Can you believe that Jan Vermeer van Delft painted a grand total of 37 paintings in his lifetime? That’s not many at all compared to his contemporaries and other artists. But that’s what makes his work so special.
The centenary exhibition at the @RijksmuseumAmsterdam is your chance to see 28 of those 37 works of art in ONE place. That’s a first! We have already been there and in this video we take you through the exhibition. Enjoy!

music background title?
It is infuriating that the "restorers" have ruined Vermeer's painting of the woman behind a curtain. Part of the cherub painting was painted out by whoever painted the curtain; are they suggesting that Vermeer didn't paint the curtain? If he did paint the curtain, he also painted out the cherub painting. (There are several Vermeers in which previously painted figures have been painted out by Vermeer. his panels were difficult to prepare , and he would not have thrown any away just because he'd made a previous beginning that he didn't like.)
I am sorry, but I'm not a restoration expert... I think this should be addressed to the museum. Have a great day!
@@museos_com I apologise. I meant no insult to you-of course this isn't your fault, it's the ignorant people who manage the museum who are to blame.
@@michaeljohnangel6359 No worries! 😅I am just not in the position to say anything about that, as I don't know the background of this particular restoration. Have a great day!
