It reminds me on how the original creator of Lara Croft said he wanted to have her kill animals because in many games of it's time you killed a lo of people, but turns out not only people considered killing animals something cruel too but that she also killed endangered species, and in the end Lara turning in a killing machine with a large body count that would make Trevor from GTA blush.
I had 442 kills in Tomb Raider 2. Half of those were humans, the rest animals, including 2 T-Rexes and I am not sure if Mafia leader turned dragon counts as either.

When it comes to the animals that she shoots down I like to think that while there are certainly laws against killing endangered animals, I do think from her perspective that if a predator comes charging towards you and wants to attack and eat you "like they do in the games" then of course she's going to defend herself. Not saying it's okay to kill endangered animals but i think it's safe to say though that if we were in that situation, i don't think the laws would matter that much and you'd rather think of surviving by any means nessiserry.

Have to disagree with number 3. In all of presented instances, the tigers attacked Lara. Had she not defended herself, she would surely die. In #2, pretty sure she didn't mean to destroy Atlantis. It happened while trying to stop Natla which if she didn't, it would have been disasterous. #1 - same as number 3. Although yeah, it would have caused a massive backlash.
To be fair about the guards in the natural history museum, those were not actual guards but Sophia Leigh's mercs in disguise: it is illegal to arm public security guards in the UK and the ones Lara kills carry pistols, same with the weird waterworks place beside St Paul's too. I know it's more a gameplay thing but it does make you think. Doesn't excuse Area 51 or the RX Tech crew in Antarctica though.(disregarding the point of the latter one's hostility is revealed in the game script)

You are right that attempting to disguise themselves as guards would be pointless, considering non-disguised hitmen show up in Thames Wharf on the rooptops and in a public bath house, as well as Sophia's divers in the sewers.
Considering Lara saved the world from Natla by doing so (even though she retrieved the Scion for her so that she could start the whole process), destroying Atlantis can't be as bad as killing dinosaurs (which were believed to be extinct, so it would be as bad as killing endangered species) or taking the Ankh that causes an Egyptian apocalypse (although that also meant she had to undo the whole process herself and risk her life in the process)

I'll be honest. You should need more than moving a dagger to cause the apocalypse. What if a rock fell on it or a bat crashed into it. I would've liked it to be it was going to happen anyway and the dagger was the thing to stop it. Anyway, there's a reason shadow is the worst one out of all three, still a good game tho.

Nate is probably in the same boat as Lara outside of killing animals. He’s destroyed lost cities, had guns in places he’s not allowed to have them in, he’s also a confirmed criminal who’s been in jail multiple times so he shouldn’t have them in the first place, he’s a mass murderer, granted he only kills in self defense and he’s kept items he’s found over his adventures that he probably shouldn’t of been able to keep, especially things like bits of resin from Shambhala or Sir Francis Drakes Ciphering disk.
My two favorite video games franchise ! Apparently she forgot about The Deleter, or assumed Keiji was guilty, but it's a moot point since everyone but Anthony died 9. She collapsed a whole alternate dimension, but it was made of evil so I don't think it really counts. 10. In general she doesn't seem to care about the wildlife that gets in her way.
Luds gate was a way for Lara to make it to Sophia Lee. The mummy fluid optional to help those faceless gang that Sophia test on them . Not really a key item, you can complete the normal level without helping them

