I absolutely love the fact that Rick recognizes that not everyone is a scratch golfer---I just happen to be a golfer that scratches a lot--but I digress---these videos have helped narrow down which ones I wanted to get fitted for---I ended up with the Callaway XR---looks chuncky but it was the best distance on the launch monitor.
rick and rob very smart idea showing someone other than a pro how they get on with equipment. ..I have been watching rick for almost two years now and really enjoy when robs on
I totally agree with this review. My next set of clubs will definitely be Titleist. Titleist is not gimmicky. They maintain a two year cycle for new clubs. With them, you are never left feeling that your clubs are out of date a few months after purchasing them.
Just ordered a set of AP1s. I've been playing the demo set from the pro shop and love them. What strikes me the most about them is how STRAIGHT the ball flight is. And they're 1 1/2 to 2 clubs longer than my 20 year old Tommy Armour 845s.
Replaced my Ping G15 irons (of 4 years ) with these irons in September. Beautiful clubs. Love the look and they make me smile everytime I see them. Very forgiving aswell
Top review guys...I know rob got alot of negative comments after the Nike driver review...but this review was great...definitely back to your best. Thanks rick and rob...big thumbs up
Tried these indoors and they are so easy to use. I have the ap1 714's and they are not really any different from the ap1 716, though the 716 looks a little more slim than the 714 but feel wise and distance, I was getting identical performance.
Can't wait to see you hit the G irons in comparison. Recently tried these and found them to be decent but they just didn't wow me in comparison to others in the same range.
I'm sorry if I might have missed it but did you do a video for absolute beginners yet? For example what kind of clubs to get, is a full set necessary, ... Since I'm getting pretty interested in golfing at the moment this would be something really interesting to me and I bet some other people as well!:)
Der Unbekannte When a beginner, most clubs will do just fine, because you are not looking for presistency, precision, hight or length. When you « allways» hit 6-12 shots on a par 4 hole, it does not really matter what you use. U just need something that you can hit the balls around with and use in the bushes looking for lost balls.
Hi Rob, nice job with Rick. I used to play to a 14. Have not played in 12 years (shoulder injury) , my muscle memory is all but non-existent. I am now 68, hitting 14 year old Ping I 3's, TaylorMade 3 & 5 "Burner" woods, Ping 56 degree wedge, Staff "Fatshaft" Lob Wedge, and lastly a Staff Fatshaft "Big Red Titanium" Driver. Would very much appreciate yours & Rick's thoughts between AP1, M1, I200 or G Model. I Feel like I am starting from scratch. I think I should invest in current clubs but, I am not certain what to get. If this helps, I used to hit my 7 iron to a 157 carry and a straight shot. Now, 146 (depressing) 7-SW Straight, 5 & 6, pushing a bit right. After 3 mths still not getting consistant crisp contact. (But, much better the last 6 weeks since watching the videos) I have been religiously watching Ricks videos and another Coach who resides at the Belfry. Not very impressed with most coaches on video (with the exception of Phil). Rick & "The Other Coach" take the time to explain structure. I would appreciate your comments at your earliest opportunity.
So glad you've reviewed these irons, been waiting ages for this. Bought these a couple of months ago, after being fitted for them with my club pro. Went with Nippon 950 shafts, 2° flat, really pleased with the results. Thanks for the earlier reviews to help me along 👍👍👍keep up the good work ⛳⛳
I personally don't like oversized clubs but I've seen these at my local club and these are very attractive to look down at behind the ball. Just need to save up for them
The idea of a combination of AP1 and AP2 seems a good one. I am off 13 too but completely different from Rob in height and striking ability on the longer clubs so the combination set would work.
They said 20 hc and down. An avarage «mid» golfplayer does normaly a bogey on each hole. A beginner does double bogey and much more hits to get the ball in the cup.
I hit the ap2 forged irons at local pga store and it was the best feeling and balanced club I've ever hit. But the price point is way to expensive to hit.
Maybe have a weaker grip? Also, his swing seems to be more of a sweeping motion on the ball rather than "downward" compression type swing which would increase his his rate..
Hi Rob, Between the Callaway XR, Taylor Made M2, Ping G and the Titleist AP1, which club would best suit a 20 handicapper. Thanks. BTW Rick and Rob, good job as always.
did you get some new irons in the end? if so what did you get? I'm looking at the ap1s or the ping gmax at the minute as want to hit my irons a little more consistently
I went to the PGA Superstore and tried several different irons. In the end I chose the Mizuno JPX EZ. They felt the best and gave me better results. Plus Mizuno is now just going to focus more toward the pro style clubs and the set of 2016 JPX EZ's only cost me $500 verses the original $800 price tag due to discontinuing. I would suggest trying them out. Good luck with whatever you choose. Now to find a set of forgiving woods and a driver. Any suggestion?
wicked ill give them a go when I'm next at my local pro shop! iused to be able to hit my tee shot a really good distance then one day developed a terrible slice that i can't seem to shake! i tried out the ping g30 sf tech driver and the callaway rx and hit the ball long and straight again! i was so so happy so think I'm going to go for the ping or even upgrade to the ping g sf tech driver!
good video, does rob test the whole titleist iron line? I currently have the 690 mb and looking to upgrade to the 716, jus dont know if I want to stay mb or go AP2
+Brad Campbell test them all. I am sure your local fitter will work with you and you will know what works best for you. Either way if you are into a Titleist you can't really go wrong. Excellent gear from balls, to irons to woods and wedges
Looking at pricing, the CB is the most expensive Titleist offers. Surprisingly, Rob rates this a 20 handicapper or less, where the AP2 as a 15 handicapper and lower.
Great review. This is the 1 of 2 clubs that gives me just a little of buyers remorse from my fitting last month. I found no difference in distance with the AP1 and the GMax, just dispersion. I went with the GMax just for the extra forgiveness on bad strikes. The other club being the S55 from 6-PW and playing a bag of hybrids haha.
making a golf club is all about compromise - yes push weight down low and crank the loft down the ball will fly further but it also spins less..and there's the problem. u pay ur money and u take ur choice. personally I would prefer more "traditional lofts" and spin models and if I want to hit it further just take another club. Science hasn't changed - these clubs could have been made years ago but players then were not just seeking distance as is the modern way. These are nice clubs of their type but not for me 👍

