- A cast net isn't just a great way of catching bait, it's also a great way to see what's living under the water. After multiple cast net throws in this flooded ditch, I find that it's absolutely infested!

You need to put a crawfish trap out there and have you a boil.
Personally I wouldnt eat anything out of that ditch.
@@KatiTheButcher I was thinking the same thing
The three comments on here literally mirror my thought process out there.
"Eat them! Wait, no. Definitely no"
@@wildlifefishingshow but certainly a great spot to put a crayfish trap for bait!!
They aren't even that big.
That large mouthed sunfish you caught was actually a warmouth, quite good bait! Awesome vid btw!
Ben stiller likes fishing and utubeing?
@@davidvaughan3771 dude you have no idea how long I’ve been making that joke 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Crawfish are great bait for any fish here in Louisiana, including Sacalait, Bluegill, Largemouth bass, channel cats, blue cats, gasper Goo, and Choupic!
I'm hooked on your videos because I never know what the hell your gonna be catching! Love the anticipation 💚
I appreciate the support 🙏
I like that you're removing the trash too, you are doing a lot of good taking that garbage out. My favorite was the red ear slider .
It's cool that Ben Stiller has his own fishing channel on RUclips now!
Over the years I've caught a lot of live bait in cast nets but also things that I didn't want. I watched a guy toss one out at night down at the bay and he pulled up a couple of dozen needle nose gar. It was like a bunch of scissors cutting up his net. I stopped by a pond on the way to trot lining and wanted some live bait. I made one cast and pulled up a net full of water moccosins. I left it in the middle of the road until they had all crawled out. The guy I was with said he and a friend had waded a seine through that pond the previous week and had caught lots of small fish. Wanted me to do it with him that time but for some reason I said let me toss a net out there first. He was in shock at the snakes.
Yikes!
I enjoy your cast net videos even if it is just catching bait. The right way is the way that works.
Happy you’ve left behind things you didn’t need. I enjoyed seeing the crayfish and turtle
Definitely, don't want to be wasteful
Spot on with the casting! I need to watch that part again.
I believe that redear was a warmouth, lol! They are a beautiful predator sunfish species, one of the most aggressive sunfish species.
Love to see a new post
Nice catchin them crawdads
That was a lot of crayfish! Might be time to do a boil? lol. Where I live there are a number of spots like this that are completely over-run with carp and tilapia, but being freshwater we're only allowed to use rod and reel to get them, so I'm a bit jealous of your ability to net and bowfish in freshwater.
Great video 👍
Awesome catches, your awesome with the castnet.
I used to love playing in the waterways of Huston when I was a kid. So many memories.
Crawfish sure work well for springtime blue cats 👀👍🏻 nice video
Love the vids man!!!
Fun video!
I’ve caught lots of fish using crawfish for bait! Used to bait my trot lines with them and clean up.
That red ear you caught kind of looks like a warmouth. Awesome catch though.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure I mislabeled it trying to hurry
@@wildlifefishingshow love the vids. Quick question what program do you use to edit your thumbnails?
@@MasterAquatics thanks, I'm currently using a combination of 2022 Photoshop, Instagram filters, and the paint app on my phone. I just mess around until I get the feel I think works.
@@wildlifefishingshow your thumbnails look really good. I just use photoshop but I'm thinking of using something else for better quality. Thanks for responding man, I've been a long time viewer since 10k subs.
Love the Anticipation Big Fan of the Channel!!!
Cool 🐟 !
Thanks!
WILDLIFE! What's up man! Man you caught everything! Bluegill, Shad, Bullheads, crawfish,, and Carp! I can't wait to see what you catch with all that on the real! Great episode man I loved it! Keep on getting down!
Great little spot for such a variety of species! The cast net videos are always fun. Hope your trip to Florida goes amazing! Looking forward to upcoming videos as always.
Love me a food cast net video. I got one film for the Patreon done already, got four more I'm going to attempt for the main channel.
I saw some videos about how to throw cast net in a nice open circle. However, most of those movements are too danger when you standing on a steep, flat concrete slope, make it easy to fall into water before the net.
Bayou live bait fishing with live crayfish? Sounds awesome!
That was cool!
Thanks!
Where to start, great video, with science, fishing and how to of bait net casting. Your videos are refreshing to watch. Thanks allot....
I really appreciate it 🙏
YES I love ur channel
Also it is in east Pearland way downstream from Tom Bass Park, it is somewhere in Green Tee Terrance
Now we use crayfish for Bass here in Southern Ontario but down there with exotics in the mix it would make for a very interesting session
Great stuff hi from Australia we call crawfish yabbies and we are not allowed to use carp as live baits we can't even return them to the water after killing them
When I was younger, I was taught cast netting completely opposite of your technique. I suck at it. I should try your way.
yes crayfish my son and I need encouragement he just uses lures!
I think differently❤😊
Dirty water lol, you're throwing it right , all preferences, I throw it like that also, cut up the carp for catfish bait
All those crawfish would make for a good meal. Shout out from Louisiana!
I wonder are those crawfish safe to eat. It was some nice size ones in the net
I need that hubcap hook me up? 😁 I have said it before, wish I could throw nets here, it looks like a ton of fun, and I have lots of spots I would love to do it. If that was a clean spot, I would be eating those crayfish myself!
Greetings from the BIG SKY. Weird critter, eh?
Hi payton :) I bought my first baitcaster and I caught a 0.8 kilogram catfish
That's awesome, keep it up!