Whenever I play, I try to get through the level with killing as few enemeys as possible. It's really fun and changeing to make it through the loss valley without killing the TREX and the colosseum without killing the lions and apes. Or even the human enemeys. I usually run past the cowboy guy in Natlia's mines.
Sad to say.... but because of new Trilogy Lara turning into some kind of modern warfare version... it's hard for me to play Rise and Shadow again. Too much things (skills, time of the game play) are about killing. (which in general I don't mind in games) It's my personal opinion. I dislike that aspect of the new Trilogy very much. (I'm not saying TR could be done without it - but with every game - more and more killing, more and more ways and technics to kill etc.). Too bad TR went that way. (Lara's character is another thing that is really hard to like for me...sadly)
I was literally just thinking about his topic after watching your easter eggs video on the games. I hate how she straight up murders people. One of my least favorites is when she blatently lets the chopper pilot drown to death in Antartica. He went out of his way to fly her out there and saves her by pulling off an emergency landing scott free, and she just leaves him for dead without even attempting to help.
Tbf she really didn't have a chance to save that chopper. It was a situation of "Either one of us dies or we both die" The levels of Antartica shows us that the water in that part of the world is so cold that it can even kill you. If Lara had tried to save that guy by jumping to the water to look for him she would have probably arrived at the helicopter too late to save him because of the water's temperature, and she could have died in the process of rescuing him. We actually have no idea how deep the sea in that area where they arrive is. Could she have made the effort to save him after that cutscene took place? Probably, but it's very unlikely. And Lara didn't escape from the helicopter as soon as its weight was shattering the ice below them, she clearly wasn't feeling comfortable with the idea of betraying the poor guy because in the FMV she looked at him a couple of times before deciding to escape as if she was thinking: "Shit, what should I do?" There are other times in the series where she shows that she isn't 100% sociopathic, for example the next ones: in TR1 in which she checks if the guide from Peru is still alive after being attacked by wolves, and even lets Larson to live in two occasions in which he tried to kill her. In TR2 you're given the option of not killing the monks (unless you kill one of them by accident) Anyway, I think we're being too harsh with her when in fact morality in real life isn't black-and-white either, if we were in her shoes almost all of us would be as selfish as her and leave him to die 😂😂 (Plus she probably had already figured out that Willard didn't have good intentions and therefore she had more reasons to survive)
I know Lara Croft is not Regina from the Dino Crisis series, but the fact Lara managed to kill a T-REX is a nice surprise to hear, nice job on the worst things Lara Croft has done Ink Ribbon ✌️
About the animals : In some video games, her source of inspiration (Indiana Jones) could simply scare some of them away with his whip, instead of outright massacring them. It would have been nice to give Lara a similar option - at least in some cases.
That's why she's called an anti-heroine. She's not a villain, but she's not a hero either. She's just done bad things, but a lot of those times it was either her or the enemy. Or let the end of the world happen, which was something she prevented in several games. In Tomb Raider 1 and Anniversary, she destroys the Scion to prevent the end of humanity from happening because of Natla, for example. The part of the weapons I think well whatever, it's not something that needs to be discussed so much in my opinion. As for the part about killing endangered animals...really. Damn, devs, did they need to put endangered animals in their games? Gimme a break. But at the end of the day, nothing Lara does is ever for a bad reason. Often to save the world or her own skin.

It reminds me on how the original creator of Lara Croft said he wanted to have her kill animals because in many games of it's time you killed a lo of people, but turns out not only people considered killing animals something cruel too but that she also killed endangered species, and in the end Lara turning in a killing machine with a large body count that would make Trevor from GTA blush.
I had 442 kills in Tomb Raider 2. Half of those were humans, the rest animals, including 2 T-Rexes and I am not sure if Mafia leader turned dragon counts as either.
I mean OG lara was never a super hero. She was mostly in it for the sport of it. Her own gain was what she was after until it turned to the world being at stake

Not saying it's okay to kill endangered animals but i think it's safe to say though that if we were in that situation, i don't think the laws would matter that much and you'd rather think of surviving by any means nessiserry.

To be fair about the guards in the natural history museum, those were not actual guards but Sophia Leigh's mercs in disguise: it is illegal to arm public security guards in the UK and the ones Lara kills carry pistols, same with the weird waterworks place beside St Paul's too. I know it's more a gameplay thing but it does make you think. Doesn't excuse Area 51 or the RX Tech crew in Antarctica though.(disregarding the point of the latter one's hostility is revealed in the game script)
I don’t see the point in them being in disguise if they were. The fact that they’re armed is hardly anymore unrealistic than anything else that happens in the game.

Considering Lara saved the world from Natla by doing so (even though she retrieved the Scion for her so that she could start the whole process), destroying Atlantis can't be as bad as killing dinosaurs (which were believed to be extinct, so it would be as bad as killing endangered species) or taking the Ankh that causes an Egyptian apocalypse (although that also meant she had to undo the whole process herself and risk her life in the process)

He’s destroyed lost cities, had guns in places he’s not allowed to have them in, he’s also a confirmed criminal who’s been in jail multiple times so he shouldn’t have them in the first place, he’s a mass murderer, granted he only kills in self defense and he’s kept items he’s found over his adventures that he probably shouldn’t of been able to keep, especially things like bits of resin from Shambhala or Sir Francis Drakes Ciphering disk.

