Cheers for the gas hob update really appreciated you doing a video on that. Will give it a go later today and now I understand the mechanics of the hob you have shown I'm sure it should be an easy fix.
Hi Mark Thanks for the update good tips on spider's in my ring need to look out for that. Just purchased the charger you recommended as have an old leisure battery that I'll try and bring back to life with that.
Yes some covers can cause moisture if not fully breathable, so go for something like protec. Again the more expensive towing covers shouldn't cause any issues.
Without doubt the best presenter I watch on here, you're thinking ahead is amazing, don't say "so" when you start a sentence though, your wife's comments work well as well, Why am I watching about caravans? haha
Great video again! We have issues with our rings not remaining lit. What causes this problem? They go off as soon as you release the knob. Its very frustrating...
If you give the control knob a few knocks with the palm of your hand, this will sometimes release the magnetic valve in the gas valve. If this works its most likely the magnetic valve, if it makes no difference, then it could be the thermocouple.
Sal is out of ITU now mate. It's going to be a long haul. She'll be in hospital for a couple months. I'll be over as soon as I can. Probably need something with twin beds now. Sal loves the van, but we'll need to adjust for her. If that makes sense.
@@thecaravanplace thanks for your reply, I think I’ll get one. Thanks for your RUclips vids, there’s always great tips for everyone to learn from. I’m not far from your place, will pop around soon to see what’s on offer soon. Top man Mark👍🏼
Hi Mark, Great vid as ever thanks. Would periodic hooking the caravan (& leisure battery) up to the household mains sort the battery out and for how long ? Our leisure battery is less than a year old and is used solely for powering up the MotorMover.
If the battery is over 12v then yes plugged in every few weeks will do the job. If it starts to drop below 12v, the caravan Charger may not get the battery back up to full charged and it will then need a separate charging with a more powerful charger.
Try battery maintainer CETEK from Halfords bit expensive but dose a good job it can remain plugged in also do reconditioning which also worked well for me. Or less expensive solar battery maintainer you can leave in caravan window or position as close to ceiling skylight used this method on motorhome engine battery never let me down might include a bit of work to gain entry to battery compartment for small cables. If caravan at home you can check using cheap multimeter in think my solar panel again from Halfords was 6 watts output .
Hi mark we due to pick our first carvan up.The dealer rang and said that the leisure battery is not great! is it down to the dealer to replace this thanks
Hi Andrew, no unfortunately they don't normally come with a leisure battery, if you buy new, you get nothing. We always say if it has a battery fitted, we can't guarantee it's any good, but if it is, then it's a bonus. If they sell batteries? See if they will do you a good deal on a new one. 👍
They wouldn't strip it down on a service, only test. If they find a problem, it would then be a chargeable extra. The Caravan service only checks for faults, but doesn't include fixing the faults. 👍
The electric ignition spark has stopped working on our bailey cooker, have changed the rocker switch and tested OK for power is there a spark generator anywhere please.
It's most likely the part that is at the back of the cooker (ignition lead) the ceramic type coating sometimes cracks and it will be shorting somewhere else. I would try removing the ignitor and check it over. Normally a case of removing the oven and that will give you access to the ignitor lead. But it will need the gas disconnected then gas checked after re connection. Hope this helps.
I do not even own a caravan but find the channel interesting and informative. Good work.
Thanks Colin 👍

Hi Mark, could you possibly put out a video regarding Caravan Covers and Towing Covers, can they cause damage to windows?
Yes some covers can cause moisture if not fully breathable, so go for something like protec. Again the more expensive towing covers shouldn't cause any issues.
Really good videos. Keep them coming
Thanks John
Nice one Mark. 👍
Thanks 👍
I love your sense of humour Mark. Great video!

So I will try not to lol. Thanks for your comments 👍
Very useful video, Mark, thankyou. Im trying to do everything solo now, using your videos as a "go to".
Glad to help ☺️
A interdental brush would work great for this problem of the gas ring
Arghhhhhhhh....everytime I see the upside down union jack, it really grinds my gears. 😭😭😭😭😱😱😱
We do need to get it sorted sorry.

Oh great news Grant. Fingers crossed all on the mend now 🙏
I do like the look of the recommended charger on here. Would like to here some reviews off anyone on here if they buy and try one out. 👍🏼
It looks good value for money, the reviews looked decent. I saw a RUclips video on it and looked good too.

Gas block, like the primus stove pricker, to unblock the jet hole. Old as the hills, but still works. Mmm who would have guessed it???
Thanks Ken, you can still get them on ebay. 👍
@@thecaravanplace wow thanks. Got a few old primus that still works. About 5 .
Hi Mark great videos for me to watch on what to do with my van could you do one for the dometic air con on what you have to service on it thanks
Hi Paul, I believe its just the filters on most of the truma units. Then just checking operation.

Hi Mark. How do I get to your Amazon store. ?
Hi Greg.

hi...can you use an ordinary car battery charger or a special one...thnx..
Yes a normal battery charger is fine, as long as its 12v.

@@thecaravanplace many thanks
What’s the usual cost of a service please
Around £250 on average.
Nothing worse than a dead spider stuck in your ring 🤣🤣🤣
Nothing worse lol
