I hit 710 AP2s for years and loved them. I’m around 12 handicap. They aren’t too difficult to hit and feel very soft. I just upgraded to Taylormade P790s though and am in love.
I use these in the 714 model, I have no hand cap at the moment, but really like the club most the time, it feel that it makes we work more and that some other clubs would let me get away with bad shots
I play with 712's I'm off 10. ap2's are all about the looks for me. they look great at address and inspire confidence, I know they are up there with the best irons you can buy. Just don't thin a 3i on the first on a winters morning.
great review Rick/Rob I am still playing my 710 AP2 off 13 they still look fresh n new when cleaned. I am probably a similar swing speed to Rob my 6 iron is 31degrees about 150yds carry. The 716 have shrunk in size very noticeable if you compare with my 4/ 5 iron, I do think Rob could hit my 710 4 iron but for 716 sets might need to be a combo with AP1.
I play a 716 2 TMB then 4-9 in 716 AP2. The MOI attributes of these clubs is very noticeable with off centre hits. The ball stops easily on greens also. I agree with what you had to say Dobbie ;) thumbs up.
Hi Rick/fellow youtubers, so! Today I went to my local driving range and hit my own clubs (ping eye 2, yes the ones from the 80's), I hit some dreadful shots. Frustrated and disheartened, I went into the pro shop and took the advice of a friend of mine and picked up some different Irons. I tried the Titleist AP2, I hit a full basket of balls absolutely brilliant. Every shot was straight and carried distances I can't hit with the best shots from my own clubs. My question lies with I feel that these clubs are above my skill level as I have a high handicap of 25. All forums I have read are saying a handicap of 15 or less is needed for these clubs? Was my experience beginners luck or is it possible that these clubs simply suit my swing? Any advice more than welcome
Jamie Hunter dude, I feel the same. I'm off 23 and I had to loan just a 7 iron of these while I had my one re-shafted. I've never been so consistent with a 7!! Loved it! I suppose what most people would say is, do what works!
Matthew Griffin I bought them in the end from a different shop and my game has improved massively dropped my handicap 2 shots so far and only had them a short while. really looking forward to properly getting to grips with these irons! love them!
Don’t follow those handicap recommendations, your handicap and ball striking are totally different. If you feel confident enough and have the ability to hit an ap2, then go for it.
Great video, i use the 913 Ap2's. Im off 24... and I agree with your comments. However on my good day, I feel far more in control with the AP2's... over the oversize iron option.
Great vid. Thanks!Would you review the callaway xr 16 drivers please with rob ? And it would be great if you swob the shafts betwen the Models. Would be interesting to see if there is any difference in spin at all.... Thanks! Greetings from Germany Keep up the great work. (You and rob !)
Potentionslly looking at getting these irons, I'm going for a custom fitting on Wednesday but when i hit this in a sim yesterday 7 iron went 187 and that wasn't full beans. My handicap is down to my chipping and putting which I rarely have a chance at practicing but that will be changing
Interesting, had a look at these in the Pro shop last weekend. Not sure whether to try Titleist or Mizuno for my new bats. Play off 12 and am a bit fed up with my old Ping G10s
Mark Hedetniemi 25's basically the same thing, I used to have mizuno mp53's mate plays off 1 and regularly shot mid 60's with the g25's so I thought if they're good enough for him they're good enough for me, haven't looked back since, they're ugly though
@@noobovsky420 just a little bit i just bought these irons i thought your comment was funny lmaoo, one thing that hasnt changed is Cobra is still terrible
Thanks Rob and Rick. I agree this is a gorgeous club. In fact I think it's the best looking club on the market. If it was all down to cosmetics this would be in the bag. Would these be a comparable iron to Petes psi irons, jpx forged, xr pro. Also Rob if distance wasn't an issue would these be on your radar. Ie Would the forgiveness level be Ok for you. (you seemed to hit them well). Thanks again guys & I love robs reviews. I play off approx 18- 20 so whilst not as good as Rob I'm close enough to feel his reviews are good for me.
I personally play with the JPX 850 forged and tried the AP2 beforehand. I had my mind set on the AP2 but the fitter pushed the JPX forged and made me hit those and they are so much more forgiving than the AP2s. It may be the smaller blade length on the APs, but the JPX had the perfect blend of feel and distance, with added accuracy for me personally.
Rick, I play off a handicap of 7. My current irons are 714 AP2 4-6 iron and 714 CB 7-PW with SM4 52 & 56 degree Vokey wedges. It gives me the forgiveness in the longer iron and more control with the shorter iron. What is your opinion about a split set such as this? Would you recommend it?
on your new software your often testing irons that land on and roll on the green. is that not a bit misleading? Other reviewers use a driving range to see carry and roll. if for example Rob is not hitting the iron well and it lands just before the green and then rolls and rolls and rolls onto and over the green the yardages in data will show a total yardage that isnt real realistic. it will show the carry for sure...but it will make his total yardage look more. or am i missing something here?
I looked at it and thought "OMG its gorgeous". The smaller head isn't scary really. The AP1 is huge and too big really for a mid-handicapper. The AP2 is lovely, just (ouch) expensive....
I think it's just that if u play with the thin topped irons u know there isn't much help on mis-hits.. not sure it's scary in itself it's just scary in the way u think it might be