And it doesn't even matter if they are a few years old due to them being just naturally better than all other brands, I would never use anything else
Just ordered a set of AP1s. I've been playing the demo set from the pro shop and love them. What strikes me the most about them is how STRAIGHT the ball flight is. And they're 1 1/2 to 2 clubs longer than my 20 year old Tommy Armour 845s.

Love robs reviews

Top stuff again, fellas. Looking forward to seeing Rob hit the MBs.
I have just bought them :D So exited to play with them on the course
Tried these indoors and they are so easy to use. I have the ap1 714's and they are not really any different from the ap1 716, though the 716 looks a little more slim than the 714 but feel wise and distance, I was getting identical performance.
Love my 716 AP1's
You guys are both class acts. Hope the cap goes down this season, lovely swing Rob
Can't wait to see you hit the G irons in comparison. Recently tried these and found them to be decent but they just didn't wow me in comparison to others in the same range.
Living in Minnesota sucks as an AVID golfer.
I need something for indoors like this... I"m right on the precipice of shooting even consistently!
I'm sorry if I might have missed it but did you do a video for absolute beginners yet? For example what kind of clubs to get, is a full set necessary, ...

Craigslist till you break 100
Then after you break 100, buy some standard newish used irons, used driver, putter, and 56 and 60 deg wedge. Dont play pro v’s until you break 90.
I just switched from speedblades to ap1 and boy I'm glad I did, titleist feel wonderful
Thanks Rob. Helpful review.

My next set! This summer...

Great Video!!! I'm at the moment torn between these and the Ping G Irons... But I always like it when Rob tests!!! :-)

Mark Johnson little do u know the future
I got my Ap1's 714 before I broke 100. Broke 100 first round with a 97.
James brown I just bought mine with same objective. Below 100.
For how long can you be a mid handicapper? You holding back mate?
They said 20 hc and down. An avarage «mid» golfplayer does normaly a bogey on each hole. A beginner does double bogey and much more hits to get the ball in the cup.
Congrats on the GolfWRX deal!
Love these videos with Rob!

well done boys, Rob would you put them in your bag??
i really want to see Rob test out the 2016 nike vapor fly and vapor fly pro.
I'd like robs opinion on the AP2s an who should use them.
Can I do a head to head on the vapor fly and vapor fly pro
Love these irons
is it possible to make a rankings with all Ron irons ratings to compare them? it's great to have his point of view on each club.
Hi Rob, Between the Callaway XR, Taylor Made M2, Ping G and the Titleist AP1, which club would best suit a 20 handicapper. Thanks. BTW Rick and Rob, good job as always.

Do this for T300 vs latest AP1s. Would love a mid-high handicap video
Rick, can you state on tests whether Rob is using regular or stiff shafts, cheers
good video, does rob test the whole titleist iron line? I currently have the 690 mb and looking to upgrade to the 716, jus dont know if I want to stay mb or go AP2

Rick. I know this video has been posted a while but was he testing a regular or stiff shaft?
It was between these and the RSi 1s, just a little too pricey for me but they are absolutely beautiful clubs
Rick so young!
I'm a 7,6 handicapper and i'm using these lol :D
Looking at pricing, the CB is the most expensive Titleist offers. Surprisingly, Rob rates this a 20 handicapper or less, where the AP2 as a 15 handicapper and lower.
What shafts is he using mate ?
DohzyM8 Go for regular.
can we see rob test the srixon range of irons :)
Is rob hitting the whole titleist line? Would love to see how he gets on with the AP2's
Would love a set of them, student golfer problems. I'll stick to my Benoss hot speed's.
+Matthew Pritchard use that student loan wisely ;)
Is there a considerable difference from the 712's?
+Gerald H no
Rob have to test the new AP1.
what clubs does rob play with? have in his bag
Could you please have rob test the new cobra line? PLZ
Where does Rob Potter play his golf, and his he a member anywhere?

robs starting to talk aliiiiittle too much in these reviews hahaha
+tinpan alley YEA hit the ball hit the ball
Nice work guys! I'm wondering if these will go in Rob's bag?
The hair went from robs head to ricks face

These are nice clubs of their type but not for me 👍
This kid must have a lousy short game. His swing looks to be really good. What’s the deal. Have him try putters.
6 iron 150 that's pretty weak. 185 for me with my Ping g25's
darrell laplante Rob was in a wreck and got badly injured which lost him a lot of distance
tat22020 gs I’m a 12 year old junior and hit it 160 is that bad
Too bad your 185 doesn’t fully compensate for your small weeny
I think the clubs are a little long for Rob... Hence the low lefts, he's not a big fella.
pitching wedge:43degre
lol
Good way for club manufactures to sell you 3 wedges.
6 iron 150?! How tho?
Corey Vanular Not a problem if you can hit the ball accurate with a complete swing and avarage speed.
No offence but this is starting to feel like Rob Potters channel. I'd like to hear Ricks Rating, not Robs rating.
He dose this for people like me who hit mid handicaps... I find it more informative cause it's more like me hitting the ball
Rick talk more rob please shut your trap a little sir
I like hearing robs view as I'm a mid handicapper
