@@alllli You wouldn’t believe it, but I ordered it on December 8, 2020. Between the dealer and Porsche in Germany someone dropped the ball and it got delayed 4 months. Unreal car though. Worth the wait!
Great videos, Mason. Thanks for taking the time to produce them. Been through most of them. Really helps to get the most out of my 4S. Got a request,... could you discuss what Porsche recommends for battery state of charge on a daily basis. I only fill to 85% SOC typically when my Taycan gets down to 20-30%. I do not charge every day. Is that Ok? Again thanks for the great videos and info.!
Dan! Glad they are helping... means the world! That is perfect Dan... SOC at 85% is exactly what Porsche recommends and not charging it everyday is good for battery longevity! Only charge it when you needed just as you are doing 👍🏼
Wish I had this video when we ordered our cayenne. We did get the acc because I have it on my bmw. Porsche does a poor job even in the manual explaining these systems. Thank u!
I would recommend ACC alone! You can always try out Active Lane Keeping Assist and Porsche Innodrive later via function on demand (FoD). Where you can download these features and try them out on your car on a month to month basis or permanently add it to the car! If you didn't find the function useful in your day to day life no need extended the month to month. To be able to download these features later to your car you will need ACC stand along option so I would definitely recommend this! 👍🏼
@@Pcarwhisperer Bro, can you make vlog with POV driving with this addon ACC and lane keep, so we can see if it really works like tesla full self driving or not.
Thank you! I requested this video and you made it. Very informative. I noticed that I am now having both innodrive and active lane keep trials from function on demand, but I plan to only keep the active lane keep and not the innodrive. Does it work that way?
@@Pcarwhisperer Thank you, I am so confuse between these two options. Also it will be nice to get a sense of what's possible with combination of options like PID+ALK. My understanding is that it's a great option for getting through traffic jam on highway but I am really not sure.
@@Pcarwhisperer thank you! I also can’t find good info on the LKA v. Active LKA. Particularly, what is it like to have the ACC or InnoDrive with the models that only offer lane keep assist (like Panamera or Cayenne)? Thank you!

Active Lane Keep actually turns the steering wheel when the lane curves to keep you in the lane - in that sense is Active while LKA is passive. Hi Hyeonje! Great question... it depends what rate it will need to slow down the car in a Taycan... if it is minimal it will use the electric motor(s) to slow the car if it is doing emergency braking it will use the brakes 👍🏼
@@toughkixI’ve been driving a model 3 rental for the last few days and today the auto steer was crap while on a two lane road which had a handful of turn lanes here and there. It got confused almost every time. I’m not convinced these camera based systems are as advanced as they need to be.
@@mutzman Then take a look at this video: "ruclips.net/video/XHOQBmdXMFk/видео.html" If you can't copy the link, because you are using a phone/tablet, the title is "Tesla Full Self-Driving Beta 12.1.2 Drives from SFO to Tesla San Francisco with 0 Interventions" You were probably on basic Autopilot, which still should have done better than you described. Shame that it didn't. Tesla is really leading the game on full self-driving and is spending a lot of resources to achieve this.
Yeah, to me it is just annoying and a waste if it doesn't work really well. The systems on Jeep, Ford, VW are work okay, but they arn't good enough and just end up being annoying. The automatic slowing down is annoying. Overall don't like ACC and Innodrive and certainly not worth Porsche is charging for it. A 911 is meant to be driven actively
Great video but I am confused. I have downloaded Active Lane Keeping but not Innodrive. It seems i have to have both the Lane Assists and Active functioning to work. I never get the green steering wheel con. Thanks for your help
Do you happen to know what the little white arrow is that slides along the side of the speedometer? It’s always a bit ahead of the speed that I am going. (Same in your videos)
Nice video. I heard you can add Innodrive FOD so long as you equip just the ACC in the initial build. However, looking at this video, it appears Innodrive requires a separate camera/equipment at the top of the windshield. Does that come already installed regardless if you select Innodrive or not?
