Okay, I feel the need to clear a few things up regarding this one: 1. The whole sleep/dream deprivation routine: Don't bother. Krueger is an arch-master in this brand of siege warfare. The dream suppressants and caffeine is just going to act as a stopgap measure, buying you days AT BEST, and at worst, sets you up later on for an uncontrolled sleep that catches you by surprise. By the time you figure out you're dreaming, you've already fallen for his setup, and thanks to the chemical "help", you're too worn out for adrenaline to shock you awake. 2. While you're at it, don't bother trying to pull Freddy into the waking world. Plenty of reasons for this one, not the least of which being the difficulty in it. This plan relies on managing to close the distance enough to get a hold of him AND hold on long enough to wake up. Seriously, you might as well try to fight a lion wearing just a straitjacket soaked in dry rub seasoning. Even if you manage this, you've accomplished nothing. In the real world, he's already dead. All you're doing is creating a physical manifestation for him to control, effectively making the problem worse. Sure, it'll take damage, and you can even "kill" the manifestation, but Freddy himself isn't weakened one bit. At best, he's disoriented for a bit. While this one CAN lead to temporary success, what's doing the work is denying him your fear by confronting, and you can do that in the dream world just as easily. 3. Fighting Freddy in the dream world: last ditch measure only. You may be able to go toe-to-toe with him for a bit, but that's only if you can keep Freddy occupied long enough to keep him from locking in on what drives your fears. He can turn the tables too quickly on you, because it may be your mental turf, but you're playing by his rules. If it can buy you enough time to wake up, fine. Otherwise, he knows he's fighting a war of attrition, and only one of you can tire out. Hint: it's not him. So, you can't avoid him, and fighting him is either going to be a waste of energy or a delaying measure, so what? Roll over and die? Fuck that. There's a way you kill Freddy, and no one's even figured it out. You ready for this? Here it is: BURN SPRINGWOOD TO THE GROUND. Freddy's reliant upon fear; it's what allows him to kill from within dreams, but you know what's necessary for fear to exist? Knowledge that the thing you fear existed. There's still people who remember the Springwood Slasher, and what kind of horror he could create. You'll have to get rid of them. By my estimates (and yes, I did some rough calculations based off data from the last movie that wasn't a remake, a meta-movie, or a what-if scenario), there's about 5500 psychotic residents who have to die. You don't necessarily have to kill them, but it's either that or figure out some way that they can no longer remember, and let's face it: between the risk of them regaining their memories somehow or rediscovering what you made them forget, killing them would definitely be the more expedient choice, and considering the state the surviving adults were in, probably a mercy. After that, you still have Springwood itself. You'll have to go Temujin on this town; not one brick left standing on another. It's the only way to be sure Freddy's story dies. There's too much history in that town, and too much possibility that someone might have left something behind about those days. Any building that was already built as late as 1984 (when the series started) needs to be, at least, a pile of rubble. Preferably a smoking crater. The asylum, the graveyards, and the junkyard where his remains were buried too, considering they might not reside within city limits. Anything that has names attached to it has to go. After that, wipe the local records. News stories from the killings, the trial, Krueger's execution, and the slayings from when he was already dead, they all have to disappear. I doubt this one made national news, considering the time frame it occurred and the acquittal, but there's definitely local sources, and they need to be silenced. This one might be the toughest of the three to accomplish, what with the proliferation of information these days. Now, you might be wondering how this would kill Freddy, and directly, it wouldn't. What it WOULD do, though, is ensure that that bastard son of a hundred maniacs couldn't kill any more, as no one would remember him enough to fear him. He wouldn't have enough power to kill anyone, and as time continued marching on, he's just grow weaker, until he couldn't even manifest in a dream. If you want to simply stop him from killing you, it's overkill, but if you want to end the threat permanently, this is how you'd do it.

I remember a comic mini-series dealt with Freddy being unable to kill a little girl (like 7 or 8) because while she believed in him, she also was smart enough to understand that he was only a threat if she allowed him to be. Thus, he had no power against her.
I think it's the original 3 Dream Demons that are supposed to be eternal, while Freddy himself is only benefiting from their power and immortality for as long as they are bonded together. I think severing the link between Freddy and his demons would do the job.
He can always come back through the fear of someone that has any sense of who he is. A really creepy dream i had was that i was set in the 80s or something and my dream friend was wearing a weird mask but then he took it off and he said he felt sick. The whole rhyming thing at the end of that film is basically her using her subconscious to cut Freddy off from her mind and her abilities. Then in dream child the sealed off Freddy finds a workaround by using the unborn child to access Alices ability (as during pregnancy it’s presumed that the child and Alice are directly linked) and the end of that one was her entering her unborn child’s dreams using her ability and convincing him to block Freddy out the way she did and then helping him do it. In The final nightmare the young man with no memory is probably Jacob with no memory after being taken from Alice after she was committed to an asylum and raised in the system then Freddy used him to go on a rampage. (Setting up for the opening of the movie) or a remaining child from Jacob allowing Freddy to go on a rampage. (I like that it was Jacob because if he was possessed by Freddy from a young age it explains why he has no memory because Freddy was using him as a meat suit to pull others into the dreams and kill them with the Kristen ability to pull people into their dreams) Nobody counts the second nightmare on elm street film as cannon. Wes craven wasn’t involved with the script or story at all. Robert England originally refused to reprise his role because he hated the script. The issue with the third film is that they didn't bury him in an actual cemetery. They buried him in a junkyard. Also the dog that revived him in the fourth film was named Jason. Side note, the reason Freddy was still alive in the end of FvJ is because his legend was reborn.

There isn't any permanent way to get rid of him, killing him in the real world will just send him right back to the dream world, he'll just keep coming back over and over again until he kills you in your dream, the only way to keep him from killing you is to just move out of the town or stop dreaming at all.
Alfredo 905, Yeah Nancy in the 1st original movie pulled Freddy out but failed to kill him all because of trying to prove her stubborn father that Freddy is real and alive. It took Freddy's daughter in Part 6 to pull him out again and this time kill him for good, If Nancy had done what Freddy's daughter did in part 6 then they're would've been no more Nightmare on elm Street movies. Plus that was the plan with Wes Craven to make Nancy pull Freddy out of the dream and kill Freddy, but the other producer Wes was working with wanted to leave the movie open for a sequel, so because both Wes and the producer he was working with couldn't come to an agreement, they made Nancy not kill Freddy instead they made her turn her back on Freddy and just try to forget him and take all the energy of fear back that she had given him, so because of that the producer Wes was working with got what he wanted and that was a sequel which ended being Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge.

The issue with the third film is that they didn't bury him in an actual cemetery. They buried him in a junkyard. Also the dog that revived him in the fourth film was named Jason.

Alfredo 905, Yeah Nancy in the 1st original movie pulled Freddy out but failed to kill him all because of trying to prove her stubborn father that Freddy is real and alive. It took Freddy's daughter in Part 6 to pull him out again and this time kill him for good, If Nancy had done what Freddy's daughter did in part 6 then they're would've been no more Nightmare on elm Street movies. Plus that was the plan with Wes Craven to make Nancy pull Freddy out of the dream and kill Freddy, but the other producer Wes was working with wanted to leave the movie open for a sequel, so because both Wes and the producer he was working with couldn't come to an agreement, they made Nancy not kill Freddy instead they made her turn her back on Freddy and just try to forget him and take all the energy of fear back that she had given him, so because of that the producer Wes was working with got what he wanted and that was a sequel which ended being Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge.
