  • Y'all have been asking for me to do skinny tumblers in the Cricut Mug Press and today is the day! I finally figured out a method that I feel works well. Grab these inserts for the Cricut Mug Press to open up the range of sublimation blanks that you can do in this machine. You can now do skinny tumblers, camping mugs, and more. The inserts have three sizes and allow you to make mugs and tumblers in smaller sizes right in your mug press with sublimation. And yes, I am doing a full wrap skinny tumbler in the Cricut Mug Press! Watch to see how!

    Thank you for finding a solution to be able to due different sizes of blanks in the mug press. I think Cricut missed the bar by making this heat press for only certain height blanks. I would love to see them make a larger press to do the full tumbler without having to turn it over. Moving forward with this method, I will certainly follow your instructions!!

    Great video Angie! Thanks for finding a product that creates that tight fit we need. You mentioned that when you flip the skinny tumbler, you should lift it slight off the bottom of the press. Shouldn't you do that for both the top and the bottom so neither end touches the bottom? If not, can you explain why? Thanks so much and again, great video - as always! :)

    • @AngieHolden
      @AngieHolden  2 года назад +5

      It is fine to touch the bottom plate. However, when you flip it, the tumbler is open and will NOT touch the bottom plate but instead go around it. So it actually goes in LOWER than the tumbler inserted with the bottom side down.

    • @AngieHolden

      I do a slight overlap a lot as I personally do better with that. To line up properly, cut the bottom of your paper straight so that you can rest is on the table as your wrap around with your tumbler standing up. Then the entire thing will be straight.

    Just an FYI, saw another video where they tried infusible ink on tumbler, flipping it like you in Cricut Mug Press and it did the same as yours. They think the heat reheats the infusible ink when flipped and fades it and makes those markings.

      You have to have sublimation ink in a printer.

    Do you think the infusible ink would work better/ avoid marks if the inserts were preheated in the mug press before adding the tumbler? I don’t have a sublimation printer…

    • @AngieHolden

      I have found that the inserts hold moisture regardless.

    I wonder if you did the infusible ink on the 20 oz and let it cool down before turning it over if it would work better. Just wondering if it messed up on the section you did first or the second you did second. Thank you for the tips!

      Yea I just had no luck. I think you could do like a small design on a camping mug but the full wraps on the larger pieces may not be possible.

    could you use shrink wraps to hold the sublimation paper in place?

    • @AngieHolden

      I would not. It will likely melt in a press like this.

    Hi! I would simply like to ask if your Cricut mug machine emits smoke during heat pressing?

    • @AngieHolden
      @AngieHolden  Год назад

      Generally no. However, it can emit moisture or steam depending on what you are pressing and these inserts do have quite a bit of moisture.

      You can mess up a project by overheating.

    Wow great video. I've been wanting to learn about sublimation. I've learned that you need sublimation blanks like cups, tumblers etc. But stainless steel camping mug, not coated for sublimation and it still worked.. I'm confused

      @AngieHolden  2 года назад

      The camping mug I used was coated for sublimation. The sublimation coating can be clear.

    Angie… I have been so afraid to press anything other than Cricut mugs in mine because I saw a couple instances where people had done “non-approved” items and it somehow “bricked” their press and it became unusable. Do you know if this is true and if so, do we know what causes this to happen?
