    At 00:30 you mention a "gatling" style LASER "which outputs around 30,000 mW" of power. That is 30 Watts and is an unlikely output power for a handheld air-cooled DIODE LASER like the one pictured (assuming the beam is turned on for awhile like in the video). I MIGHT believe an output of 3,000mW (or 3 Watts, but even that is a stretch for something with passive air-cooling like the unit shown appears to use unless it's a VERY short pulse duty-cycle with a very long period. (in other words, the total energy is very low). In addition, a 30,000mW (30 Watt) LASER would be highly dangerous even at thousands of feet...even if reflected off a bright or shiny surface (note: even a 1.5W output LASER is dangerouis at almost 1,000 feet.)
    You may also have been misled by the vendor and the LASER unit consumes 30 Watts, but the actual diode output power is much lower...perhaps about 5 to 7 Watts.
    Edit to add to support assessment on "outputs around 30,000mW"
    IF any of these apparently current claims is accurate then there are multiple additional sources confirming that your hand-held "gatling" style LASER cannot be 30,000mW output power.
    wickedlasers.com claims their Spyder 3 ArcticBlue is the world's most powerful handheld laser(sic) you can legally own, with over *3500mW* of power.
    biglaserpointers.com claims their *5,000mW* (5 Watt) "Jupiter" LASER is the most powerful hand-held LASER in the world.
    sanwulasers.com (2021) claims that their hend-held *7,000mW* (7 Watt) 445nm LASER is the most powerful hand-held LASER in the world (REQUIRES 60sec on/60sec off duty-cycle)
    opticsadvisors.com (2021) claims in a 'review' of "7 Most Powerful Lasers(sic) Pointers of 2021" the *4,000mW* (4 Watt) PL-E Pro 465nm is the most powerful.

      thank you for pointing this out, weird how they wouldnt do their research on this before they claim such a high output which is obviously a lie. By my personal knowledge and tests

      Don't forget air diffraction heavily mitigates the beam's coherency. A typical example's laser lighting in a concert: the tightness of focus is very soon lost, and with it, the power. What you're actually talking about is delivered watt-hours vs ambient air cooling, although at the same time degradation of receptor cells can be quite fast if hit directly.

There is no company in the world a citizen can buy a 30 watt or 30,000 mw laser so right off the bat this guys entire experiment is untrustworthy. @@pavel9652 Neighbors who have been rubbed the wrong way pull stunts like this. In my case, trying to talk over the tension that their surveillance creates just escalates the situation as neighbors try to justify themselves. Mine had no problem to throwing out slander because the investment they made is permanent in their minds. Such a situation that is left un-remediated - and the law often says nothing on the subject - creates opportunity for voyeurism to develop that never existed or was a problem before. Issues of privacy and safety become new concerns. Paranoia becomes a factor. Am I right? So, blinding their surveillance cameras is reasonable under these kinds of circumstances.

    It would be better if you guys knew what you are talking about and tested each lasers power output. You said that the gatling laser outputs 30,000mw, which means 30W. That is completely false. That laser comes in a few different powers, either 1.6W, 3W or 5W. The 5W version is pretty recent and uncommon and almost certainly not what you had. So at most the laser used was 3W.

    In the United State it’s illegal to harm security cameras or surveillance cameras. As soon as their camera is damaged they can’t take you to jailed ,court and fined! There’s is nothing you can do to fight back with psycho neighbors pointing cameras unless you have the evidence that they broken the law using it. The police will not help you that they want to promote the use of cameras so they can prosecute you. Only way is to have evident that you’re neighbors has broken the law or damaged you’re property and have them jailed and taken to court.

      Buy an RF detector off of Amazon if your paranoid about surveillance. Night vision cameras can be detected woth most selfie cameras since the selfie cameras don't have IR filters its a little awkward to scan the room and the range isn't great but you can test it with a TV remote to see if your selfie cam can pickup IR. You can also get a network scanner app and see if there are any cameras on it but this requires a connection to the network.