You must hear this all the time but you remind me of a young Ben Stiller
Mad skill! Throwing a cast net is damn tricky and hard work. Also we can’t legally use cast nets in Canada and can’t use “sport fish” species like sunfish for example
Our guidelines also prohibit keeping sport fish in the net, but sunfish aren't classified as sport fish in Texas (seems to be one of the few states like that). I appreciate the support 🙏
Ideas maybe a catch clean cook crawfish or ice been interested in watching a video that kinda informs us about how and why it’s common we see freshwater fish and sometimes saltwater fish together over the years I was only told it’s because it’s brakeshwater sorry if I misspelled but yea love the vids!
Crayfish around the Reno, Nevada area (Truckee river, lake Tahoe and Pyramid lake) really like cheap hotdogs. After you catch a good sum of crayfish, put them in a bucket with a valve at the bottom. Fill the bucket with clean water then open the valve. When the water comes out clean, so will be your crayfish. This method greatly helps to get rid of that muddy taste in crayfish.
I have the same bucket its a good bucket
The heck with fishin just boil some mud bugs...lol
Texans and Cajuns call them craw-fish. Have to admit hearing you say cray-fish sounds funny. Look forward to whopper flathead video.
Here if you use bream for bait you have to catch them in the same body of water you plan on fishing.
Dude you are cool , 🇨🇦✌️🇺🇸.
Crayfish for big bowfins, the true kings of the creeks!
Crawfish great beat for cat
I saw Clear Creek carp yesterday I threw in worms corn and bread they didn’t bite why didn’t they?
U throw a good cast net...
In australia we aren't allowed to release carp .
What happened to your video “Bowfishing a small stream” where you bowfished clear creek? 😮
You get on the Missouri River with me and you'll learn how to handle a crawdad fast.
I'm an old fishing guide if I may suggest you need just a little more spin on your throw , the weights tied to the net will force the net to spread wide open just as it hits the water. good luck
Can't spin on sloped concrete
Aren't they good eatin'? 😁
Have you ever been told you look like Ben Stiller? 😂
I love your videos so much; I watch you all the time and dreamed about going fishing with a youtuber who fishes it'll be a dream to go catfishing with you one day
Just bring a camera man and give him a fishing rod there you go, then upload it to youtube...
As long as the cast net opens! Dont matter how you throw it
Ben Stiller really switched things up lately
Those movie contracts ain't what they used to be
Go back for the MudBugs and go bass fishing!
Crawfish make great bait. Soak them in salt.👍
What does that do? And do you think the bass like eating craws or just hate them and destroy them? I catch alot of bass on artificial.
Yeah you take the tail off of those crawfish. Crush and roll from the tip to the stump and the meat comes right out. Put that on the hook sideways 👌 catfish love it
Where were you at. I'd like to catch some of those crayfish too.
You should eat crawdads!
I can't pass them up at all!
Hit every hole I can every year every time I can.
The moment I saw 'infested' in the title, I knew crayfish were involved.
For 5 decades i was told i knit wrong....4 months ago i found out that my grandmother had taught me the Russian Grandmother Technique. Much faster and easier on the wrists, and Not wrong.
I didn’t know Ben stiller net fished
Its different… just different. -BGA
we used to slide down those spillways in our cut off shorts!! Oddly those short always seemed to disappear after we threw them in the dirty clothes hamper!?! MOM???????😅🤣
I know in my state it’s illegal to use young fish like sunfish and bluegills for bait.
I'm ready for limb-line catch and cook
Who said you trow youre net wrong ??? Now you dont, you trowing it verry tactical !!!!!!!!!!!!! ;-) lol
About 200,000 people on past videos, lol
Very interesting but get a yabby net in their asap & Cook a feed 🇦🇺
I would if this were a cleaner water source, for sure
What should you use the crawfish for? Asking from Houston? C'mon! Just invite me to the boil, please.
Awesome video! What headband are you wearing?
Elite Athletics
I guess a 10lb Flathead can eat a 4lb carp, they introduced Flatheads in a lake near me to combat the carp. Nicevid.
True, and thanks
Nice! Now show me Blue Steel.
Please post your catfishing trip.
Crawfish are good eating!
They definitely are
8:37 -- without checking out the video that came after this. Im willing to bet that your tub of fish were a few fish short when you got back home.
Nope
As I explained, multiple aerators
@@wildlifefishingshow I'm not talking about the airator. I'm talking about the bullhead treating itself to a snack or two
Larger crayfish make excellent catfish bait.
Indeed
Crawdad was ready to FIGHT!
It was going all Nate Diaz on me
Crawdads city boy. 😅
If Tom Cruise was on the Walking Dead.
Nah, you gotta throw out some minnow traps, and get you some monster catfish bait
Aren't carp designated as an invasive species and supposed to dispatched?
Not anymore.
Where is this place located?
Are you sure that water is clean and not run off from roads and so forth
It's definitely not clean
7:06 that’s a Warmouth (Lepomis gulosus)
Yeah, I mislabeled it in a rush
Is it legal to net cast in Houston I'm live in Houston I wanted to go do it just didn't know if I could or not
Yes it is legal
I think the sunfish was actually a Warmouth
I think you're right
Should definitely use crayfish for bait in a video...
Bigger the bullhead the better my biggest flathead was 61.3lbs on a bullhead that was over a pound. I'd have also thrown that first carp on a hook
that red ear that u caught was actually called a Warmouth
Yeah
That was a warmouth not a redear fyi
