Suzuki topped the 2018 what car? Reliability survey, which bodes well for this charming and enjoyable little car. It's driving position which is enhanced by the now uncommon upright windscreen is pretty special and the turbo engine is faultless.
Thanks for a very informative review. I am deciding on a motability car and the Suzuki Swift is one I am considering for economy and yes fun!! Good to know that the automatic would come in top of the range! Test driving soon and can't wait.
Thanks for the review. I have to say I laughed when you said something like "not that many people are after 4WD capability". I'm from Finland and it's 2nd most important reasons I ordered this car. First one is obviously reliability of Japanese cars. Buying something like Ford or VW gives me nightmares.
Hello DrLota Lota, thanks for watching. That's a fair enough comment, but the majority of my viewers are from the UK, and as such, the Allgrip Swift isn't really a car we 'need' over here. Of course, it's a different story in Finland - when you have snow, it's proper snow, however the UK comes to a halt when we get a light dusting haha! Plus it's not too often we get snow, hence why the four wheel drive Swift isn't essential in Blighty.
Haha, I know and perfectly understandable. It's not mandatory feature here either, but improves your life quality so much during the long winters. Also saw some earlier comments about manufacturing countries. Hope I'm wrong, but according to Google only Swifts made for Asian markets are made in Japan. Indian models are made in India (under Maruti brand) and European models are assembled in Thailand. Hope I'm wrong on this one and those are all assembled in Sagara, Shizuoka.
Mate, whilst I would agree 4WD is not essential in UK, there are parts of the UK where 4WD is very useful. Remember just because you don't get a lot of snow where you live, doesn't mean that's the same everywhere. Parts of the UK struggle very year. Thanks for the excellent and useful review@@CarObsession
a very good review bro . can you make a comparison review between suzuki swift and suzuki Baleno with same 1.0 booster jet Engines..... specially about their built quality .... which one you would recommend to buy keeping in mind where are their manufacturing facilities... in Baleno case i think all Balenos are built in India .
Ive had an Abarth 595, and you can imagine how firm the ride is, yet I found that very comfy to drive, so would I find this car a lot comfier ? Thank you.
Last week I received mine, exactly like the one you drive (though black with 6speed automatic). Your comments are spot on. The biggest drawback to me is the ride quality. As if it was only destined for the roads in Japan (perfect). However, I think it is a good bargain only for its basic equipment editions. Mid-Top spec editions are way too expensive for what it offers as a "complete car". The detailing is awful. As an ex-VW-Audi driver I was really looking for the Polo 1.0 110hp DSG but just due to the DSG's bad reputation I looked for other alternatives. Oh, and i deactivated the break-assist-radar as it is super annoying with all the warnings (the moment the front car breaks, Swift considers that you should break as well... ) and even an auto-breaking I experienced 2 days ago when a car from the right lane tried to come to the left one, where i was, and the car thought we would collide... uphill, going 60km/hr... So, I recommend it only for its basic edition, else look elsewhere...
Yes, the autonomous emergency braking is annoying, it cuts in way too soon on all the Suzuki models I have driven (the ones that have it fitted of course). I was going to mention it in my video but I didn't want to make it too long. Yes, the ride is far from perfect, which is a shame because if it was better, it really would have been a serious rival for the Fiesta. Especially if you consider the difference in price. Despite this though, the Fiesta will still walk over the Swift as it's better known car, it's better to drive and it has more badge appeal. Thanks for watching!
None of the car test-drivers test in real conditions these new "smart" equipment. It really worth to spend some minutes reviewing them in the future. Friend with 2017 Jeep Renegade complains for the same thing. His, few minutes after the "incident" the breaking assist system almost stopped the car....
I have touched upon safety systems in some of my previous reviews, but some times you need to get fine balance of including as much information as possible whilst also making sure that the video isn't too long.
Very nice and informative review im thinking of buying this model now i have the 2010 suzuki swift 1.3 petrol. How did the acceleration feel ? Would it struggle to accelerate for an overtake on the highway at 2k rpms ? (That is my major problem with my car atm the low rpm acceleration below 2.5k rpms)
alkis mak Hello Alkis, thanks for watching and thanks for your kind comments. The 1.0 litre Boosterjet has got some real poke to it, so you should be fine. I'd say the power really starts to come through once you pass 2,500 revs.
As much as I like the Swift, it'd be the FR. It looks better (the Swift looks good as well though), it's nicer inside and it's better to drive. The Swift is not a bad choice though!
Just buy one, guys. They say it's a good first car; I'm 78, so it might be my last car. I traded in my Fiesta for a top-of-range SZ5 Swift, and suddenly driving is fun again. Firm ride - disappointing? - you must be joking. The Fiesta was soft and quiet and safe and big and heavy and boring, boring, boring.
I got the 2017 model and it seems very much similar to the 2018 version. Thus far I am quite satisfied with it. However, how would I know if the anti skid feature is on or off? Idk how to tell.
I despise flat-bottomed steering wheels on normal cars. You can't turn into a tight intersection and let the wheel straighten itself out by lightening your grip because the wheel isn't really round and it feels awkward when the flat bit comes by your palm. Also you can't feed the wheel comfortably while parking. The whole point of the flat bottom on sports cars is so you can shuffle your leg between the wheel and the seat as you enter or exit because race cars tend to be very cramped. It has no used in a road car.
The DSBS uses two cameras mounted high up in the windscreen, whereas most other cars use a sensor mounted in the front front grille. Hope that helps, thanks for watching. Suzuki states that the new system is more efficient than the old system, but I still find it's too sensitive, which can be an annoyance, and I felt the need to turn it off most of the time, which defeats the whole point of having it if you ask me.
Giannis The DCBS (Just realised I've been using the wrong abbreviation) offers lane departure warning as well whereas the radar in the front bumper cannot offer such functionality.
Yes, it's better looking too. Mind you, I still like the Baleno, I actually did a review on that quite a few months ago. I would describe the Baleno as the Swift's older, more sensible brother.
Car Obsession is the Baleno's suspension setup better than the swift?? Over bad roads?? I am confused between the Baleno and the new swift.. Ride quality is an important parameter for me...
Hello Shouvik, they are built on the same platform so I would be surprised if you noticed much difference. They both have a firm set up, but it means they handle well, so that it a price I'm happy to pay. Thanks for watching.
@@dappa211 There may be now, but don't forget this video is almost 3 years old, so there is a good chance engine choices have changed since then - thanks for watching.

Ah you're welcome June, I'm really glad the review was of use to you. Thank you for watching, and good luck in buying a new car!
This is Japanese don't expect to have low road or wind noise. They concentrate more on reliability and quality

If you keep the tyre pressure at 32psi , the ride is pretty decent.

hi do the door mirrors fold in/out automatically ?
Do you mind expanding upon what you meant by dsgs bad reputation? Thanks

Yes, this model is made in Japan, the previous model was made in Hungary I believe, I may be wrong.
Another great review. It would be good to get your view on top 10 small cars to buy in 2019

Hey, thank you for the video. I'm thinking of buying a 2018 swift mild hybrid. Is the fuel economy stable in the high 50s would you say?
It all depends on what kind of driving you're doing in all honesty.

when it will be launched in india ???
I'm not sure, I will find out for you.

Car Obsession thanks, they should introduce Sports variant with 1.4L boosterjet!!!

what is the final price of this model??