    • @yunggolem4687
      @yunggolem4687 4 года назад +23

      They don't have guns in HK. Realistically a .50 cal ball bearing out of a quality slingshot would take out these cameras no problem with a hit to the lens, same for a CO2 or nitro airgun. A nailgun with the front safety depressor removed would probably work too. A garden sprayer loaded with 1:5 thinner and paint would work. An HVLP battery powered sprayer with a nozzle drilled out with a 1mm bit to get a straight stream would work. 50ft of decent rope with a loop thrown over the camera and 3 people tugging on it would rip these cameras right off of anything with a few good heaves, a dyneema tow rope thrown over a Y in the pole itself and attached to a vehicle frame would pull the pole itself right over.
      There are dozens of ways to defeat cameras, but a 5W laser with a beam focuser and a mini-tripod in the daytime is probably one of the most discrete. Can put it in a backpack or a briefcase, no noise, beam will be difficult to impossible to see for most observers, can be aimed from a building or a vehicle within 50ft for good effect on the camera sensor.

      Save that shit for when cameras and them knowing who you are won't change your objective. -_-
      Use a high pressure air rifle you won't startle crowds of people, the won't hear it coming, and you can use them from distances they shouldn't be looking at to begin with. Good luck on them detecting where you shot from without someone near to give your position to a spotter.

    30 watts in a handheld pointer laser?
    While this video shows that lasers *can* damage cameras, this is both nothing new and incredibly inaccurate.
    Laser power levels were read from labels, actual power(which is far lower) was not measured, power density was not measured, beam size was not measured, effects of wavelength were not measured.
    If you call this a test report, it's pathetic. A 30 watt laser, regardless of wavelength, would considerably heat up, melt, or even cause the cameras to spontaneously combust at these distances, if collimated. Not to mention instant and total sensor failure(if wavelength passes through the lens).

    • @ipvmtech
      @ipvmtech  4 года назад +4

      Thanks for your feedback. While we did not measure these output power in-house, we did show at the end of the video (you evidently did not watch that far) that prolonged exposure using high-powered lasers can damage cameras. Lenses can get cracked, internal adhesives can melt and soften focus, and sensors can be destroyed. However, can you prove your claim that this can 'cause the cameras to spontaneously combust'? We did tests and showed proof of the results. Now you show yours?

    • @Spirit532
      @Spirit532 4 года назад +6

      @@ipvmtech I did watch the entire video, and you did show that supposedly higher power lasers can damage cameras, yes.
      You want proof of what a 30W laser can do? Look up the K40 laser cutter. They often come with 20W or 40W CO2 lasers. The hint should be in the name. *Cutter.* Though a CO2 laser wouldn't work for damaging image sensors due to the longwave infrared output, which normal glass lenses or sensor packaging won't pass though.
      What you had was at best 2-3W, maybe 4W with a stretch. A 30W 532nm laser would be roughly 3-4x the size and weight, and multiple-order reflections(not the primary ones) would be enough to blind anyone, even wearing cheap uncertified protection glasses.

    • @ipvmtech
      @ipvmtech  4 года назад +2

      @@Spirit532 For sure, a laser cutter could cut / destroy a camera but so can a hammer, a mallet, a baseball bat, etc. The point of the test was to test things that people could do from a distance like they are doing in the Hong Kong protests. You certainly know a lot about lasers but keep in mind what might now be 'nothing new' to you is something that 99% of people even in the video surveillance industry would not know, ergo the benefit of us formally testing and publishing the results. Thanks for the tip on the laser cutter!

    My neighbors know whenever I am outside as they release their german shepherd and com eout and get her to bark at me. It is driving me nuts. THe lady comes out after a few minutes and stands at the fence looking in at me. They're fucking bonkers. I see motion sensor lights on their house which is 90 feet from the property line and my house is about 200 feet from the property line So when I am outside and near their side, I can be anywhere from 100 to 150 feet away. Can RING cameras see me and hear me that far away? How do they kow?

    I do not want to break the camera. The neighbors parking spot is right in front of my window. Her camera in her car is always on and watching inside my house. She has a front and back camera with audio. How can I scramble the footage and sound within a certain radius in front of my window? The cops already told her she is close to stalikng, but that was all.

    The shits who are making a living ripping packages off porches want to thank you. ;) But this is very good information. Is there a homing device that will train the laser on a drone in the air?
    There is some poor soul on RUclips who thinks his neighbor is spying on him with a second-floor CCTV camera. He mounted a laser on a fence post in his back yard and let it run straight into the camera. He is an easy target in his back yard, making RUclips videos of his private war. Most people might have knocked on the neighbor's door and said something like, "Do you know your second-floor security camera seems to have slipped and pointed at our back yard? No problem if it is disabled, but it does make us nervous." Great ice breaker. You heard from that guy?
