As always, your videos are the BEST! Whenever I hear about a "new" technique I always come to your channel to see if you've got a video before I attempt it on my own. Thank you so much for sharing with us!
I would love to see you try the tinfoil and heat gun method! It works much better and faster! It takes a 2 hr project and takes it down to in most cases 10 mins with the Citrus Strip and several mins with the heat gun/tinfoil. It's the method I used for the ones I did. I learned it from Makers Gonna Learn (LIVE: ETCHING COATED TUMBLERS WITH YOUR CRICUT! No Laser needed ) then altered it for each tumbler. :) They used StarCraft Permanent Vinyl which seems to stick better and I didn't have any leakage. I do like the fact that you used the heat gun to kinda bond the vinyl to the tumbler a little, I don't think they did that in their video. I love your videos. You are always so through. Thanks again!
I used to use Citristrip for refinishing small pieces of wood furniture... it always worked wonderfully! I never would have thought to use it for this type of project. *Thank you Angie! I ❤ your videos!
I can’t wait to try this. Thank you for showing how to do it, I have watched so many videos and TikTok on it but no one has been as detailed as you! Thank you for all you do to make these videos teaching us how to do it!
Awesome Projects! More genius ways to use Citristrip. I've watched some videos and you upped the technique with your projects. Thank you for this tutorial. I've been waiting to get it and now I will. Thanks Angie! 😊
What do you think about leaving it overnight? Or using a heat gun? I also saw some who used a scouring sponge but it looked like it had so many scratches. And like many have said….thank you for doing this and sharing with us. You explain things so well.
I didn't have any that I think would have to be left overnight. I don't like the heat gun idea as you really should not heat chemicals like Citristrip for safety reasons. I tried SO MANY THINGS in my house. I didn't really like the scouring sponge.
@@AngieHolden thank you. I watched The Lone Fox and he used the heat gun and the strip on wood but never thought about the chemical aspect. Will leave that alone. Thanks for confirming the scouring pad.
Hi Angie! Great video as always! I am wondering if it is possible to leave the Citristrip on for too long? If the stencil is down nice and tight & the item is completely wrapped in Cricuts stencil vinyl would I be able to just put the Citristrip on before bed & leave it sit overnight? If anyone has tried this please let me know how it turned out!
Could you reapply more Citristrip to the areas like the waterbottle that you discover didn't release the paint well as long as you hadn't removed the stencil? It seems like that would solve the issue of the paint not removing in that area without wasting the piece.
Angie, congratulations on your book. I prepurchased your book directly on Amazon without going through your link. How do I receive the free files? Thank you. Regards, Karen Van Diver
My problem has been that the stripper goes under the small details, but maybe because I am wrapping them in plastic and letting them sit overnight because the paint wasn't coming off.
I left the citristrip on my water bottle for 2hr 10 mins and it still didn't work! Any ideas to make it work? I used the water bottles linked in this video.
@@AngieHolden No. I had tested on the bottom and it worked after 2 hrs, but it did not come off on the sides. I just tried putting a heat gun to it, so we'll see if that helps.
Answered every question I had. Very informative. Thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing the fails as well as the successes.

Wow, thank you!
Shame citrus strip is not available in the UK. Do you know any other alternatives we can use here? Thank you
I don't have anything as I don't know what strippers are in the UK.
I love your videos!!! You explain everything so perfectly!!! Thanks!
Glad you like them!

You really should not use heat with Citristrip as that is heating a chemical.
Great video! I just bought the citristrip now to get a powder coated tumbler to try my hand at it. Thanks for the video.
Wow! What an amazing project! Can't believe you shared this for free. Thank you so much, I can't wait to try this!!!
Hope you enjoy it!
I remember using citristrip for my buffet top. You always have great ideas.

Amazing video as always! Love howou explain everything so well and do all these tests so we don't have to! Thank you Angie x
Glad it was helpful!
Most thorough explanation I have seen. Thanks for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!
I tried this the other day and it was.. objectively.. an utter fail..
sooooooo looking forward to this tutorial!! thanks Angie!!! 🥳👍

I love your detail to the successes as well as the oops! Angie, you help us with the detail in every project. Thank you as always, Brenda
Such an informative video! I've never seen this before, thank-you!
Waiting in anticipation to see what the hype is all about

I have not left it that long. I think I would be afraid for it to sit that long?

If the stencil had not moved at all you could. Mine did move.
Thank you so much! I’m very curious to see a Yeti etched … any thoughts?
Yep they work! I have seen others do them. I went the more budget friendly route with the tumbler I used.
Do you think the heat gun method will work with permanent vinyl as well or is that just for stencil vinyl? Thanks for your detail and hard work!
Yep it will work with permanent vinyl!
i like your video🙂
I would use my initials as the test piece! Seems intentional then!
Good idea!
Thank you for the clear directions! I do have a question - how can you tell if an item is actually powder coated?
I just go by the listing on Amazon.
How can you tell if something is powder coated? Love the video
I just went by the listings on Amazon.
How do these hold up after dishwashing? Or do you advise to hand wash only after this?
The coating itself should be fine. However, you never want to add any insulated tumbler to the dishwasher so be careful there.
Angie, congratulations on your book. I prepurchased your book directly on Amazon without going through your link. How do I receive the free files? Thank you. Regards, Karen Van Diver
Just head to cricuthandbook.com and follow the instructions for sending in your proof of purchase!
Will contact paper work as substitute for the stencil film?
I don't like contact paper in this case. You can use adhesive vinyl.
My problem has been that the stripper goes under the small details, but maybe because I am wrapping them in plastic and letting them sit overnight because the paint wasn't coming off.
I was able to get small details as you saw with this method.
Is it safe to just let everything sit for 2 hours?? Are there any issues with it being on “too long”..???
You can have issues with the stripper bleeding under your vinyl.
How can you tell if the item is powdered coated or not? I was looking at the ones sold in stores and they don't say what they are.
You can't really tell unfortunately!
Do you seal it with anything so the paint around the finished stencil won't peal?
The paint around that area should be fine!
@@AngieHolden thank you 😊
Does this have an odor does it need to be done outside or can be inside
There is not really an odor with citristrip. I would ventilate though and wear gloves.
Do you find that the edges of your stencil area were rough?
Nope. If they were, I cleaned it up with the dull end of the wooden skewer.
Instead of a circle you could use an initial your initial. 😁
Definitely!
this is like glass etching.....thanks
I left the citristrip on my water bottle for 2hr 10 mins and it still didn't work! Any ideas to make it work? I used the water bottles linked in this video.
Hmmmm....obviously it worked for me! Did it come off at all?

Does anyone know if there is a Citristrip alternative in Europe? Thanks!
I do not. Sorry.
Funny how I was gonna order citristrip lastnight but said ill wait and watch some RUclips video first and then this pops up
HA! It is fate!
How can you tell if it's actually "powder coated" ?
I literally just went by the listings on Amazon!
Thank you☺️