I'd only be happy for having this for resale. Tesla though is lightyears ahead of Porsche with this technology! I don't think Porsche can ever catch up to them. I love Porsche though, personally I'd hate having the car drive for me. Driving for nearly 40 years and never even touching a curb, I don't think I need any assistance anyway.
Great question! The brake light will come on when slowing to a stop or under emergency stop situations. If it is slowing down slightly due to the car speed ahead it will not brake but rather just ease off the accelerator to slowly reduce the speed! 👍🏼
So since this dude doesn't know the right answer, I'll answer for him instead: The answer is: It depends how hard the car has to brake. If the deceleration is more than 1,3 ms² (meters per second squared) it will light up the brake lights. When the deceleration is less than 0,7 ms² it will turn off the brake lights again. This is part of EU regulation ECE 13H. As for emergency stop, if you brake hard the brake lights will flash and if you brake that hard down to a standstill it will also turn on the hazard lights for a while. The idea is to let the drivers behind you know (by flashing the brake lights) that the deceleration is faster than normal and you need to get on your brakes NOW. This is typical for accidents on the Autobahn. There used to be a problem with pile ups as the cars coming from behind drove too fast and didn't brake early enough to avoid the cars ahead. German drivers are very good though so they manually turn on their hazard lights when braking harder than usual to let the guys behind know. Modern cars do it for you.
Nice video Mason. I have InnoDrive on a Taycan 4S, very satisfied with it. I found the automatic speed adjustments erroneous too often, even on Hwy 101 near Atascadeo it suddenly thinks there is an intersection and slows dramatically. The good news is it’s fairly easy to disable the automatic speed adjustments. @PCarWhisperer Do you know a way to report bad map data back to Porsche so that the system can be improved?
Thanks Ron! Gotcha ... yes thankfully it is easily shut off and on! That is a good question I would try calling Porsche Cars North America at 800-767-7243 or emailing them at customersupport@porsche.com Hope this helps Ron!
I did as you indicated, and pressed the mode button at the bottom (not at the end) of the cruise control stalk. That pulls up a screen where I can select EITHER ACC or PID. I selected the PID option. But the PID car icon remains greyed out (ie, inactive) no matter what I do. When I push the stalk forward to “set” the speed, I get a message that Innodrive is “temporarily” unavailable? What is that about? This is on a Porsche 992. Any help would be appreciated. Thx.
IMHO the problem with adaptive cruise is it leaves too much space behind the front vehicle so people keep pulling in front of you and you keep continually slowing down more and more. It may be logical but it's not intelligent.
I'll never own another car without at least radar guided cruise control. My 911 GTS has it and while I attend track days and use it as it's intended, when driving to the track or other long journeys it's nice to just let the car keep up with traffic, relax and enjoy the stereo. Same goes for many other systems. On track I drive manually and in Sport Plus with PDCC set at it's hardcore setting. But again, on endless motorway miles it's a lot more relaxing to set everything to comfort, let the car do the shifting, and get there relaxed. One thing doesn't exclude the other.
Honestly, it takes too much learning, too easy to make a mistake and too much fiddling to make this system work. Tesla has everyone else beaten at this. However, this system is worst than say something from a civic.
it works like a charm it took me 2 hours to get used to the buttons and compared to Civic, Acura or BMW the system works much more responsive - detects cars and makes changes faster than you can manually. Complete winner, with Active Lane Keep its one step before useful autopilot.
@@AW-gj4ji you will be surprised, it is exactly the same as in Honda or BMW. The main action is set the speed, then increase or decrease, that is it. The rest of the buttons you don't really use more than once or twice.
This type of system is basically off the shelf and all the German manufacturers use the same ones from Bosch/mobileye etc. they all work similarly. They are Stone Age compared to Tesla’s system (with the exception of Mercedes Drive Pilot, but that has far more limitations)
