The official S-Log3 LUT is amazing to get to Rec709. Leave settings as standard (S-Log3 + sgamut3cine, no additional saturation. The LUT does it for you, on top you can do some creative looks if you want. If your exposure was off, tweak it on the layer BELOW the LUT. Also, of course zebras don't show at 100 as S-Log goes up to 94 IRE. Set zebras to 94 or 90 for some safety margin.
Do not use those settings on a a6400, it is only 8 bit and slog3 & the S-Gamut color spaces are too much for a 8bit codec - you can use slog2 but not with the default S-Gamut color (you will get blotchy skin tones) i use S-Log2 & ITU709 matrix for color and made a LUT that only converts only the S-log gamma and leaves the color as rec709.
Idk about adjusting those sLog settings. Wayyyyy easier and more accurate to leave the camera on defaults and just use a transformation LUT to go from sLog 3 to Rec.709 and then grade from there. Sony has an official LUT for this.
Matty, on the histogram it's not showing you 'to the wall' over exposed, because slog 3 maxes out at 95 ire. Try setting the zebras to 95 and then you'll see clearly what's blown out on the image. Also gamma display assist might be helpful as well. Anyway, that helped me ;) All the best.
Try my neutral settings, I compared it to slog3 and they are crazy close and you might like the setting for even faster grading: Neutral -1 contrast / -6 Highlights / +6 shadows / 1 fade / -2 saturation / 5 sharpness / 1 clarity
Just put out a video today reviewing the A7s iii and mentioned a lot of similar things, great video Matti! Although I think most people shouldn't shoot All-Intra. For commercial projects, absolutely, but for RUclips stuff, or lower budget projects, it's not really worth it for how much hard drive space is required. Especially if you're traveling, whenever that happens again haha; you'll need to bring like 10 hard drives, and you'll need to use the CFExpress Type A for 120fps, which right now only come in 160GB.. dumping cards per every hour of footage is not ideal for non-high end projects. Regarding the autofocus speed, I'm using 6 and 5, and it's been working well :)
I find slog3 and overexposing like Gerald undone recommends, somewhere between 1.3 and 1.7 stops over on the meter to be a great start. I slap the official Sony rec709 lut on that and then a small amount (20-40%) of a stylistic lut over that for cinematic or commercial style stuff.
The intro opening packages was a fun ride! Thanks Matti. About the covid talk towards the end. I feel you bud. Lost my job at the airline, had to move home to Iceland, and I'm in a different country from my wife. Covid just blows.
Yes the colors look good on the A7SIII without a Picture Profile; however, it is limited to 8 bit color. If one were to want to use the full capabilities of the A7SIII such as truly 10 bit color, it is required that they shoot in a Picture Profile that utilizes the 10 bit color such as SLOG3 or HLG3. This can be super important when it comes to uploading an HDR video to RUclips for example.
I don't think that's accurate. Picture Profile does not affect bit depth on the A7S III/FX3, it mainly affects dynamic range (and what your footage will look like straight out of camera).
@@MichaelVeerman Correct - you can confirm this by going in the menus: Shooting > [1] Image Quality > Movie Settings I highly recommend checking out Gerald Undone's video on Sony Picture Profiles: ruclips.net/video/1qJXvxDFcYE/видео.html. ***Matti Please Read*** You can’t simply add contrast and saturation to s-log and expect accurate results. You must convert the Color space to rec709. If you want you can do it in resolve using the color space transform tool or I could make some luts from that tool so you could use it in premiere.
Leeming luts are where it’s at for colour correct log conversion. Then add your look to suite your taste. Also ditch premier and go with DaVinci because it’s way less sluggish and more optimized.

A little misleading on the Adobe Stock epidemic sound linkage. If you already pay for Epidemic Sound, there is no way to link your license. Moreover, the files in adobe stock don't even share the same names as the titles and artists in epidemic sound so using Premiere to preview files to download later is pretty much useless. Hopefully they will allow linking the license at some point. I am not paying adobe for the songs I already pay for.

I have 2 really great lens 16-55mm 3.5 and a 55-200mm 3.5 so they’re great but I want want a lens with a wider aperture so BAD! After I get my one wheeler Segway of course though haha
great info! thank you! :)
Happy to see your Happy Sony-Face! 😁 So you are now then Sonynter = Sony + Hunter Welcome to the growing Sonynter Team like I started during 2016.
Love the channel. Maybe I will make the switch to Sony in the future.
It’s kinda good right now 😊
As a result, it became a BMPCC footage with high DR. I like you being happy. From sad canon user
I like my settings at 2 for responsive and tracking. Looks more like a focus pull :)
