I never told him to fill in the pit. But I did think it would have been cool if he put stairs at each end of the pit, a railing so people wouldn't fall in and turn it into a chill-out area.
Quick followup question mister moderator please: You have over 132K subscribes, and prolly a good ten or fifteen non-sub viewers on top of that. I suggested last year that you simply ask each of us to send you a bag of gravel to fill the pit. After careful viewing in 1/10th of a second increments, I have counted the gravel as it went into the pit area. We would have only been short by the volume of one crushed Trabant.
Good day Bob , The contractor did a professional job on the concrete floor , not every cement guy has a power trowel , and it makes such a difference in the finished product . having a level shop floor is SO IMPORTANT . when the floor is not level its a problem job, after job , what ever you paid it was money well spent . Thanks for making these videos Pete M
You are my favourite RUclipsd by far you make videos about stuff normal people would do and you are great at editing and personality is great aswell. I’m so glad you figured out the issues you were having with mental health and could back to doing what you love!
If it was my shop I probably would've kept a drive-over pit and installed rails to let those jacks like four-post lifts be used, but that would have probably necessitated cutting even deeper down into the ground. Probably also would've put electrical into the floor. His shop, his choice though.
I can understand your enthusiasm. I just finally reworked and paved a terrible corner of my yard removing tree roots and bamboo groves and roots and felt the same way when it was done. Felt so good to finally get that finished.
Robert- so good to see your contrary self! Please check your local codes before you do much more wiring- particularly for things like the garage door openers. Most codes (and the insurance companies) will only let you wire one "permenant appliance" to a single circuit and will not let you branch off for other purposes. Don't know about yours, but check- in the event of an insurance claim, you may be denied for "unsafe practices'. It is always good to see you up, around and creating consternation! More room in your shop should definitely mean more projects! Good on you!
Dedication means getting this video two days early because of Patreon and still watching it again now when it comes out normally because 1) I like the video and 2) he deserves all the views.
I sure wish my house had the land and a shop like you do. I had to make do with what I could afford so I had a single car driveway with a car port and added a 6 foot cedar privacy fence with a gate, 12x16 mini barn with a loft and a gravel parking area on the long wide side of my small lot. I made it work with the money I had left. That floor adds a lot more space and shelving on the walls or some of them would give you places to stash tools and light parts unless you get industrial versions. Glad you're slowly building up your dream and sharing it with us. The car content will happen and I like your sense of twisted humor anything you post on either of your channels. 👍
I am pleased to see you acquired more money, and enough to fill in that stupid pit! Plus lights? Bonus! Here's hoping to further success of the channel and Patreon!

WOOT! We both got concrete! what a happy day! Btw (read all of this too so it doesn't sound weirder than it actually is) I had a dream the other night that I was helping you fix a stationary detroit diesel generator set. You got the engine running, but didn't understand the electrical and asked for my help. We got it all working, it was up on top of some remote mountain somewhere, and it was massive (more massive than a 24 cylinder detroit genset actually is, which is already huge).
WHOOHOO NO MORE PIT!!!!!! So much productivity! I'm jelly of that shop! I was having a pretty crap morning but after watching your video I'm feeling pretty good! =]
Here's a top tip to keep you warm in winter for little cost. Add a ceiling fan. Otherwise you waste a lot of heat via the roof. The temperature up there will be too high and the temperature differential between outside and inside will be bigger without one and thereby more loss.
I didn't realize from all the previous videos just how big that pit was. Seeing it now, I think I would have built walls around the perimeter inside the pit to build a small mezzanine over the pit. Put stairs to go into it, and steps to get to the upper level. Turn the lower level into storage area for project parts, etc; turn the upper area into a small office space/ your white-board presentation area/ shop break-room.
@@agingwheels Just be careful you don't damage either the bus or your garage door. Not just when putting the bus in, but also when you close the door, you don't want it to come down on the hood!