It's because tour pro's used to only play blades, but now they play anything that can give them some good forgiveness. The thinner the face the smaller the sweet spot.

I hit the AP2 today. What a great feeling club. I hit the 7 iron further than I thought I would.
Get em!

If you want to play clubs like AP2 - go buy a bladed 6 iron and hit it for a month. AP2 will look like a ping G iron after hitting blades for a while.
Nonsense

Please
Nice looking clubs I prefer these more traditional lofts to the cranked stuff most makers are cranking out these days
Nice irons, for sure, but are they any better than those of two years ago, or even four?
Robert Morley maybe with the tungsten but other than that I don’t really think they’re a lot different performance wise
Titleist are just a great brand to be honest. Virtually everything they make is top drawer

Way to hit that forged iron Rob...good job! Speith's got nothin' on you bro!!
I love the cb's being off 8 I just admire them from afar

Good swing for a mid handicap.
Great vid again Rick I like to hear robs views being a mid handicap myself could you please get rob to review the srixon z545 and 745 please
Hey Rick,
i would love for you and Rob to compare the Mizuno MP-25 and the AP2's. love the videos you and pete are putting out. take care!
I'm playing 714 ap2s 4-pw with a 716 t-mb!! Great set of clubs!! Oh and by the way I play off 17.
3 iron in the t mb
I'm 13 and I have 2009 ap2 and I love them I'm at 12 handicapper
The Titleist CB kind of reminds me of the old 990's.
These clubs are really sweet, but aren't as soft as the cobra fly-z+ (which I absolutely love), but definitely a set worth the money.

Geez, just make it two degrees stronger, it is a forged club and you have your length.
Hi Rick,
you don't do a lot of testing on putters, if i'm correct. Why is that, since it's the club most used?
He does loads of putter tests in the past. Just go and look at his vids
have you had him test the srixon irons?
Thanks Rob. I'm interested in your answers to Martin Moore's questions below.

Will this not go as far as AP1? It seems he is hitting them as far even with more loft
Did anyone else notice that his average club head speed dropped by 3.9 MPH?
Shaft lengths also come into play
+TJ McComish shaft weighs 20+ grams more than the AP1.
+TJ McComish
I think he was also wary with it being smaller/thinner head so paying more attention to strike than just smacking them like the ap1's
+TJ McComish Club head speed was not measured. Ball speed dropped.
+Jedi Golf Same shaft length
There are a lot of Titleist players playing the CB Rick! I think probably more those who play MBs
Hi, I´m from Argentina. Can you make a comparison with Rob between this Titleist AP2 and the Taylormade PSI Tour Forged?
+Mariano Botany all the TM guys are playing RSI or tour preferred iron heads....none use PSI?
Rob was much more accurate with the Ap2, this is what I found when choosing the Ping i25s over the G30s

Why doesn't RIck do these videos anymore I always enjoyed these at least for the comedic chatter

Why is it scarry when an iron looks thin from above?
I think it's just that if u play with the thin topped irons u know there isn't much help on mis-hits.. not sure it's scary in itself it's just scary in the way u think it might be
