back in the day but i hadn't seen nor heard of Ghostlight yet, i didnt know what to expect but i wasnt let down, i couldnt breathe by the end of it. Right then and there i knew i was going to be a Blue Devils fan for life; I'm glad they won this year.
I remember being in the practice room before a game at the U of Nebraska and hearing the killer deafening brass in full form before we went out and played for 76000 fansAwesome! Stan Kenton would be so proud of this brass!
I LOVE mello countermelody in the finale. Too bad you can barely hear it when it’s played on the field. But you can really hear it in this vid. Love it!
The over-the-top conducting antics all these brass caption guys do (seems like they all do it, not just BD) really cracks me up. "oh thank God you queued the low brass like you were fending off a hungry mountain lion with a broken drumstick, because no way they would've nailed that attack without your arm spasms!" hahaha That said, bravo BD Brass!~
ReeWray Outdoors I believe it’s because most of them were dms back in the old days and that over the top conducting can be seen in most old school corps
I suspect only a minority of them were actually DMs. But I do think it actually comes from just how emotionally impactful a powerful and precise hornline can have on someone who's passionate about it, as these guys clearly are. But...still cracks me up. haha
ReeWray Outdoors In my experience it’s to bring the energy that the corps needs to perform at such a high level and in my band when our director conducts like that in the lot it hypes up the band and inspires us to play with more energy or passion versus a more lazy or relaxed style of conducting, as the band will try to mimic the conductor’s style
ngl I wasn't really feeling the blue devils show this year until really recently when I saw them at NightBEAT and it really got to me! it's a super amazing group this year (as always) and they're really cleaning it up well. they could break 99 again this year honestly. tough competition in the top though. rooting for everyone's best as we wrap up soon!!!!
Love the way their uniforms sway in the wind when they play, it looks so badass
I love the way he turns around 0:20
3:38 I was listening and I was like OMG THAT THE BEAT MY HEART SKIPPED!!!
3:38 i felt that in my *BONES*
3:00 to 4:01 brought to tears of joy. Reminded me why I love everything about playing the trumpet.
Used to be discouraged during my first days of marching band and ever since I learned about the blue devils it really helped me, I am now gonna try out for bd 2024
how did it go brother?
That moment though at 3:36.... brought both a tear and a big ass grin.... Just WOW!!!!
The very first chord I thought was going to be Sweet Victory from Spongebob.
I may be a bluecoats fan, but the beat my heart skipped is absolutely beautiful
I LOVED that first chord and that song @3:38!!! The whole clip sounds great but I expect that each time I click on a Blue Devils clip.
Watch BD 2011 a minute after the show starts
oh lol its the opener from 2011
Faded wait huh
@@Tetrahedr0l when they played a house is not a home
Can’t believe those were warmups, can’t imagine the show

The 2011 opener is still my favorite opener of all time and I still can’t believe they’re playing it as their warmup this season!

THAT SAN ANTONIO SUNSET THOOOOOOO 🔥🔥
this video is powerful
3:37 the cutoff is amazing. It is dead silence and then the next chord is very full. Also, that’s the way every conductor should conduct.
Share this video if you like DAILY uploads!
Done!
ThatWasLoud awesome video! What type of mic are u using? Is it a stereo mic? Thx for sharing.
I'm 30 years old. Where do I sign up for the old people version of this 😢 I want marching band back in my life.

Could you imagine if 2019 and 2017’s trumpets merged into one huge mind blowing group???🤯🤯🤯🤯
Don’t forget about 2014 opener
3:39
The BEST PART i like
The run between 1min 37 and 2 min is simply orgasmic!!!
That bit at 4:06 is incredible

Best Hornline in the world😌 btw we’re playing this for our marching show in highschool

Justin Johnson right?
Justin Johnson I’ll be in brass band with one of them this fall (and one of SCV’s mellos)
They sound insane. I can’t wait to see them win!
Excellent quality, as always! What are the odds you can get the Madison Scouts and Bluecoats hornlines by the end of the season?
Doing our best to get everyone!
I always get chills with BD 2011
what’s that from 2:08 to 2:30 called!? i been wanting to learn that
What is the ballad at 3:37?
I love how they play the opener from The beat my heart skipped. Especially because everybody who was ever in that show aged out
but imagine how they'd feel if they were chilling in that horn arc
The tuba part for this show is amazing

John Meehan is the musical staff for our high school marching band. He is the guy in the plaid
What are those high notes it's cool but whattt??? At 1:25 to 1:29
High f below double g for trumpet. (f4 major or concert eb4)
What is the name of the 4:09 song?
What is the piece of music at 4:08? and is there a whole version of this somewhere?
Harri Archer it’s a segment from the 2019 blue devils show! You can find it all over RUclips if you search blue devils 2019.
Harri Archer Im not sure, but it’s apart of the ballad I want to say for their 2019 show
Its hard not to smile at this
Ay. Get it Angelo
Oh snap ThatWasSexy
They were going in to WIN!
Malik (I think that's his name?) Really marched Coats 2016 and BD 2019, that dude did it
By far the best shot DCI vids I've seen. Have you thought about an ambisonic microphone to capture audio for these recordings?
YOOOOO I was there in that circle
Vantage whats your name? We’ll see about that
Vantage oh did you mean listening or playing
Trumpet, what's your range?
Trumpet: Yes
Is there a specific song name for time 3:38 because I love that part. It’s sounds so amazing
It is from the opener of their 2011 show The Beat My Heart Skipped. One of my favorites with Metamorph and Ghostlight.
Nice shot Ricky
who did 2011 better, bd 2011 or bd 2019?
Holy hammer tongues and releases, Batman
how the hell did this fly under my radar?? I live in San Antonio and like thirty minutes away from the Alamodome. I'm. Sad now.
How is this guy conducting with out THE conducting Wand?? He must be a master
They deserved that 1st place finish at NightBeat!
I was there
And in centerville
how do you record such clean audio?

So tight ! Sheer perfection!

What's the name of their ballad
That was like opening the blast furnace HOT!
What trumpets do they use?
