Thank you for this lovely tutorial and great covers. But it seems that all you really need is the Cadd9 chord if your hitting the open E.

Stephen. Is it nessesary to change the chords? You dont seem to use any other fret on the E except for open, and don't use A or D during that switch.

ive been wondering the same thing...but if you could listen closely when changing cords there is a slight changing sound that happens which really adds to it
