Greetings from Germany! I like your videos, especially the ones where you explain features of the Taycan. This time you have outdone yourself, even including historical sketches and movies about the history of rear axle steering. Keep it up!
Would be cool if you can show the difference in turning radius between RAS and no RAS. But thanks for the video, it’s the only one that showed the RAS on the Taycan.
Great video. I’ve noticed that RAS is not well known…I rarely see it optioned but it makes such a huge difference. If you want a standard U-turn to be thrilling, go for it!
Great info thanks Mason, was something I pondered on my new build in Australia 🇦🇺, decided against it. You convinced me it was the right decision... thanks mate
It is very good, whether you are parking, u-turning, cornering, on icy roads or at the highway…. Anywhere! I highly recommend it, I have a Taycan CT4 myself.
As a daily driver of the 4S with this option, it is very helpful to have, making normal turns you may have been a bit questionable about so much easier. Getting in and out of my driveway around my wife’s large Ram 2500 was much more difficult on my last similar sized car that didnt have this feature. So much smoother now. And when you do want to push it, this car is like butter. Thanks for the video and pointing out that AR app. Had no idea it was there. Although I cant get the Scan your car function to work, only place a car.
I also have a 4S daily with the option and love it. Anything to shrink the car in a parking lot is worth every penny, and the stability at high speed lane changes is just icing on the cake.
I’m still not sure if I should spec it on my 992 Carrera T (PDK)… maybe leave it out and save the weight? Think the regular steering is more than enough? What would you recommend?
Thank you! Great question it is not a standard feature on the Boxster GTS 4.0! Wish it was able to be added as an option but is not available in the GTS currently! 😔
Mason , thank you again for a informative video. How do get that visa I have this option on 21 4S , it is great feature and highly recommended it. Can you be kind enough and do a video on Apple car play connectivity? I often have a problem that it doesn’t connect in regular basis, and honestly It is kinda frustrating. I’m thinking I must be doing something wrong !? Thanks
This is an amazing explanation! But it leaves me with another question; how does Rear Axle Steering compare to PTV Plus as they appear to do very similar things but in much different ways. Or is that a misconception on my part? As I would most likely not option both is there one you would recommend over the other and why? Thanks!
My question is how does the system work in slick conditions at highway speeds. Let's say the road is covered in slush, how would the car handle at 50-65 MPH? Better or worse than a standard set up? I have done thought experiments and have confliction conclusions.
After watching this video I am very clear but I have some questions kindly answer as soon as possible 😊 Which car model do you have? And which sensor is used for detecting the speed of car?

Woow thank you so much! Sorry for the late response! Glad it interesting and helpful... always trying to improve 👍🏼

Definitely noted! Thanks for the feedback 😊
Damn, Mason! Another terrific video. Thanks!
😀 Thanks Torv! Greatly appreciated! Have a great week!
The Honda prelude had some type of rear exile steering back in the day.
Great information. Please consider doing a similar video on Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC). Thanks
Thanks Joel! I most certainly will 👍🏼

Thank you! 🙏🏼 Agreed!
Very helpful, thank you.
You're welcome! Glad it was helpful 👍🏼

Glad it was helpful Adam! Awesome! Send over the build would love to see it! You're welcome! Anytime 👍🏼

Fantastic! Thank you for your feedback Jussi! ☺️
Wow Porsche engineers are brilliant! Excellent video!
Yes! They are absolutely amazing 😊
Porsche does not develope or produce the rear wheel steering in theire cars. They buy it😉
What a great video! Informative and clear. Great work!
Thank you 🙏🏼

Appreciate your input this is fantastic! You're welcome! The Scan feature is currently down 😔
I also have a 4S daily with the option and love it. Anything to shrink the car in a parking lot is worth every penny, and the stability at high speed lane changes is just icing on the cake.
Amazing video. Great job Mason.
Thank you Bari 🙏🏼
Mason very interesting video and as usual with excellent clarity. Porsche is great at keeping one step ahead.
Thank David! Yes they certainly are!
Mason again a good and informative video 👍
Thank you Per 🙏🏼 Appreciate it as always!!
Wow. Literally “turning on a dime”! Fascinating technology. Fun to watch those rear wheels going the opposite direction.
I know right?! It is crazy what it can do! 🥰
Your video helps me clear understanding about 4ws mechanism
Enjoyed this video 👍💯
I recommend everyone who wants to know about this mechanism 😅
Now I wish that I had ordered the rear axle steering. I'm still very happy with my 4S.
Great advice. Do you have any videos on PTV+ or PDCC?
Thank you 🙏🏼 Not at this time but great suggestion 👍🏼
Awesome video
Thank you 😊
So how does it sense the differance between a lain change and a curve in high speed?
Thanks very much Mason! Would you say that it helps for maneuvering, for example in a tight parking garage?
Hi HaDe! Your welcome 👍🏼 Yes most certainly it will help for maneuvering in tight parking 👍🏼
I’m still not sure if I should spec it on my 992 Carrera T (PDK)… maybe leave it out and save the weight? Think the regular steering is more than enough?
What would you recommend?
Are there any racing series with auto rear steering?
Very good video. Do you know if the Boxster GTS 4.0 has this feature as standard (don’t remember seeing it in the configurator)?
Thank you! Great question it is not a standard feature on the Boxster GTS 4.0! Wish it was able to be added as an option but is not available in the GTS currently! 😔
Mason , thank you again for a informative video. How do get that visa
I have this option on 21 4S , it is great feature and highly recommended it.

You're welcome! 👍🏼 I am afraid I am not sure what you mean by visa? Apple CarPlay can definitely be finicky! I will work on a video 👍🏼
Does it have rear axle steer on every Porsche Taycan trims
Hi Tahamnia! Great question it is an option of about $1600 on all trims with exception of Turbo S as it is standard on this model 👍🏼
This is an amazing explanation! But it leaves me with another question; how does Rear Axle Steering compare to PTV Plus as they appear to do very similar things but in much different ways. Or is that a misconception on my part? As I would most likely not option both is there one you would recommend over the other and why? Thanks!
Fantastic--thanks again Mason. I was TORN about this...you helped me stay away from it. Will use the money for something else
Fantastic! Glad it helped you make the decision and decide to spend money elsewhere 👍🏼

That is a great question. I am not sure how rear axle steering will have an affect on drivability with snow and slushy conditions 🤔
After watching this video I am very clear but I have some questions kindly answer as soon as possible 😊
Which car model do you have?
And which sensor is used for detecting the speed of car?
Does it improve driving experience on mountain roads with a lot of sharp turns?
Yes it most certainly does! This is the application where you would notice this feature most!
ZF AKC in it
S-Class can do 10 degrees, come on porsche, step up your game
Nice 👍🏼
My 2005 Yukon xl can do 12 degrees, everyone needs to step up their game lol.
The S Class is way longer than the Taycan, especially in LWB version. This car's rear-wheel steering makes it about as maneuverable as that.
Too much publicity.
