      That's why I have had three, but I know I wouldn't go back to a pure geared bike due to my type of riding for commuting, if I do change it will be E Clutch or equivalent👍

  • @jimporter
    @jimporter 6 месяцев назад +10

    Honda have assigned the NC the role of cheap commuter bike and therefore throw cheap components on it. The could easily raise it to the level of the X-ADV 750 or Forza 750 with upside down forks, dual front disks, better dash, self cancelling indicators, alloy swing arm and adjustable screen. They could even add better suspension on the rear but they won’t because cost, those two scoots are £2-2.5k more expensive and that brings the NC into NT territory especially once you start adding packs. Why they just can’t can do a standard and pro addition I have no idea especially as they patented the next gen NC engine a couple of years ago.

    • @birchwoodbiker
      @birchwoodbiker  6 месяцев назад

      totally agree but the DCT isn't that cheap, the issue people don't want to pay over 12k for the DCT, the adv has 1/10 of sales in UK compared to Europe which is odd, even for me they will need to update it, or even I would by 2nd hand and do my own upgrades👍👍👍

      @@birchwoodbiker never mind there are going to be bikes available from others soon with auto/manual boxes (I need it as can’t use gear shift due to nerve damage) Yamaha have announced their first with Y-AMT in the guise of the MT-09 and have promised others to come, BMW have the new GS with ASA, Kawasaki have their hybrids and KTM have announced they will have autos.

      Standard and Pro addition is a good shout. I've had my 2021 dct from new done 41k miles on it great bike ,but stock suspension far too had. Dated dash, no cruise control, self cancelling indicators, and maybe belt drive. If Honda run the standard NC along with the upgrades I've mentioned I know which would be the best seller. I would be be happy to pay say £2k more for these Luxuries.

    Couldn't agree more with your comments about the NC DCT. I've had mine for just a year now but I'm a serial bike changer and would normally be looking for my next one before now. Currently there's nothing else out there to compete with it for me so I'm stuck with it! And I'm happy with that. Hoping for a change from just commuting and going to the shops and riding it around the Picos next year all being well.

    I came down from a 1200 Crosstourer DCT to the NC in 2021(current version). Simple reason was the crosstourer was so top heavy and at 70 I didn't use the extra performance. Just done Spain & France (1,800 miles) and didn't even need to adjust the chain, just kept it lubricated.

    Good summary Paul. I've only done 1500 miles since May on my NC750X DCT, but it does need better suspension, I've fitted a Nitron TSS 22 front fork kit - way better. I don't mind the dash, but I do miss cruise control. After my previous MT09 SP, it is rather too heavy, but the DCT is brilliant! Now, Yamaha have introduced an auto version of the MT09, the Y-AMT - I'll be keeping an eye out for that in the showroom!

      @@awol6739 I own a G-W, a ZZR1441, and an NC750X. While you can filter with the G-W you cannot filter in the same way. I regularly ride from South Warwickshire to Dorset and back and I have stopped using the Wing for the journey specifically because it is not suited to the inevitable filtering due to the constant queues on the A338/A31/M27/M3/A34.
      Furthermore it has fuel economy the Wing can never replicate (I recently got 108.4mpg on the way south) and is so easy to manoeuvre around. In fact I am giving serious consideration to getting rid of the almost-never-used Wing.
      Then there's the less than half the price insurance and servicing costs.
      Don't get me wrong, the Wing is an extraordinary machine, but in my opinion it is not ideal for UK roads, but more suited to cross-state trips in America on deserted highways.

      correct you can,t filter the same as a smaller bike but you can filter, most people think you can not, you can manoeuvre a honda cub better and get better mpg if that,s someone,s goal or cheaper insurance, we do two up touring so that,s why i would choose a goldwing, is their a ideal bike for u,k, roads no, such thing, luckily we have choice,s how long for ? you say you have 3 bike,s may i ask why, is that because,of choice, then fair play to you, i could tell you a true story about a zzr 1400 and another about a couple of fireblades if i bump in to paul somewhere i will buy him a coffee and tell him, or if he buy,s me a coffee i might tell him some dark secret,s concerning bike,s but we would have to have a, n. d. a. in place. it all come,s down to choice ride what you like.😀

    The worst flaw on my 2019 NC750X is the suspension especially the rear. The slightest roughness in a tight turn makes the rear end start stepping out. Small potholes will jostle the junk in the trunk. Ride it back to back with a newer Kawasaki Versys 650 and you’ll see the difference.

    I like to ride and chill on my 2015 dct, but with almost 55 thousand miles on it, it is becoming rather unreliable in the drive department. It sometimes sticks in one gear and you have to stop, turn off, wait 10 seconds, start it up, wait for the gearbox to sort itself out, which it always does, and off you go . Latley, it sometimes sticks in gear, then after a few seconds decides to shift into neutral! One day, hopefully not, its gonna happen when iam overtaking something!
