I drive an old Volkswagen Golf Mk2 and it has got very special clock. First of all it’s just a normal analog clock, secondly you have to reset it every time you enter the car and lastly when you drive, it does absolutely nothing for about 20 minutes straight and then it jumps ten minutes forward, just like that. I absolutely adore it.

Lol, I used to work for Wheego as an intern in Atlanta. Everything about the car was designed or bought oversees and glued together to hop on the EV hype train. Most parts are off the shelf components and the Curtis motor controller it uses was meant for a golf kart.
Fun fact, as the models in circulation started to need replacement parts we ran into a problem with sourcing. Lead times from China aren't great, and some of the parts weren't even being produced anymore. So, the employee Wheegos would be cannibalized to fix customer cars instead. I have fond memories of driving a company Wheego between the office and warehouse with the dash missing and wires dangling everywhere.

The Dacia Spring (Renault City-KZ) EV is trying to bring that slow-golf-cart aura back though, 33kW, a top-speed of 78 mph & 0-62mph in 19.1 seconds, all yours for 8,000 EUR ($9,000USD) in China or 12,500 EUR ($15,000USD) in France. Most other so-called "budget" electric cars are very expensive compared to that! People seem to, nowadays, have the opposite perception that electric cars are very fast, but why should that necessarily be the case if an EV is built with price as the number one priority?

Very well presented with point and counterpoint from the owner's pov. I was constantly reminded of a commentary I wrote on a presentation of the crash survivability of a "Smart 4 Two", where one had front ended into a concrete divider at highway speeds. With the front 'bumper' on a vertical line with the windshield, metal crumpled to the driver's thigh bones, I found it ludicrous that they praised the unmarked back of the car. I believe I compared their verbiage as chopping the front of your foot off at the arch and seeking praise for your lack of heel callus. I fondly remember wishing I had your Trabant engine to modify as an engine for one of my bike builds. As another Missourian, machinist and garage engineer, love your videos, keep them coming.

I would love to see Tesla and Elon Musk produce a proper car with good build quality.
The Trabant got up to 60 miles in 33 seconds? Wow didn't think it could do it. It probably is more fun to drive than the Wheego.

As a note, the radio was priced at just above 100 dollars. At Circuit City we installed any radio over $100 for free. They just had to pay for a most likely generic electrical harness.
Then again, Thinking about it a bit more. That radio was sold in 2006 probably until 2007-08. So they might have just bought a ton of old stock from a distributer that couldn't shift JVC's garbage radio lineup.

That's by far the best Wheego LiFe review we've ever seen on RUclips! Makes us want to go out and buy one, just for the laughs! It entertains all of your supporters and audience. So that _has_ to be worth every cent you've spent on it.
The 'pile of old junk' gag had us spraying English Breakfast tea across the room.
The fact that it would fail the U.K. MOT Test on lights, brakes and steering; basically everything except for emissions - which we're not so sure about, if it 'smells cancery' - is irrelevant. It's been a 'fun' car, in the most sarcastic and ironic senses of the word.

I think the Reliant Robin has the Wheego beaten on the dash, very thin plastic in the instrument pods and leading to the whole cluster of dials and switches to just splooge in an array of wires around your knees, my one has also cracked in the top centre screw area and pulled away from the side mounting screws so all that is holding it in is dirt ingrained inertia and the surprisingly built like a truck centre console made at the same time from the same plastic in a 2 part mould. The very last Robins were BN1 and BN2's and they had very smart all new dashboards with real instrument pods and made from a decent black thicker plastic that resisted UV and didn't crack either and had electric windows O.o I have in mine the Connolly leather rear seats from the Robin 65 and a pair of insanely comfy MicroCar2 front seats as the original seats were pretty much as much fun as a pair of Trabant seats as Reliant bought the jigs from Triumph for Triumph's Herald and Vitesse seats and a seat designed to give you maximum unsupport whilst allowing every jarring pothole to twist your overhanging spine and shoulders so you felt like a war casualty just driving down the petrol station lol Dunno if you ever got Aixam and MicroCar over in the states?