Welp, as a Metroid and Tomb Raider Fan I can tell you that Samus Aran definitely deserves to have a list like this of her own
1. Participating in government-sanctioned genocide (Metroid 2, resulted in the X population swelling out of control)
2. NOT killing the baby Metroid (arguably led to the destruction of the Ceres space colony)
3. Accidentally releasing the X on ZDR (although the planet blew up later so arguably this had no long-term consequences)

5. Defacing an ancient Chozo mural (she was only a child though)
6. I guess she didn't make any effort to actually salvage the E.M.M.I.s, they were probably a very costly loss for the GFed

Luds gate was a way for Lara to make it to Sophia Lee. The mummy fluid optional to help those faceless gang that Sophia test on them . Not really a key item, you can complete the normal level without helping them

Whenever I play, I try to get through the level with killing as few enemeys as possible. It's really fun and changeing to make it through the loss valley without killing the TREX and the colosseum without killing the lions and apes. Or even the human enemeys. I usually run past the cowboy guy in Natlia's mines.
Sad to say.... but because of new Trilogy Lara turning into some kind of modern warfare version... it's hard for me to play Rise and Shadow again. Too much things (skills, time of the game play) are about killing. (which in general I don't mind in games) It's my personal opinion. I dislike that aspect of the new Trilogy very much. (I'm not saying TR could be done without it - but with every game - more and more killing, more and more ways and technics to kill etc.). Too bad TR went that way. (Lara's character is another thing that is really hard to like for me...sadly)

I was literally just thinking about his topic after watching your easter eggs video on the games. I hate how she straight up murders people. One of my least favorites is when she blatently lets the chopper pilot drown to death in Antartica. He went out of his way to fly her out there and saves her by pulling off an emergency landing scott free, and she just leaves him for dead without even attempting to help.
Tbf she really didn't have a chance to save that chopper. It was a situation of "Either one of us dies or we both die" The levels of Antartica shows us that the water in that part of the world is so cold that it can even kill you. If Lara had tried to save that guy by jumping to the water to look for him she would have probably arrived at the helicopter too late to save him because of the water's temperature, and she could have died in the process of rescuing him. We actually have no idea how deep the sea in that area where they arrive is. Could she have made the effort to save him after that cutscene took place? Probably, but it's very unlikely.
And Lara didn't escape from the helicopter as soon as its weight was shattering the ice below them, she clearly wasn't feeling comfortable with the idea of betraying the poor guy because in the FMV she looked at him a couple of times before deciding to escape as if she was thinking: "Shit, what should I do?" There are other times in the series where she shows that she isn't 100% sociopathic, for example the next ones: in TR1 in which she checks if the guide from Peru is still alive after being attacked by wolves, and even lets Larson to live in two occasions in which he tried to kill her. In TR2 you're given the option of not killing the monks (unless you kill one of them by accident)
Anyway, I think we're being too harsh with her when in fact morality in real life isn't black-and-white either, if we were in her shoes almost all of us would be as selfish as her and leave him to die 😂😂 (Plus she probably had already figured out that Willard didn't have good intentions and therefore she had more reasons to survive)
I know Lara Croft is not Regina from the Dino Crisis series, but the fact Lara managed to kill a T-REX is a nice surprise to hear, nice job on the worst things Lara Croft has done Ink Ribbon ✌️

About the animals : In some video games, her source of inspiration (Indiana Jones) could simply scare some of them away with his whip, instead of outright massacring them. It would have been nice to give Lara a similar option - at least in some cases.

That's why she's called an anti-heroine. She's not a villain, but she's not a hero either. She's just done bad things, but a lot of those times it was either her or the enemy. Or let the end of the world happen, which was something she prevented in several games. In Tomb Raider 1 and Anniversary, she destroys the Scion to prevent the end of humanity from happening because of Natla, for example. The part of the weapons I think well whatever, it's not something that needs to be discussed so much in my opinion. As for the part about killing endangered animals...really. Damn, devs, did they need to put endangered animals in their games? Gimme a break.
But at the end of the day, nothing Lara does is ever for a bad reason. Often to save the world or her own skin.

I agree. I don’t think she wanted to destroy Atlantis per se, but she had to destroy the Scion which was in Atlantis. When she destroyed it though, Atlantis started self-destructing (the cliched self-destruct sequence in games and movies). So basically it became a case of “it is what it is.” If she didn’t destroy the Scion, everybody would be dead because Natla was a REAL crazy and evil hiefer. I pick humanity still being alive than being told “hey Atlantis really exists” only to die immediately afterward. Lol 😂
